Travis
Malcolm and I were so ready for today. This date can change everything for us. We can be one step closer to having everything we thought we can never have. This can be it!
I showered after a run this morning. Sending Elizabeth a quick text. She only replied with a smiley face. And I only imagine it was her real face. I felt so thrill and nervous. I had to get one more set in my personal gym. Her reply boost my mood even higher:
I had most of our day plan. I found this great park that has the most amazing view and open field. Just one down fall, it takes 3 hours to hike to. I was down for it, I just don’t know if she will. “I’ll carry her, if you can’t.” Malcolm suggested.
I hurry and got ready. Did a quick meeting and check in with everyone. Afterwards, it was time to pick up Elizabeth. When I got there, I fought the war to text or call her. But Malcolm suggested we knock on the door. More gentleman like. I agree and made my way up. When I knocked on the door. It wasn’t Elizabeth who opened it.
“Hello there? Can I help you?”
I swallow this huge lump. But hurry to answer the woman in front of me. “Yes. I’m Travis. I’m here to pick up Elizabeth for our date.”
“Ohh Travis. Yes come in.” I walk in and the woman offer me a drink. I nicely said no.
“So you and Elizabeth? Has this been going on for a while?” She asked.
“No ma’am.” I said and she sip her coffee.
“Ohh don’t call me ma’am. Makes me feel old. It’s mom.” I nod and reform her by madam mom.
She quickly rant on to tell us little stuff about Elizabeth. Like how a great daughter she is, how proud she and her husband are. How happy she is to see Elizabeth going on a date with me. Telling me that she hasn’t been out for a long time. Seems she only gets out when it’s school or work, otherwise she’s home lock in her room. Made me wonder what change, I remember Mason also saying the opposite about her. Her mother went on to asked what my plan was for today. And I told about the park. She giggle and said it been nice for her to try something new. She talks fast, it might be the coffee.
“You are too kind. You must meet my husband.” She suggested.
“Will love to, if that’s okay with Elizabeth first.” We laughed and the scent of hazel nut burn through my nose.
“Mom?” A sweet angel walks into the kitchen.
“Ohh hello Elizabeth. I’m just talking with your new friend here.” Mrs. Marshall said.
“You look lovely, Elizabeth.” I said, wow she looks so amazing.
“I told you its Liv. Only my parents call me Elizabeth.” She quickly said. I know it piss her off when I call her that, but I like it when she’s mad. Seeing that wrinkle on her forehead.
“Well I won’t hold you kids up. You go on and have fun.” Her mother tap my shoulder and walk over to Elizabeth. She whispered something that made Elizabeth’s eye me hard. Elizabeth said bye and hurry for the door. I followed her.
“It was lovely to chat with you madam mom.” I yelled before leaving.
“It was lovely. Goodbye Travis, Elizabeth put your seat belt on.” She shouts. I couldn’t help but smirk.
“Your mom is very sweet.” She ignore my comment.
I hurry to open the car door for her. “M’lady.” She restrain from looking at me and continue to ignore me.
I turn the engine on and waited for her to put her seat belt on. She quickly gets piss. “Your mother said to put your seat belt on. And I won’t drive until you do so.”
She flipped her hair aggressively. I won’t leave without her secure in. Even when she says we need to go before her dad comes. I chuckle and lean over to buckle her myself. “Hey?” She shouted.
“One thing about me Elizabeth. I take the safety of people I love and care about very seriously.” She wasn’t pleased by my act. Whatever, at least she’s buckle up now.
“Now can we go?” She snapped at me.
I nod a yes. I ask her to pick our fist spot. I wanted to enjoy this whole day with her. “You sure?” She asked.
“Yes, you pick something to tell me who you are. And I will pick something that tells you, who I am. Plus my spot will take longer. Better to leave last.” She had this mischief smile, made me wonder what she had in mind.
“Alright fine.” She put the gps on and it showed a movie theater.
“Ohh okay, seems fun.” I was bit surprise but still happy. I thought it was something crazy for a second. Either way, today will be great. I just know it will.
