Travis
Walking around, Mason and I exam the young warriors train today on the field. These were our new warriors who plan to fight and protect their pack. Just making it out of their pup phase. There is a small crowd of people watching the newbies. Mainly held of family members expressing their triumphant. Seeing their pup raise up on the line. Most of the pups who enlisted are long lines of warriors. It shows through their skills. They have train most of their lives and now here they are. All their lives begins at this moment right here. It all starts on day one. And it will be rough on a few of them.
I watch each match go by. Gamma set everyone in groups. Helping to determine where they line. You can see how beaten down a few are from their battles. Others share the same but holds joy as they won.
With varies shouting coming around. I pick my head up. Seeing the parents reactions. Each one holds a different kind of exposer. Some worry, some sad and mix. Some mad, and some bolt of joy. But as they watch their child win or lose. I get lost at the parents who encourage their pups. Jumping in the air and shouting from their places. Hands flying everywhere with their movements. But that’s not what caught my eye. What caught me was how they support their pup side by side with their mate.
There were two type of parents I see. The one I am very much use to. Bringing back my own memories when I used to train all day and night with father. It was hard for mother to watch most days. But when it came down to the important ones. She stayed throughout the whole time. No matter how awful it may look from her sideline. I was young but fought above my class. Over seen this, I knew how she felt about it. But everyday. She will held my hand that had dirt and blood on it. Telling me how good of a job I am doing. Even when in her eyes. I saw her fear. She was still that proud parent. Just the same as her mate was about her son becoming a man. His father had no worry. For he had train his child for years to come.
Now the other parents I see is the one I was not use to. But made me think maybe this was me and my mate one day. Some day we will watch over our son as he train for the first time. Walking side by side with all the other warriors. We will cherish every moment with him. With a proud smile spread cross our faces.
“Hey? You alright man?” My bubble pops as Mason’s voice broke through.
“Yeah. Just remembering our first time.”
Mason chuckle as his mind brings back his time. “I remember both our time. That was a good day huh?”
“Yeah. Hell of a good day.” We embrace into memory lane.
As soon as training was over I made a speech to them all. Thanking them for their gratitude in stepping forward to this new chapter in their life. There be good days and bad days. It will be hell and back when the times come. To always remember we are stronger as a pack. We are nothing if we don’t have it. So we must do what is needed to protect it. To protect our love ones. Even if it means to take another mans life.
I turn to Gamma who took charge in this class. “Gamma please have them run a few miles before leaving.”
“Yes Alpha.”
They all bow to me. I check my phone to see the time. Seeing it was time for me to go pick up our gorgeous mate and bring her home once again.
Saying bye I headed to my car where a Delta had it ready for me. I took a nice drive as I came to Elizabeth parents home. In a quiet neighborhood. It was a nice home kept in a well middle class neighborhood too. Had a fence out yard in the back. A two car garage. All the house looked the same with different paint coats. As usual the house only had minimum space between them. Their home stood out as her mom had planted bushes of flowers lining the front of the home. There you see purple, white, and even some pink flowers blooming.
I parked on the side as I always do. Knocked on the door and a sweet angle like Goddess open up the door. She had such a smile, it tick at my heart rate.
Before I can say hello she jumps into our arms. Wrapping hers around our neck tightly. “Did someone miss us?” I ask as I gentle put her down.
She lays her hands on our chest. Bouncing with joy. “I’m just really happy.”
“Good.” Kissing her cheek.
I greet her parents. After a small chat. We said our goodbyes. And headed out. I open up the door for her. Settling in, we buckle up.
“Ohh can you stop by the mall before we head back?” She ask as the car engine started up.
“Only if you give us a kiss.” Leaning over with a smirk. She unbuckles herself and crosses the middle.
Her hands on our leg as she deepest her taste onto us. My body goes crazy with her touch. Her hand near my d**k. I don’t move. I melt into her. Pulling back her eyes shine with delight. I peck her lips for one last kiss. “Now we can go to the mall my witch.”
We spend about 3 hours walking around the mall. I had never been here before. And this was a good four level mall. They had elevators on both sides of the mall. A few restaurants, a daycare, a large gym center, a theater with its own little arcade, and of course the usual stores most malls will keep.
We walked into stores after stores. I made a mental note of a few things our mate hinted to us that she liked but deny on buying it. I don’t know why, but she didn’t like me spending too much money on her. Even when I wanted to buy her this $800 cross bag. Her head almost exploded. She argue with almost everything we wanted to pay for. A few things I had to just grab it, and quickly hand the casher my card. Elizabeth says thank you even with a hard scowl on her face.
