Travis
I don’t know how I feel these days. I’ve been going in and out about all this mess. Everything I found and read about. All these s**t of a mess my father left for me! For me to deal with. For f**k sakes! Why couldn’t it be anything else? But no!! It had to be some vendetta from an old lover of his. Some w***e who got pregnant with another Alpha, ha! What’s the f*****g w***e s**t was that! What the f**k did she think would happen? My father loved my mother too much to leave her. His pack was everything to him, after his mate of course. Fransisco would give his left hand for his mate. There’s no doubt in that.
With everything I have learn over time and time again. It all made clear to me on how father’s brain worked. How he made every decision. How he thought out every move before he even took them. That every step he took as an Alpha was the right step. Even in others eyes, it’s was insane or wrong. But at the end of every met, it was the right call. With being Alpha means making the right call. It’s a hard call too. Not everyone is capable of making those calls. That’s why we have many alliances. Because some Alphas are not as smart or strong for those calls. And a stronger army for war is greater than any weapon. Yes we are wolves and can be very vicious. But we are just like anyone else alive. We can be naive and dull, we can be tricked and outsmarted.
There are a lot more to winning a war. And my father knew this better than anyone else. My grandfather before his father was one of the greatest Alpha alive. He took no mercy and aline a place for our pack. We wouldn’t be who we are without him. And my father kept that in tack when he retired. That’s why I wanted to work just as hard and do what’s right. I want to make the right decisions for the good of my pack. I’m just hoping that I am already.
It’s only been a few years and we have had a good few years too. But I do rethink my choices. Thinking maybe, there were a better one. Maybe I didn’t have to kill someone to just make a point. “But it did feel good!” Malcolm whispers in my ear.
“Yes, yes it does.” I reply with a sigh.
“Don’t doubt yourself Travis. You’re doing great. We are right where we want to be.”
Malcolm was right. I was doubting myself. I never doubt myself but once in awhile I look back on everything and think why I made the choice I did. Malcolm tries to tell me that every choice was right and better off. Without Malcolm I think I would go crazy. I don’t know how I would make anything work. I always thought, once I took over. I thought maybe father would be here. I probably would of made the same calls maybe.
“And he would tell you, the same thing I do. Don’t doubt yourself.” Ugh, father would.
“Alpha? Alpha? Alpha!” Beta Mason calls out. I shook my vision and fix my posture.
“Yes Beta.” Clearing my throat.
“Okay, well Gamma go on.” Mason told Sarah to continue. She c***s her head and finish.
“Like I was saying, everything is in order. All items have been call for stock. And the border lines are good. We do have a meeting coming up with another Alpha. But he has not conform if he needs help.” I nod to Gamma. Feeling good with all the calls this month.
“Good, very good guys.” I said. Everyone nods sightly back.
My men have been doing good. Even some of the women I have on my team. We don’t have much that like to go off to war, but they’re good to train. It shows how some warriors think against their opponents. Just because they’re a woman doesn’t mean s**t anymore. And the ones I have, are tough bastards.
“Any messages or duties to still take order? What’s our stands?” I asked.
“None, we wait for orders for training with the other Alpha, and, mmh.” I stare at Gamma stuttering her words.
“Go on, talk.” Saying with my Alpha voice. Beta and Gamma made a quick look and then Gamma straighten her back.
“The Luna’s son from the Phoenix Sons keeps calling. Asking for a. ..” I cut her off and reply with a NO. “He is relentless Alpha.” My jaw tick at the thought of Devin calling again.
“Yes, I know Gamma. Keep pushing his call aside.” I closed my laptop. Ready to end this meeting. I hear just a silence while everyone stares at each other. “What?!” I spit at them.
“Alpha if I may?” Beta calls out. I look over and give him a stone look.
Again he exchange looks with Gamma. And I knew that they have been talking about something. God I hope it’s not about this mate s**t again. “I do think if you give them one meeting. It can shut down their forcefulness.”
I look over and crack my knuckles. Beta ticked and he thought I would yell at him. “You think I should throw the pup a bone?” I asked him.
“In a way, yes Alpha.”
I laugh a smirk and thought he can be right. Devin has call nonstop. Trying to call for a meeting, I know why. But I didn’t want to deal with it. The pup needs to heel and stay put. His mother should have learn that from my father, a long, long time ago.
“Hear them out.” Malcolm said.
It took them a year before they started instating an alliance. But I know better than that. I know that’s not the reason for this meeting. I know it had to be Syline coming for my pack and my title.