Soon we arrival. Elizabeth asked me to grab snacks while she orders our tickets. Normally I wouldn’t have her pay for anything. But I know she will fight me about it, so I just avoid the fight.
“So what kind of movie did you pick?” I asked once she found me waiting for our drinks and popcorn.
“A horror film.” My eyes widen for a second. I did not think she was a blood gore girl. It kinda turn me on. I thought she was a down to Earth witch who hated the gallons of blood shred for their Ancestors.
When we got to our seats, I hand Elizabeth her drink while we shared the popcorn. “Thank you Travis, and you look very handsome.” She said to me.
“Anything to keep that smile on that beautiful face.” She turn to hid her face, only to make me grab her chin to return my gaze. “I told you, don’t hide.” I whisper. A spark hit my fingers once I touched her. And then the room started to get dark and everyone got quiet. We sat and enjoy the movie together. I was so lost and into the movie all at once. It was an international movie. More depth horror, I even jump in my seat when Elizabeth grabbed my hand.
“Do you want to leave?” She asked me.
I shook my head no. “Are you scared?” I asked.
“No, no. I’m fine.” We smile and finish the movie.
Elizabeth went on to making fun of me. I told her I wasn’t scared and the movie was good. But she insisted on believing I jumped the whole time. Yet she wasn’t scared once. She really enjoy watching these things like it’s comedy. “You didn’t have to stay and watch the whole thing. We could of left at anytime.” She said.
“I can handle a 2 hour horror film.” I replied.
It wasn’t even that scary.
“Just remember, it’s based on a true story.” I raise an eyebrow at her.
“It didn’t say that.” She giggle at me. What a cute laugh she had. I couldn’t get enough.
“No, but the look on your face was cute, haha.” I started the car and headed to the park.
I went on to ask why she choice this date. And the relation it has to her. But then her face went cold and the mood change quick. “Umm, I’ll tell you later. I don’t won’t to ruin a good mood right now.” I looked at her, and she quickly looked away from me. Something seemed wrong when I asked. So I reach over to hold her hand.
“It’s okay. We don’t have to talk about it.” I smile. I don’t want her to feel uncomfortable with me. It felt good she didn’t fight me back right away.
“So where to next?” She asked once she removed our connect and shifted in her seat. I see she tried to keep out her thoughts.
“Hiking.” Her face lit up. Thank God I thought maybe I picked the wrong thing. “Ohh, sounds fun.” Her face said one thing but her voice said another. I couldn’t tell if she was really excited or not.
“You’ll like it, trust me.” I told her. Soon we made it to the park. We grab our stuff and quickly change our clothes. “You ready?” I asked. She smile and said yes. But then she grab my arm and ask how long this would take.
“Tell her, so I can take over and just carry her myself.” I ignore Malcolm and told Elizabeth it will take 3 hours. Her eyes widen but I reassure her it will be worth it.
After a long hike up we finally made it up to the top. Elizabeth almost fell on some rocks but I save her cute self. It was all worth it when I saw her face. How enlighten she was by the view. Her reaction was melting in my brain. f**k she the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.
“Good job Travis.” Malcolm told me. I mental pat my own back.
“You like it?” I asked, but she was too stun to answer.
I went ahead and laid out the blanket for us. Laying our backpacks at the edge. I wanted to keep staring at her amazing face. But I know her legs had to be killing her. “Come sit.” I suggested.
She sat down and asked how I found this place. “I looked it up last night. I thought it be nice for us just to sit and talk.” Last minute really. “Here, drink this.” Pulling out a thermos of her favorite tea that I asked Mason.
“Do you just assume all witches like tea?” Rising her eyebrows at me with her feisty tone.
“No, I just ask one cute witch’s best friend, what her favorite drink was.” Thank God Mason knows her well.
I went on to pull more stuff out that Mason suggested was her favorite snacks. Her face lit up, it made me happy to see her like this. This was all we wanted, her smile. “Travis?” She said lightly.
“I just wanted you to be happy. I know food makes any girl happy.” More memorable really.
“You didn’t have to. This view is all I needed.” She looked over to watch the sky again. She was so mesmerize by it. And I was mesmerize by her.