I couldn’t even buy a large smoothie with two straw for us. She had to buy two separate ones. We had order two different kinds. And I made sure I tried both.
“Use your own straw.” She complain.
“We share salvia many times Elizabeth.”
“Now you boys don’t get a taste.” She cutely giggle at us.
We pout as she takes a big gulp of her blue berry and dragon fruit mix with coconut milk smoothie. As she ‘ah’ to its wonderful taste. I see a small coat hanging on the edge of her lip. I walk over to her, turning her chair towards me. She stares us down, wondering what we will do next. My finger lifts up her chin and begun to level my face with hers. Darting our tongue out. I lick the mess off of her. Swiping my tongue up and down its corner.
As I pull away her breathing heavies. “It was delicious. Thanks for sharing.”
I take back my seat. And our mate dumbfoundly looks at us. “You two do realize I’m not peanut butter. You can’t just do that.” She didn’t sound mad. I think deep down she enjoyed it.
“Oh we be happy to lick peanut butter off you whenever you are ready.” I winked at her as I take a sip of my drink.
She relax her face. As if she didn’t just imagine it in her head. Her eyes said it all to me. “We’re done here. Let’s go.”
We chuckle internally. Loving how easily it was to make her shy like this. It was the closes we get to being intimate. And it drives me crazy. I’m sure it does for her too. The teasing gets so hot that I can’t only feel it, I can smell it from her. It’s like her incense filling the air. And my nose finds it every time.
We continue to hold all our mates bags and follow her around. We hit the second floor right now. Elizabeth claiming to walk into a candle store. Coming close I lean against the railing. Feeling my feet about to fall off from all the walking.
“Are you boys tired?” She ask.
“Only if you are? Are you?” Rising a pleading eyebrow.
She gives us a kiss on the cheek. “Sit down on the bench. I’ll go in myself. I won’t be long and then we can head to the pack.”
I grab her hand before she walks off. “We will head home. Our home.” She whisper a soft okay. And processes to head into her store. I sit down at the nearest bench. Only 4 stores down from where Elizabeth was.
A few minutes goes by. I stay on my phone as I texted Beta with some work stuff. Then I hear a woman call my name. A woman’s voice I hadn’t heard in a long time. “Travis? Ana’s little Travis? Is that you?”
Malcolm rose in alert. My head snap around as I make out the face to this familiar voice. And right when we recognize the woman. She stop in front of us. Picking at her fingers while she looks us up and down. “Mrs. Miles?”
Her faces lights up when I ask to conform her name. “Wow. You are not the little Travis I use to watch. And last I heard. You took over for your father. How are you?”
We chatted on for a small bit. Catching up with my mother’s old friend. She was a very close friend of hers. She would baby sat me for hours of the days. I hadn’t seen her since mother’s funeral. At the end of our chat she noticed a smell on me. More intense than what an unmated male would have lingering around.
“There’s a girl? Can it be?” Wiggling her brows at me.
I smirk a giggle. Thinking of our mate. “Yeah. She is.. Yeah.”
“I see you haven’t marked yet. Did you two just met?” She asked.
“Yeah. But we’re taking it slow. We both don’t have a great past or trust. So it’s going.”
“Mh. I see.” She scoffed.
“She’s a great girl. I never thought of any sort of thing until her. She open my eyes and..” I swallow hard. Not to say much. “I thank Goddess for her.” I wiped my huge smile as I realize how deep I am falling for this witch.
Tilting her head with a sympathetic look. “Your mother would be happy to see you now. You look well and very much a grown happy man. I wish you well with your mate.” We go in for a hug. Squeezing her tight as it was swell to see her again. “I do expect an invite to the wedding now.” She whispers into my ear.
“Of course Mrs. Miles.” With that being said. The thought of a wedding just cross our mind. It was hard to even get Elizabeth to accept us as a couple and mates. The challenge of even getting her to want our hand would be harder. We may have her now. But going forward. I might just scare her away.
She kisses me softly on the cheek as she cups my face. Searching me. We nod for a goodbye. With her walking off. My eyes search my surroundings. When it reaches down by the stairs. My face complex to see Elizabeth storming off.
“Where is she going?” Malcolm ask.
“I don’t know. Something happen.”
“Well go dumbass.” I rolled my eyes as I chase after our mate. I ran as quick as I can. Only to catch up to her once we reach the car.
I ask what happen. Almost demanding to know why she plan to just leave me deserted at the mall. But she didn’t say anything. She hardly even glance up to look at us in the eyes. Something felt off.
