Travis
“Yes Alpha, everything is in order. You can expect their arrival tomorrow evening.” Hearing a small click over the speaker.
“Ah, yes. I see right here.” Another packed Alpha said. “And how come, I see about 4 females name on my list. Why is that?” The arrogant Alpha asked.
“You did asked for our best warriors to train with, did you not?” Feeling a bit tired of him thinking he can tell me what to do.
“Yes Alpha Travis I did. But I did. ..” I cut him off.
“Then you should be plead by who I chose to help you.” I replied.
This Alpha was a bit old school and doesn’t quite respect women in this time of day. “I just think my team will be fine with just your men. But if you want I can have them assign to something else.” I heard a light chuckle. And I knew what he was getting at.
“Alpha Nat?!” I said with a high tone.
“Yes, Alpha Travis?” Time to put him in his spot.
“My team is only being sent to you out of respect. I do not need to help, due to my alliance with your enemy.” He grunt lowly through the speaker. “My female warriors are one of the best. Train under my Gamma who has put down more men than you can in a month.”
He tried to say something but again I cut him off. “If you don’t want my warriors, that’s fine. But you always won’t have a chance to win. Besides, a man’s ego can only hold up so well until a woman who is 10 times more stronger than him. Which I promise, my women will do. So don’t let your ego cost you a war, Alpha Nat.” I lean back my chair to wait for his reply.
“Fine. All your warriors are fine Alpha.” He gravel with annoyance.
“Yah, great. Love to help the needed ones.” I chuckle to him.
“We do appreciate your help, Alpha Travis. I will let you know once your warriors has arrival.” He replied.
“Good day Alpha.” Can’t contain my smirk, only wishing his old ass can see it.
“Good day Alpha.” I hang up right away.
Again this Alpha is from the up north, he was also very, very old school. Which got them on the wrong side of another pack, who I was also an alliance with. Which state I can not sent my warriors or myself to the field upon war unless I want one myself. Beside this arrogant Alpha is not as strong as the other. Which is why he called me for help. I can only send my best warriors to help train his without betraying my treaty with the other Alpha.
“I knew he was going to bring some s**t up about them.” For the last few years, female wolves have took a step in fighting beside men. Making a huge impact on the field. It is quite a scene to see how quick a man react once they realize how uninnocent these women are.
“Yeah, but you know Alpha Nat. He hardly allows his wife speaks for herself.” Malcolm reminds me.
“Yeah I know. I also didn’t had to help him at all.” I chucked.
“Yeah, well he offered his finesse case of whiskey.” The only reason I agree to this s**t.
Alpha Nat may be stuck in the old time. But he has one of the finesse collection of liquor. “I was just waiting for him to say one more disrespectful thing before I pull my offer.”
Malcolm laugh as I did too. “Imagine the look on his face if you did.”
Again I say out loud, “arrogant old man.”
Right when I get off the phone, I hear a knock on my door. “Come in!” I retreat.
“Hello Alpha.” Mason seem a bit happy, walking into the meeting room. What the f**k is with him?
“Can I help you Beta?” Leaning more on my chair.
“I just wanted to remind you that the party is tonight.” I flash him an unease look. Here we go again. “You do remember about the party Travis?” Mason tilt his head like he was older than me.
I sigh lowly. “Yes, Yes. The party near the woods. All you teens and college brats.” I said sitting upright.
“Yeah. Well Liv is still coming.” He said cheery. I still think he may have a thing for her. He can say, she’s just a little sister all he wants but I won’t be surprise if they hook up one day. “And I just got to shower, get dress and pick the girls up.” Mason recites his list to me. As if all week he hasn’t been reminding me about this damn thing.
“I’m not riding in a car with drunk teenage girls Mason. I’ll drive myself.” Yeah last thing I need is to help Mason with one of his drunk friends.