“I know with us being very different. I thought I take us somewhere that we both feel safe and loved at.” She turns her attention to me. Her eyes caught me and insides twisted.
“You adore the woodsy air, while I love to be close to the Earth.” I nod, glad she understood. “You won, congrats wolf.”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“You picked the perfect date. This here, nothing can top it. You just set the bar too high now.” She chuckled.
I smirk and graced her fingers with mine. Feeling an amazing feeling running up my arm. “Everything with you can be perfect. If we try Elizabeth, we are mates after all.” Quickly her face change and she pulled away from me. I felt so rejected by her.
I really hope by the end of the night, she’ll agree to at least give us a chance. I want her to know this isn’t just some normal relationship. This was a forever thing, even if she wanted to quit at one point. At least we tried it together. Malcolm wagging his tail, hoping for the same thing.
“So tell me why this place? What’s your story Travis?” My face soften. Knowing it was time to tell her the truth.
I sigh to myself for bit. Getting ready to prepare her for what she might have to deal with. “A stubborn ass Alpha who never wanted to find the love of his life because it was the one thing he was always scared of f*****g up one day like his father did with his mother.” If I can kick Malcolm’s ass right now, I would.
“I guess I picked this place to have a connection for us both. With my wolf side, I love being close to the forest. And for you, I figure being with nature will make you feel comfort.” We shared a smile. “Being here just feels like another home. One that I can be free. I get to run away from all my thoughts. All the stress and Alpha demands I have. It all goes away. Being an Alpha itself isn’t as great as some makes it out to be.”
I grab more stuff out and put it down nicely. I didn’t want her to read my face when I tell her more. “Does everyone expect you to be someone you wish you don’t have to?” I looked at her. Feeling like she might just understand what I mean.
“Yeah, 24/7. But I can’t complain. I was raised to be Alpha one day. And it took a whole other side of me to prove to everyone that I wasn’t playing dress up in father’s clothes. That’s why i’m one of the fearest Alpha alive.” Again I looked away. Feeling so stupid right now. With me saying that she might already have a list of not wanting me as her mate.
Idiot! Should of shut up. I don’t want her to be scared of me like everyone else. Not her.
She reach over and grabbed my hand. Making me stare into her gorgeous eyes. “You don’t seem that scary. A bit annoying but not scary.” We chuckled. She’s honesty the first to say that.
“Well nothing scares me.” She raise her eyebrows high at me. And I knew she was going to bring up that movie again.
“Ohh really cause if I recall...”
I cut her off before she can make fun of me again. “I wasn’t scared, I was surprise. I didn’t expect them to be jumping at the screen like that. Nothing scares me.”
She rolled those beautiful green eyes at me. Making my heart swim in circles. “Okay, I believe you. Big bad wolf.” I squeezed her hand. She blushed hard and I couldn’t help but adore it. I love what my touch does to her.
“So tell me about you. Doesn’t have to be the reason you chose a horror film for a date. Just something I can hold on to.” I was still curiously to know why she choice a horror film. What did that had to mean about her?
“Maybe she was haunted as a kid?” I rolled my eyes at Malcolm. “Or maybe she’s curse, that may be why she doesn’t want to find her mate. We are going to die once we kiss or fall in love. She’s gonna tell us about some hex spell she has..” Malcolms adds.
“Can you shut up.” I yelled.
“Come on, there’s had to be some hidden line to why she picked it.” I thought for a second but I wasn’t sure by it.
“Maybe her childhood felt like a nightmare to her. Everyday she was terrified.” Remembering Mason telling me she had a hard life growing up. It was the main reason why he was over protected with her.
And then she pulled away from me, pouting to herself. “Even if it’s one thing.” I said. I didn’t want to push her to tell me her whole life story. I just want her to be comfortable around me.
“Around us.” Malcolm adds.
“Didn’t Mason already told you my story. I’m sure you are just taking pity on me.” She drank her tea and looked at our view. She looked lost in her thoughts. And I knew her past was creeping up on her. Me and Malcolm knows that feeling way too well. It gave me a pinch to see her this way.