So instead of pushing. We got in and started our drive. When I try to place my hand on her thigh, she aggressively shocks me. I said nothing. Wondering what the hell did I do to deserve that. But halfway down the road. Only us driving through the narrow cut. Elizabeth was clearly piss.
“Stop the car.” She whispers.
“We’re almost home.”
“Stop the car now.” Her tone rose more.
“Elizabeth please..”
“Stop the f*****g car!” She shouted.”
“Baby I can’t just..” In the middle of my sentence she jumped out herself.
“Elizabeth!” Stopping the car fast. She was quick to walk into the woods. She didn’t slow down as we call after her again and again. Then she came into a stop. “Baby what’s wrong? Talk to me.”
She cradle herself. Huffing loudly. She lifted her head up. Almost speaking to the moon. “I’m so stupid.” She whispers. “Why did I even believe you when you say this can work out.”
My whole body wanted to walk to her. Turn her around and touch her. Making her look at us. But we didn’t. We kept our distance. “Will you please just talk to me. I can tell you’re mad. But don’t get why. What happen at the mall?”
“You! You lying dogs!” She shouted with fury eyes at us.
“What the hell we do?” Malcolm ask me.
“s**t I know.” I reply.
Elizabeth walks to us. And we feel her anger damn near heating off of her. “I should of knew better. I kept saying it again and again. But I just had to witness it with my own eyes. I had to. And now I know this was never gonna happen. Everything you said could happen. Now will never EVER happen.”
I was so confuse as to what she was talking about. “I knew I’ll felt too much for you boys. And right when I did. That’s when you find a she wolf. Probably your actually mate.”
“What she wolf? You’re our mate.” Still confuse.
“Don’t hide it. I saw you two. She even kissed you. And you had that f*****g grin on your face.” Kiss? She wolf? What is she.. Oohh s**t! Haha.
I laugh and it only pissed her off more. “Can I explain or do you still need to yell?” I smirk. She says nothing but blow smoke out her ears. “That ‘she wolf’ you saw me HUGGING. Was a old friend of my mother’s that I haven’t since in a long, long time.”
“And the kiss!”
“Was on the cheek. Harmless. But I will tell her next time not to. Did you not sense anything when she did?” I asked her. If I could feel her kissing Connie that day. Then she would be able to feel me kissing someone else.
“I umm.. Umm. No.” She stammer. She relax arms.
I chuckle as I close our space. But she step back. I frown and asked what’s wrong now. I thought if I had clear this misunderstanding. She wouldn’t be so mad anymore. But there was something else.
“It doesn’t change the truth. This was just a sign.” Looking at the ground.
“A sign?” Rising an arch brow.
“I don’t know how any of this is gonna be okay. This shouldn’t be happening. Shouldn’t be having these fights. We shouldn’t be mates. We should just..”
“No! It has only been a couple of days. Barely a month.” I claim. She can’t give up that easily.
“Just stop it!” She holds her hand up.
“No! f**k. Just accept it and stop being so God damn stubborn.” I didn’t mean to use my Alpha voice in such a harsh way. But I did.
And her head creeks up. Wrinkles build on her forehead. “No! You don’t get to make life changing calls. Both of our lives were less chaos before all of this. I can’t be your Luna. It’s not in my nature.”
“Moon Goddess chose you. Not me!”
“Exactly! And you have a choice to go find your she wolf. Someone who’s meant for that life. I don’t have anything for you. I didn’t mean to find you in the first place.”
“Well neither did I!”
The silence that took place was deadly. Only the woodsy crack were heard.
Her chest slow down in deep breaths. “I was fine. I had plans. I already dealt with assholes like you.”
“You think I didn’t.” Rolling my fist in a ball. I felt her anger and mine mixing into one. It was getting hard to control.
“I know enough.”
“You have no clue what I had plan. And it wasn’t this.” Pointing at us both. “This wasn’t the headache I wanted to deal with. I wanted none of it. I ask to let you go a long time ago. And I thought it worked.”
“I told her the same f*****g thing. I didn’t want you or Malcolm. I wanted my own life.” Tears forming at her tear ducts.
“So did we! But we can’t do anything with a mate. I agree years down for anything but a mate.” I blurted out.
“Yeah I was told about laws on Luna finding that applies to finding a bride around somewhere.” Mason must of told her I was thinking of just mating some random girl whom had connections with the title herself. Arrange mates were normal. More for someone like me.
“I was happy with that. It would of been a whole lot easier than this right now.”