“It might stop the calls Alpha. Even if whatever they ask for is not acceptable.” Mason said and I look blankly at him.
Holding my sharp tongue. “We know what they want. It will be useless to have a meeting.” They think they can worn me down.
“Alpha, Beta is right. The Luna may stop, once we gave them one meeting. Set things straight with them. Put our foot down.” Gamma said firmly.
I let out a big sigh. “Fine. Next call, set up a meeting. Have it here then. Tell him to come alone. No more than two guards, no fuss. Keep it quiet and simple.” I reply, both look shock at me.
“You are excuse, go on your days.” They nod their heads. I flip my chair. Hearing footsteps leave the room.
“Alpha?” I look up to see Mason was still here.
“Beta?” I replied tiredly at him.
“Travis, can we talk?” I knew then that Mason was going to ask me for a favor. It’s always some favor with him.
“What is it this time Mason?” I turn my chair to him. Mason stood up and smiled at me.
“I think you been a bit stress lately.” I laugh, he’s right I am but that’s the job.
“Okay, and?” Mason look at me unease.
“There’s a party coming up this week. And I think you can use a time out. Be with some kids and have fun. Just one night man.” I glare at him.
“Kids? I’m too old for your high school parties!” This wasn’t the first time he ask. I didn’t want to attend to those things.
“Travis come on? Something different.” Mason suggested to a new scene.
“Mason we can go to the clubs and have just as much fun.” I can get better liquor there too.
“Ugh, Travis man. Look my friend Liv is coming this time. I want you two to meet.” Mason was hang up with this girl. He says they’re just friends but I don’t know. He was always talking about her. And always wants me to meet her.
“What makes you think she’ll show up? From what you tell me. She’s not a party girl.” I replied, tiredly.
“Not anymore but she will show up this time. And if not, maybe she can come by and have a tour?” I turn quick and stood up from my chair. Stepping close to him.
“You know the rules about witches, Beta.” Saying Beta with a strong Alpha tone behind it.
Mason knows how untrusting witches can be. I know he says she’s not like any other witch. But I can’t just trust his word. We can’t just have a witch walking around here. She can be using him for our enemies. You just don’t know with them. And Mason knows this. I don’t understand why he keeps ranting on about having her here. It’s not going to happen.
“I know, but Liv is harmless. Trust me Travis, you’ll see that.” I shook my head at him. And he growls at me.
“Mason why don’t you stop chasing her and sleep with anyone else.” I chuckled.
“Gross man, Liv is a sister to me. She’s my best friend.” I put a fake pout on.
“And I thought I was your best friend. Has this witch replace me?” I asked, Mason smirk at me. Knowing I was joking.
“Which is why I keep insisting for you two to meet. One night, Travis?” Goddess maybe I should throw him a bone too. Only then would he stop asking me.
“Fine!” I said and his ears rose.
“Great, I’ll tell the girls.” He cheered happily. “Ohh and Travis?” Mason calls before walking away.
I glare at him. What else does he want?! “Dress nice, maybe your mate will be there!” Mason smile and I growl furiously at him.
“Don’t start Mason. I already said yes. Take the win and leave, now.” I was growing irritable. Malcolm believes this is funny. He was rolling over and laughing. He knew there had to be another reason for Mason asking me to this teen woods party.
“Thank you Alpha.” He nods his head and walks out.
I shook my head and throw my head back. I swing my chair around displaying this party and meeting. Was this bone worth it?
“He was right, and you know it.” Malcolm said. I growl at him, I didn’t want to hear it.
“Come on Travis. You can’t ignore me. You got a mate out there. And she might be at the party waiting for you.” Malcolm laugh at my place.
“Whatever.” I keep telling myself to not start this argument with anyone. I’m too tired of having this mate talk. She’ll come when she comes.
“Haha, you are going to have fun, drink, dance, and find a mate and have some crazy s*x when she comes home.”
“I look forward to just the drinks and s*x with my hand.” I reply.
“Our mate Travis. I can feel it. She is going to be there.” I snarl at Malcolm knowing he is wrong. She not going to be some girl at a teen party. She just somewhere on the other side of the world. Not a kids party.
“You just want to ran in the woods with her wolf.” I hiss at him. Malcolm waggle his tail at the idea.
“And you want to lay underneath her beauty knowing we’re going to have lots of pups.” He snickers.
The idea of finding our mate, was nice. Just makes me feel a tiny bit excited to this thing. Starting a whole new life with our wolf mate will be nice. Experience all new things with her. Hearing about the mate bond was like believing in fairy tales. You don’t know if it’s real. Only until you know for yourself.