“That’s fine. Beside Connie didn’t get a gift she wanted on her birthday this week. So most likely she’ll just get a ride from some dude.” I rise an eyebrow at him.
“Connie is the other witch, correct?” I ask and Mason nods a yes. “She the one who hooks up a lot?” I ask again.
“Ahh for say she did before her ex. And now she says she gonna save it for her mate.” We both laugh, knowing that won’t happen.
“I give her tonight before she screws that up.” Mason agrees and nods.
“Just don’t forget to dress nice man. I have a feeling your mate might be there.” He said and I roll my eyes at him.
“So do I Mason, so do I.” Malcolm jump around.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go do your job and I’ll see you there.” Rolling my eyes at him. I say nothing more. Not wanting to get into this mating talk with him.
“Alright Alpha. I’ll let you know once we’re close by. And don’t be a asshole.” Mason scowl at me.
“I’m not an asshole. Just honest.” Scowling back.
His obsession of me impressing his little girl best friend is dumb. Who the f**k cares.
“Not with Liv, Travis. I mean it. She had enough with assholes as it was.” By Mason’s look, I knew he was serious. My Alpha side wanted to come out and remind him who he was talking to. But Malcolm sat me down.
“Fine, God damn it. I’ll be nice but I won’t hold her hair back when she drinks too many shots and throwing up in my car.” Reminding him, his friend is his duty not mine.
“I’ve been taking care of Liv since we were 8. I won’t stop now.” His eyes flick and his wolf replied for him.
“Whatever, I do not care.” Waving my hand at him to leave already. I don’t need this talk with him. “Leave me be. I have calls to make.” I flick my hand out to him once more.
“Bye Alpha.” His wolf Oliver nods and walks out my office.
“Geez it’s just a f*****g party. Why is he making it such a big deal.” I huff, while opening my laptop.
“Because he knows as much as I do. That you’ll gonna meet your mate and he wants you to behave yourself. As do I!” Malcolm growls at me. I scratch my forehead.
“Just don’t be all Alpha tonight. Off call man. Have fun and forget about all this shit.” I sigh loud, thinking if I should just ditch the party and go to the club instead.
“Don’t man. We are going.” f**k I forgot we share a mind. “Don’t make me take over and force it on you!” I growl at him.
“Fine!” I yelled at him.
“Good. And don’t forget to shower, you stink.” Malcolm whin in my head.
I sniff my armpit and a smell of sweat mix with who knowns hits me. “Ahh f**k. I do stink.”
“Told you.” I shook my head.
I went on to finish my work and clean myself up. I put on regular clothes beside my Alpha slacks or suit on. And then I got my keys and headed to the party. This wasn’t my first time there. Before I was Alpha, I use to come to these parties all the time. But then of course, all this boys s**t had to get behind me. So I started going to the clubs instead.
*RIING RIING*
My phone rings and it was Mason. “What!!” Already irritated with him and Malcolm for making me agree to this s**t.
“Just making sure you’re not bailing on us.” I hear girls giggling through the phone.
“No! I’m almost there anyways.” Trying not to be an asshole.
“Good, the girls and I will see you in 20 minutes.” I hang up once I hear one of the girls call my name with a giggle.
“All you have to do is be nice man.” Malcolm told me.
“I will try, but no promises.” Malcolm roll his eyes and lay down.
After about 10 minutes, I was already annoy by all the people. For what I remember there were different kind of parties here. You can tell by what the code name is set as.
Blood moon were mainly just for witches.
Full moon were for the werewolves.
Crescent moon was for everyone to party together.
Red moon were for vampires.
(This was stupid because vampires party all the time, the alcohol helps their cravings.)
“Damn it Mason! Where the f**k are you?” I looked around, check my phone. Nothing, I was starting to think he and the girls ditch me.
“Ohh relax. They will be here.” Malcolm lift his tired head at me.
