Ash sat on her bed as she waited for Michelle to finish showering again, they'd gotten back from breakfast and she'd had blood on her shirt. When Ash lifted it, blood was still coming from the bullet holes. Michelle had shrugged and said it would take a few hours to heal properly, she didn't understand why. She looked up when Michelle walked back into the room, a towel wrapped around her. "This morning, when I got that call, it was the scariest moment of my life. And I've had some scary moments. Don't do that again. Okay?" Michelle laughed and walked over to sit next to her. She laid a hand on Ash's knee. "If I can help it, I promise I won't. It scared me too, you know. All I was thinking was to get back here, to see you. I never wanted to fall for anyone, I don't have the best history when it comes to maintaining a love affair, or a relationship. My parents weren't good role models and my sister, well she's just in a league of her own. But with you, I feel like I could have a chance at being better, at being something more than I am." She leaned over and kissed Ash. "I meant what I said, Ash. When this is done, I want a family with you, I want to settle down, and build my life, with you." "I don't know if I can leave here, this has been home for over a hundred years, I don't know if I can leave." Ash ducked her head. "But I want all that too." "Then I will build New Town, right here in Silver Moon. I'm sure Sam would love that." She laughed. "Old Town has been destroyed now, anyway, the energy is bad there. Ava ruined what I built in a matter of seconds.""We will rebuild, but not here, close to here, but not here. Your people need their own space, and we will get them back, all of them." "If the kids are to be believed, then only the women are left." "I don't know, I have a feeling, she's using the men for something else." Ash lifted Michelle's hand. Kissed the palm and rubbed her cheek against the knuckles. "We will get back those that survived, and we will avenge those you lost," Ash vowed. "I love you." "What?" "You don't have to say it back. But I can't keep it in anymore." Michelle smiled at her. "I love you." "Mich, I love you too." Ash threw herself at Michelle who caught her laughing. "Well, that's settled then." She hugged Ash close, taking in her scent and memorizing the happiness she felt at that moment. She pushed Ash back on the bed, settling her weight on top of Ash. "I'm going to make love to you now." "Oh yes please." Ash laughed. She groaned, then swore when her doorbell rang. "I'm going to kill whoever that is." "I'll go." "Not like that you won't!" Ash pushed up, her hands on her hips. "No one but me sees you like that from now on." Michelle's laughter followed her all the way to her door. She pulled it open ready to rip the visitor a new one. Her frown turned to a smile. "Alice?" She asked confused. "Everything okay?" "Hi, Ash, I'm sorry to just show up like this, but could I maybe have a word with Michelle?" "Uh okay. Is everything okay?" "Yes, I just need to clear something up with her." Alice followed Ash into her living room, then took a seat when Ash gestured to the couch. "I'll get her for you, can I get you anything? Coffee, or maybe a cold drink?" "Just water please, I ran here, it was nice to let the old wolf stretch her legs, but it's been a while." Alice smiled. "It's nothing bad, Ash, I just need to ask her something." "It's important enough for you to come all the way here, and alone," Ash said. "I didn't want Sam there to influence Michelle's answer, and I didn't want to get into it in front of everyone at breakfast this morning." "Alice..." Ash began but Michelle interrupted her. "What's wrong Alice?" She'd heard them talking and realized Ash would try and protect her from whatever Alice wanted, even if it was not necessary.
"I'll go get your water, you want anything, Mich?" "No thank you, I'm good." She smiled reassuringly at Ash. "What can I help you with Alice?" "I need to know if Sam killed Jake?" Alice didn't beat around the bush. "Honestly, if I just had to go on what I saw, then yes. But she's been behaving strangely and won't let anyone down there, not even Amber." "So there's a chance he's not dead?" "Probably, why?" "Lucy has the right to know if her brother is dead or not. If he is, she also has the right to bury him with their parents." "That's up to Sam, Alice, you know that." Alice stood, Ash came in with her water and she took it with a smile and drank down half the glass. "Yes it is, but I just wanted to find out if he's dead or not. Since you don't know, I'll just go see for myself." Alice handed Ash her glass back. "Let's see her stop me." Alice went to the door and looked back at Michelle. "You should have stopped her." "I tried. What he said to her, I'd have killed him too." "Mm, thank you for being honest." "Sorry I wasn't more help. But honestly, I do think he's dead. I think she just doesn't know how to tell Amber she killed him." "Okay. Well, either way, I'm finding out today." She nodded at both of them, then disappeared out the door. "Why is she so hell-bent on finding out if the bastard is dead?" Michelle wondered. "When their parents died, Jake left town and joined another pack, Lucy became a part of Alice's lost souls. She talked Diane into giving her a job and they were there for her." "Ah, I see. Let's hope Lucy's loyalty lies with us and not her brother. Because like I said, from what I saw, he's dead." Michelle turned to her phone. "Great." "What?" "Dear old dad." She said and answered her phone.
