Chapter 3Seth wakes up early the next morning when a nurse comes to check on him and fiddle with the IV, but then he gets bored and falls asleep. When he wakes up again, an alert Connor is reading at Seth’s bedside. He has one of Seth’s hands in his own. “Morning,” Seth croaks. “Hey,” Connor says warmly and hurriedly puts the book down. “You’re safe, in the hospital. You had—” “I know,” Seth says with a frown. “The nurse told me yesterday.” Connor beams. “It stuck, then?” “Oh, yeah,” Seth says faintly.