“Yeah well it had been 30 minutes since he called.” Malcolm rolled his eyes at me and I just walk off looking for another drink. I wasn’t about to stand around in the parking lot. He said he’ll be here soon, he can come find me.
“Hey cutie you want one pure tonight?” A girl ask while pulling all her hair to one side. She was human and looked drunk already. She was cute but she already assumed I was a vampire.
“I’m not the one, you think you want.” I flash my wolfs eyes at her and she gasp.
“Sorry, I only like vampires.” She quickly ran off and I couldn’t help but chuckle at her stupidity.
Right then I heard a laugh behind me. “I see you are still trying not be an asshole, man.” I turn around to see Mason with a girl beside him.
“That doesn’t count. Stupid human thought I was a blood sucker.” Rolling my eyes while I chug my drink. Gaging at the taste. Gross this s**t was cheap.
“Ohh that’s vamp Amy. Everyone knows she has a kink for those things. Just don’t mind her, she’ll find one by the end of the night.” The girl laugh and I raise an eyebrow to her.
“Just don’t mind her Travis. Beside you’re here to meet the girls and your mate, right?” I quickly glare at Mason. And he glare back.
“And who is this?” I asked the girl who must be one of the witches Mason drove here.
“Ohh, sorry. I’m connie.” The girl shirk, like really shirk.
“Ahh what the fuck.” Malcolm laugh.
“Mmh hi. I heard you won’t so happy on your birthday the other day?” The girl frown at me.
“Ugh no! I’m not hating on my Ancestors or nothing. But come on, I’ve been training to be a some kind of healer and all. And I got gifted with Azur Pyrokinesis.” I raise an confuse eyebrow. “It just means I can manipulated blue fire. I wanted to be a nurse. What the f**k am I suppose to do with that?” Mason laugh and I hid my chuckle behind my drinking.
“It’s not funny!” Connie slaps Mason on the shoulder.
“It’s a bit funny.” She rolls her eyes at him.
“So where’s the other witch?” I asked, only seeing Mason with Connie.
“Ohh she saw a classmate on the way in.” Connie let out another weird noise before talking. “I’ll go get her. Wait here wolf boys.” Connie ran off to get the witch.
Mason notice my facial expression and laugh at me. “Yeah, Connie is a bit much but you get use to her.” I scowl at him, not believe a single word.
“I bet she’s quiet while having sex.” I joked and Mason’s reply shock me.
“Yeah, kinda.” My head snapped quick.
“Ahh you motherfucker you didn’t! When?!” I asked, feeling all too proud and surprise.
“Ahh don’t say a f*****g thing man. We were drunk and horny. Beside we weren’t even friends then.” Mason grabbed a drink and chug it down. It was like he was trying not to remember that night.
“Mmhh, okay man. Was it just once?” I tease him.
It got silent for a bit, “no.” I laugh so hard, even Malcolm had to hid his face.
“Ohh shut up. It’s not going on anymore!” Mason was embarrass and I can’t help but tease him about it. After that we spent the next hour or so talking and drinking. Mason try introducing me to some people but I just nod and grunted at them.
“Hey, where’s the girls?” I asked Mason.
“Umm I don’t know. Connie should of found Liv a long time ago. She must of gotten distracted and forgot.” I rolled my eyes while Mason calls the girls. “Alright they said they’re coming now.”
I just nod and watch the people dance on each other. These kids are just stupid and horny. I clearly could of have more fun at the club with better drinks. Then things change once I smelled something.
“Do you smell that?” I looked around to see anything to explain this smell.
“Smell what? We’re by the fire pit!” Mason calls out.
“I smell it too.” Malcolm reassure me that it wasn’t just me.
“Its like, like...” Everything stop once I made eye contact with her. “Hazel nut?” I whisper and Mason hum with confusion.
“Mate!” Malcolm whisper in my ear.