“Ugh, maybe one day Malcolm. One day we’ll have our mate in our arms. In our bed. Doing great things in this world together.” I sigh lowly. Feeling defeated with this mate search.
With my life. She may be sea away. And even then. I’m not worthy.
Devin
This has been a war ground prep here. Mother was always on her toes waiting for something. She repeats the same thing over and over again. Telling the pack to prep for new highs. Be alert for changes. But nothing has happen in years. Everything has been the same beside my father’s death.
My real father, for that is. I haven’t seen him in years. I don’t know what happen? He would come for visits to see mother and I. Teach me things, that my Alpha didn’t. But then he stopped. I didn’t know what happen, I ask mother but she had no answers. Mother would go away for a while, she didn’t say where. But I figure she was with him. I could always smell him on her. And then it stopped.
Just one day she changed. She had this sad bubble around her. Yet Alpha raised me like a son, even thou he was not my real dad. Mother had told me at my youth who my real father was. But to always address Alpha as if he was mine. At first, I didn’t questioned it. And when I did, she told me the real story.
How she fell in love with another Alpha. They got pregnant and he wanted nothing to do with us. He didn’t want to hurt his mate. But then his mate died and they reconnected. Soon Alpha found out and went off to war. Mother and Alpha fought that morning before. And the next day, Alpha was killed. They said he was corned and ripped apart by many wolves. I remembered mother’s words. “What an awful way to go. Could of been worst.” She was cold about his death. She didn’t sherd one tear for him.
It was like she didn’t cared. Alpha was my father, no matter what blood I had running through me. He stayed around. He stayed and loved us. Even with his Luna being unfaithful for years. He was the only father I had. It broke my heart to hear about his death. I was still young but he was my father. I address Fransisco as father until after his absence. He didn’t want me. So that makes him no longer my father. Besides, Alpha was like my real father, he’s the one whom raised me. Not Fransisco. Showing up here and there with toys and training skills wasn’t gonna change our relationship. Yet again. When he was gone. Mother changed again. No more sadness or cries at night. Her eyes went dark with a mischiefed smile. That’s when her ambition about the Black Harvest grew. This was her lovers pack.
She said I was suppose to be given the title of the next Alpha. That on the day of their departed, he promised her. Supposedly he promised many things to her. And of course he never lived up to them. So mother said she will get what she was promised. No matter what.
We trained like any other packed. I prepared like any other heir. I didn’t care about Fransisco lied promises, nor do I care about him or his pack. I was claiming for this one. The Phoenix Sons, this was my home. They were all I needed. I trained to uphold and lead this pack. The only way I wanted to take another, was the right way. Which rules states, if an Alpha is kill by another Alpha. Then that pack will belong to him.
So for a long time, mother had me train with the best of the best warriors. Said that Fransisco was a great warrior and killing him was going to be tough. I just nod, knowing arguing with mother was worthless. She was on this vendetta and I thrive on her happiness. So if killing her lover, my father, to make her happy. Then so be it.
But then there was another task to take care of. Fransisco and his mate had a son, Travis Armani. My older half brother, he didn’t know of me. She never told me her plan for him, not until a few years back. The day we met on Fransisco’s funeral.
Mother was heart broken, but her eyes flicked with rage. Everyone stayed away from her. Anything would piss her off, she killed on sight. One wrong move, word, breath, DEAD. It was best to just nod and do as she asked, she was LUNA.
She had me go to my Fransisco’s funeral. Their pack was huge and loved by many others. I met a few Alphas who I never met before. We try to make alliance with some but many ignore us. Others simply just laugh but agree to an all peace aside. Some of them didn’t take our pack serious after our Alpha died. But a few alliances is really all we needed.
The day Travis and I met, you could sense the tension between us. But I hold myself tall, I can give too shits about him. Besides now that Fransisco was dead, mother thought we could talk to Travis and make alliances. Tell him the truth, if he hasn’t already known. But then mother found out Travis took over as Alpha on Francisco’s death bed. Mother was angry but made a new plan. Get him to sign over his pack. Combine both and together we separate and lead our packs. I was shook at her plan. I thought she would want me to kill him. But when I suggested the idea, mother pin me to the wall and demanded me to never suggest Travis’s death again.
“No harm will come to Travis’s head!” Mother’s wolf rage at me, strangling me until I summit.