“No. Even though for years, Mason never stopped talking about you. He never told me YOUR story.” She frown stared at me. I couldn’t read her face or sense her feeling.
“Why you want to know anyways. It’s just going to make you reject me quicker. I don’t have this happy life you think I have.” She started to get angry. My intentions wasn’t to piss her off. Even though YES, she cute mad. This was like a whole other type of mad.
“I wasn’t…” She cut me off before I can explain myself.
She stood up throwing her head, arms and body everywhere out of angry. I got up and tried to grab her hand. I wanted to calm her down, knowing my touch will help. But she yelled at me to not touch her. And she continue to shout at me about how useless it is for us to try. How fake mate bonds and love is. I just allowed her to yell while she started to hit my chest.
“You need to help her.” Malcolm said but I shook my head.
“No, she needed to let it out.”
He yelled at me, “she’s hurt, in pain, help her Travis!” And I shook my head again.
“Look at her, she never allowed herself to released this kind of anger before.” Malcolm tilt his head with high ears at me. “She needs to just yelled this out.”
Malcolm lay down and watch Elizabeth yell and hit us over and over again. “She’s crying Travis, I can’t just stand here and watch her.” I know how he feels.
“I know, me neither.” So I waited until it was a good time to pull her in. Once she stepped away to catch her breath. I took my chance and pulled her into my chest.
I brushed her hair and held her tight. Allowing her to calm down and release all the pain she been holding in. “Sshh its okay.” I whispered to her.
Feeling her sobbing everything she needed to. Her body rocked with mine until it steady. I felt a huge breath of release once her breathing started to match mine. She just stayed there in my arms, until she was okay. At first, I never wanted to let go. I wanted us to stay here. I wanted to keep her away from anything or anyone who can hurt her like this again. She is all too perfect in my hold.
How can anyone fit so perfect in another’s arms?
And f**k, Elizabeth fit so perfect in mine.
It broke me to see her like this. It boil my blood to just wonder what happen to her. Who hurt our mate so bad she couldn’t believe in love in return. Elizabeth believes so much that we will never make it. That we will end in agony if not worst. I can’t believe or even think of that. I still wanted to hope for our happy ending. I still wanted to try with her. I want her to be my mate more than I wanted to be an Alpha. I just don’t know how I can convince her.
“Give her time. She will agree.” Malcolm reassure me.
“How when she thinks this is a mistake. And our feelings aren’t even real?” My heart broke more and more. I hated myself for not knowing a way to make our mate be with us.
“Just wait Travis.” I sigh to myself hoping Malcolm is right. Otherwise, today will be our last day.
“You don’t have to tell me anything. We have time. When you are ready, you can tell me.” I whispered while I continue to stroke my fingers through her hair. Her body felt like it was molding into mine and I adore her body against mine so bad. It aches.
“I want this, I want her.” Malcolm pleaded.
When she felt like she was okay, she stared up at me. Her eyes swollen than ever. “Travis, why do you want to try with me? You know we can’t.” I wipe away her tears. Hating it’s because of me.
“Because you feel like trying. And I want to try, I don’t care about anything else or anyone.” Hoping if I speak from my truth, she will want to try.
“This may break us. And after everything, it may feel like dying in the end.” She gasped and her body started to cracked underneath me.
I lift her cute chin and caress her lips with my thumb. Wanting to taste her so bad. Yet I’m aware that if I kiss her, it can lead to more. But not like this, not when she’s crying in total pain.
“I want to try Elizabeth. Even if you don’t want to anymore, one day. At least I had the pleasure to say I tried with one of the most beautiful witch I ever lay eyes on.” I notice she was staring at my lips, I couldn’t help but tease her. So I licked mine to make her think of kissing me one day.
“Come sit down.” I nudge my head. She sigh in such grief. My free hand clench heavily at the sound of her sobs.