Her scent was so divine. I wanted nothing more than to be near her. To smell her up close and personal. It was like I stepped into a whole new world once her eyes connected to mine and I finally had a face to put the smell to it. Her figure alone caught my attention. With her hair lay out with the moon shining on her. It was like she was made right from the light itself. Created so carefully, and her sweet scent was heaven. She glowed. She must of smelled me too. Because as soon as we met eyes she just took off running into the woods. Of course, I took off to follow her, walking right pass Connie.
“Hey what the hell!” She called out.
“What happen?” Mason asked.
“I don’t know, don’t care. Get me a drink Mason boy!”
I don’t know what was going on. All I knew, was to go after her. Find her and get that first spark of touch. I had to get her.
So I ran and ran, until I lost sight of her for a bit. “Just smell for her. She couldn’t of gone far.” Malcolm said, so I stick my nose in the air. Waiting for her sweet hazel nut smell to come to.
“We can’t lose her. Go man, go!” I took off and notice she just made a huge circle. Thinking I wouldn’t find her. I slowed down my pace and I saw her. I watch her lean back on a tree. Waiting to hear me. She was wrong to think I’ll just leave.
“She smells so delightful.” Malcolm purrs in my ear.
I don’t think I ever heard him make that sound before. Her wolf must be in heat?
I watch as she search around her surroundings. Without knowing, I let a growl out and her head turn my way. Not gonna lie but she was cute as she panted around. Looking for us. She was looking for us. My body move over fast and around her. As she release a breath, I had her pin more to the tree in seconds.
“Mate.” I whispered.
Her hazel nut was so intense, I can taste it. I wanted to taste it. Would she taste like it? Was that how this work? Her forever scent to me. Either way, I caught my treat. We only met eyes for a quick second, and once she saw my eyes flick. She closed her’s, gripping her life to the tree behind her.
“Don’t.” She whispers. I sense fear in her voice. Why was she scared for? Did something happen? Or was it me?
“It’s not us. We’re her mate.” Malcolm tried to explain but I don’t know. I watch her catch her breath until it slows down a bit. Then I lean in close to her but still left space. Her heart was racing.
“You don’t want me.” In a low voice she said. I lay my head on her neck space. Taking in her smell. It leaves a tingle down my system. Triggering a need I must have now.
“Mate.” I repeated again.
“It’s wrong.” I hear a small sob come from her throat.
I take a big whiff for my wolf. Malcolm jumps up and down. Going crazy over her. I ran my fingers down her arm, hoping she will realize I just want to protect her. That I will never hurt her. I just wanted this moment that’s meant everything for us. The minute we lock eyes, our wolf smelling each other. Both breath hitching as one. The bond will hit. I wanted to caress her and let magic work in play. To feel every aspect of her and versa. But the moment seem off when she never open her eyes to me.
“Don’t, just don’t.” She said again. Less sad but still felt a linger of fear in her voice. I was confuse the more she plead.
I don’t get what was wrong. Why did she ran? Was it me? Why is she acting like this towards me? Why can’t she look at us?
I kept her pin, wanting to enjoy this moment. Embrace in this new chapter that the Goddess herself allow for us to encounter. But as I try to sooth her, gentle with my grace. She seemed to be disgusted and thrive, all at once.
“She can scent our uselessness.” I told Malcom.
“She might just be in shook.” I try to believe that. But I couldn’t. This didn’t make sense to me now.
Then the one scent I missed, came in. It hit me hard once I lift her chin up, using my thumb to wipe her tears away. “She a witch.” I whisper to myself. I waited for Malcolm to enlighten me with his wisdom. But he seemed just as shock as I was.
Her fear, adrenaline, hazel nut, and my own. It clouded the one scent from me. We were so lost on the aspect of finding her, to having her in every way we can. We didn’t notice.
“That’s why she ran, because of me.” Malcolm shook his head at my exposer.