I didn’t get why she cared. But I learn quick she loved my brother. Her top Delta told me about all her trips. She would stay with him and take care of Travis. That once Fransisco’s mate had died. It was hard on Travis. So at times she will help look after him when Fransisco couldn’t. The Delta said she grew love for him. When Fransisco broke up with mother the second time. She was heart broken that she couldn’t see Travis again. Over time I figure she forgotten but her face when she met him again. Was pure happiness. She couldn’t stop looking at him and Fransisco’s gave. I knew than that she stilled care for him. That’s why she wants him alive.
After all this, mother had been demanding me to call and set up a meeting. Said it should be easier now that Travis is Alpha. What a lie it was. Mother grew irritable when Travis wouldn’t call back. She believed so much that they still had a connection. She was wrong once again.
I figure he must of found out the truth and wanted nothing to do with us. Couldn’t lie when I feel the same way. I wanted no part of Fransisco’s old life, but mother did. So she kept insisting to call and call until we got a meeting. It has been 3 years and still nothing. We couldn’t even get a hold of the secretary. We always be put on hold once they hear our name or even seen our number pop up. Only to get disconnect after a minute. I just try my best and call when I can, hoping to get through.
“Devin?” Mother calls out from the table.
“Yes Luna?” I responded.
“When was the last time you called your brother?” I clear my throat, knowing she won’t be happy with my respond.
“This morning, Luna.” Mother smile.
“Good news, I hope?”
“I’m sorry Luna, but. .” Mother rose up and throw a silverware at me. I dodge it before it can get my eye.
“Try again! And don’t disappoint me.” She yelled.
I sigh lowly to myself and reply with a respected, “yes Luna.”
Mother sat back down and whispered to herself. “One simply job, that’s all you had. What kind of Alpha would you be?” She laugh under her breath and my wolf growl at her comment. I stayed neutral.
A few days later I got the nervous to try to call him again. “Okay, come on. Just pick up one time, asshole.” I tapped my foot on the hard wood floor. Waiting to be put on hold for the millionth time. After a few second, a woman’s voice came through.
“Black Harvest office, who is calling?” My wolf jumped with excitement. Feeling like this might be it.
“Hello, this is Devin D’Muse. Calling on my mother, Luna’s behalf. Is Alpha Travis able to speak?”
The woman grew silence. And I knew what she was going to say. “I am sorry D’Muse, Alpha is unable to come to the phone right now. May I ask what you call about?” I took the kind woman’s offer and ask for a meeting. “Yes sir. Alpha has address us for a meeting with your pack.”
I stupidly said out loud, “oh really.”
“i***t!” My wolf said.
“Yes sir. We have a date available in 2 months.” She tells me.
“Great, I will be there then.” Before I can say thank you, the woman told me about demands Travis had for my arrival. I don’t know how mother will respond with it, but I agreed.
“Great, I will let Alpha know. Goodbye Mr. D’Muse.” I said goodbye and hang up the call.
I felt a bit of success and failure. Knowing I had gotten our meeting aline but only I was to attend it. I made my way down the hall and into Alpha’s old office. Which mother had made for her own. I knock and mother yelled for me to entered. “Yes dear?”
I stand tall and prepare myself. “I have good news mother.” Mother turns with a sightly raise eyebrow. “I have arrange a meeting, in 2 months with Alpha Travis.”
Her reaction change quick but blank. “2 months.” She spit and walk towards me.
“It was all they had.”
“Mmhh, I figure we waited long enough.” She closed the space and rubbed my cheek. “Ohh well, a few more weeks won’t hurt. Good job son.” Mother walk away and back to her desk.
“We are making moves. That’s good my boy.” I can hear a small joy in her voice. Very rare.
“Yes mother.” She turn to give me a glare. She didn’t like it when I call her mother. Only Luna.
“Things will be just as I promise my dear. You’ll see, after this meeting we will get everything we deserve.” I let a small crook smile.
“Yes, Luna. Whatever makes you happy.”
“You alway do whatever makes me happy boy. Thank you.” Mother said.
I took the coward way and left. While she returns back to work. She was happy right now. I didn’t want to ruined it by telling her, she was not invited to the meeting. Goddess knows how she’ll react.
“p***y ass.” My wolf snarl at me.
“Whatever, you know it’s better to wait.” I told him, he knows how mother’s anger is. She has taken her rage out on him too.
“Yeah, well you’ll see how she would react after you tell her the truth.” He walks in a circle and lay down.
“We will come to it when we need to.” My wolf blows air and shuts his eyes.
Over all, I was just glad to make a meeting.