We sat down. And ate some of the food. After a little bite, I thought it was time for me to tell my problems. “You know, even though I grew up to one day taking over my pack. The Black Harvest.” She looked at me with full attention. “I never really knew how much pressure is put on you. Every little things is in our hands. And if I make the wrong move, everyone I love can die.” I clear my throat a little. “When I took over for my father I didn’t have the full respect from anyone because I was so young. And I took the one advice my father always told me growing up with. Fear! Let them fear you more than everything. So when someone first showed me disrespect I took his head off and confronted his secrets to his Luna.” Her eyes widen slightly at me. I couldn’t look at her, thinking she thought I was a monster.
“I continue this act until that’s all was left. No one challenge me again after that.” I went on to explain the rules to her on how his pack became mine. “What made things harder for me. Was that, on my father’s death bed he warn me about a ex-lover he had. I thought nothing about it but he explain that she was coming after us because of their affair. I found some stuff in his study that he left for me. Telling everything I needed to know.” I told her about their letters and Devin only being a few years younger than me. I told her everything.
“No one knows besides you?” She asked. I shook my head no.
“His Beta and Gamma knew. And I told mine as well.” I explain how they showed up at his funeral and obsessively they have been calling. I even told her how Mason convince me to just set up a meeting with Devin.
“So what are you going to do?” She asked.
“I don’t.. we just have to see how the meeting goes.” We went on to finish our food.
And then she called my name. “Travis?” I hum to her because my mouth was full of food. “Why didn’t you say anything about my mom? I know you can tell?”
I swallow fast. “Ask what? That she’s human?”
“Yeah.” She replied.
“I figure you got the witch part from your father. So with your mother being a mortal, I didn’t question anything. Beside she was very sweet.” I didn’t think it was something big to ask.
“No, I didn’t get it from him.” Wait what? If neither of her parents are witches, then how is she one?
She clears her throat to tell me everything. Wolf attack, orphanage, adopted parents, the shunning, it all. I reassure her that they’re all lost without her because she’s an amazing person. Then she told me about her twin sister and how they reconnected again. Her sister told her birth parents about her and some how everyone thought she was dead. That didn’t make me feel any better when she said their coven wants her to come back.
“I don’t trust them.” I nod to Malcolm. “Someone lied about her death.” He adds.
After she told me a few things about herself, I was happy she was able to open up to me. I didn’t want her to do so unless she felt like she was okay. And then she asked to meet Malcolm. I asked if she was sure and Malcolm howl with excitement.
“Just take it easy with her.” I beg him. And then I allow Malcolm to surface.
He reassure her all our feelings and how happy we are to have her as our mate. And this dumb ass had to ask her about Oliver and Mason. It really bother us to know she met his wolf and how close he is to her parents. But at least we know they never had any secret feelings for each other. Once they were done talking I suggested we head back to the car.
On the way back to Elizabeth house, we stop by to grab some popcorn chicken to share while we tell stories. Malcolm thought it was funny to tell her about the time I forget to buckle my belt in school. And my pants fell down in the middle of playing jump rope. Like come on, I was only 6. But as always, anything is worth it when it comes to keeping her happy. Just the sight of hearing her laugh brings my soul to life. I don’t care for anything if it wasn’t for her smile.
And then we came to a stop. “Okay here we are.” I parked up by the curb again.
“Thank you Travis. I had a great time with you.” She laughed.
“Even the hike?” I joked.
“Yes, even the hike.” God those eyes, I’ll do anything to see that shine over and over again.
“Okay ask her man, ask her now.” Malcolm getting impatient.
So I took a deep breath and hope today ends with good news. “Elizabeth I need to ask you one last question.” Nodding her head at me. “Before today, I know I wanted to try for as long as I can. And I still do. But I do need to know if you do?” I looked at her, looking at me. Waiting for the answer that can tell how it will be for us.
“Yes Travis. I do want to try.” Malcolm jump and howl in my ears. Happy as hell. I couldn’t content my joy. I mentally jump with him.
But then that means I need her to do something. “Okay with that being said, I need you to say goodbye and pack your stuff. I need you to live in the pack house with me.” I said slowly. I was nervous for her reply. But I do need her close to me. I need her to move in with me to keep her safe. You never know.