I didn’t want her like this. Even at the best and worst moment. I hated to see her like this. My heart pinch to its walls as I realize the truth. And the knowing that it was all because of me. Made everything even 10 times worst. So before anything else can happen, my bond for her kick in. My need as her mate click. I couldn’t do this if she was disgusted with me at first sight. I can’t do it. I can’t indulge in this if she won’t be in it with me. If she doesn’t want me.
Seeing her this way was the worst rejection she could of done. Her lips quiver and I thought one second that maybe my kiss will get her to rethink. Even if she thinks we’re wrong. But if my touch, my scent doesn’t sooth her like it should. Neither would my kiss. So I ran off and left my mate alone in the woods. A river of guilt wash over me, hating all of this. Wishing our encounter could of been different.
“It shouldn’t of been like this.”
I got to my car and mind-link Mason before I drove off. “Mason, I’m heading home. I’ll be in my study, so leave me alone!” I growl at the end.
“Alpha is everything okay. Did you find Liv? Why did you two ran?” Her name made it all so clear. Malcolm howl her name in the air. Wanting to say it out loud.
“Take care of the girls, Beta. That’s an order.” I demanded.
“Alpha, Travis? What happen?” He asked but I got annoyed. Tonight was already a train wreck. And I am in no mood or right mind to explain this to anyone. I can hardly explain it to myself.
“That’s an order BETA!!” I shouted.
“Yes Alpha.” Mason sigh and I closed the link.
Speeding my way back to the pack house. Being over filled with emotions. Reliving our moment over and over again in my head. It hit hard and it hurts. My mate didn’t want me. She couldn’t even look at me. It was the worst failure act I’ve ever had. I done everything wrong. Our moment was a losing battle I never prepared for. She completely regret me at first look. It’s like she knew how must of a failure i’ll be. She knew I was flaw. And I did too.
I had no way in knowing what to do next. I was trapped in her maze, in our haze of reality.
“Liv. Our witch mate. Her name is Liv.” I let a huge sigh out. Knowing the truth of it all now.
“What?” Malcolm asked.
“She doesn’t want us. If we find her again..”
“She’s Mason best friend! We know where to find her, and bring her home.” Malcolm yelped.
“If we find her again, she just going to reject us.” Malcolm whined in denial. “She doesn’t want a wolf mate. Plus i’m an Alpha. Her coven would probably shun her for it.” The thought of having her hate me, just for giving in to our mate bond. It made me hate myself more.
“I don’t want to hurt her. I can’t put her through that.” I sat in my chair, playing with the ice in my cup. Swirling it in the cup as it slowly melts.
“We can’t just leave her. We need to go get her Travis.” Malcolm tried arguing. But he was ignoring how she was in the woods. He thought only of himself. She had already rejected us. Even with her silents. She rejected us.
“We’re not going to bring her home.” I told him, he sat down with a questionable whin. “We’re not even going to think about her.” I took a sip of my drink. Numbing it all.
“Travis she’s our mate we can’t…” I growl to shut him up.
“We are leaving her alone!”
Malcolm whin and stand on all fours. “She my mate too. We waited for way too damn long. I am not letting you doubt ourself to keep us from being happy!” His words can be debatable. “I can take over and live a happy life with her. Don’t make me put you in a cage Travis!”
I threw my glass into the fire, standing up with glowing eyes. I look straight into the mirror. Baring my teeth at him.
“If I say we leave her alone. WE LEAVE HER ALONE! It’s for her happiness Malcolm. SO DROP IT!!” I yelled, wishing I can throw myself into the fire. That way I save us from a true heart break.
If we see her again. She’ll only reject us and the rejection is known to be painful. I can’t think of that. I had to not think at all.
We both spend the night alone. I went off to bed trying to forget about today. But the memory never left me. It kept coming back again and again. Like the Goddess was trying to tell me something. But I knew it was better off as it is now, nothing. She’ll forget us soon enough. And we need to do the same. The less we think, the less we will be drawn to each other. And the better we part. No pain. No pain?
She is better off.