“Being alone was so much better. I didn’t have to be tricked into some kind of lie. I wasn’t made to be your wife or anything else. ”
“A bond is not a lie.” It was a connection.
“It is all lies! But at least now you tell me the truth. How pathetic this whole mate crap is. Our relationship is a lie.” She pause. Holding back tears. “I had my own s**t. A mate in the adds just..”
“It’s f*****g up our lives!” I added. She looked blankly at me. “You were happy. I was f*****g happy. Mates took that away. It put only weights.”
“Well cheers. Speak your mind. What a wrong choice the f*****g Alpha finally made.” Throwing her hands up. “A she wolf would be a lot better than a witch right now wouldn’t!”
I hold my tongue. Keeping my feral growl low. And she repeated herself again. Yelling in our face. “Yes! f**k! What else was Goddess means to do. But this wasn’t it. Her plan got mix up. Mixing all this s**t. What hell is going on!” Yelling back. Our nose grace each other.
She nods and step back from me. But that didn’t distance the anger. “Being mates is what’s going on. And we don’t want it anymore.” She choke.
We took a moment. Letting the time settle in. Realizing everything we had said. How the hurt we cause right now. I look in her sad hallow eyes. It pains me. “Being mates isn’t what we expect it to be.” I said. Trying to calm down.
“It should of never happen. And you know it.” Her eyes red to the core.
“Malcolm wanted you. I chose to ignore it. I enjoy my life as..”
“A play boy.” She finish. “You miss your old life. The constant girls in your bed. Having to not deal with a witch like me. You were happy and this f****d it all up.” She cross her arms over her body once again. “I miss mine too.”
“We can’t always have what we want. Now can we.” She looked up at me. Our eyes meet and everything hurts. It was numbing but I felt the aching pinch inside.
“And neither of us wanted this.”
“Not like this. It wasn’t suppose to..”
“Yeah yeah I know. I have heard it all before. I’m not gonna wobble in a fantasy that you made me hope for. You did that!” Again the air thickest. The sky darkening around us.
I scoff to myself. Whipping the sweat off my face. “Why is it always a fight!”
“It’s not! It’s fate. We are not fate!” Sounding so believable from her lips.
“It’s a fight! I’m fighting and for what! For you to keep not fighting. f**k sakes.” I go mad with tiring rage. So much was building up. My fist bare in my hand.
“Go on say it!” She yelled.
“This wasn’t suppose to be so damn hard. Every breath we take is harder and harder. And I don’t know anything anymore. The bond is to bring us together and fall in love. This isn’t what it’s suppose to be.” I added.
“New flash. Love is underrated and it sucks.”
“Clearly.” I muttered.
The silent pause was loud. And staring at each other didn’t ease a damn thing.
“Let’s just head back. I have nothing else to confess. Or do you?” I read her eyes. And I knew what I had said wasn’t the utter truth of my feelings. Now we were too caught up with emotions. Letting this anger talk for us.
“We both said enough.” I said softly. Letting my shoulders lower down.
She begin to walk pass me. And my instincts grab her arms. She turn to me. But didn’t look to me. “Enough said. Right?”
“Back we shall go then.” And I let her go. I let go. I found myself unable to apologize for my words.
The drive back was awful. Felt like I was kneel down over a pile of rocks. We both said nothing to each other. Leaning the farthest we can on our side of the car. I allow everything to sit in my head. Even with more to say. The beauty of our mate bond. I knew I couldn’t. My mind dread off to what could of been if we hadn’t meet. If our lives had went in as we wanted it too.But It was hard imagine.
I kept going back and forth from wanting a mate to not. To seeing what my path would of been in either state. Being so lost. As we enter the elevator. I couldn’t help myself from pulling Elizabeth close to us. I had my arm over her, holding her opposite arm. She didn’t pull nor say a word. I try sensing her. But I can only feel my own.
She pushes our arm away from her. Walking toward our room. I stop her from opening the door herself. My hand over hers as no spark hit. “I’ll open it.”
She muttered, “whatever.” As she yank her hand away and I open the door to allow her to enter first.
She goes straight to the bed. Just sitting on it. Keeping her head low. We walk pass her and headed to the closet to change. In the middle of my changing I hear the door being slammed shut. I look up at the lights. Holding my shirt to my chest.
“I don’t know if we can make it pass this.” I scoff.
I waited for Malcolm to say something. To say his words of wisdom. His annoying speech about mates and to never give up even if we utterly f**k up. But he didn’t. He just growls to me. And continue to sleep.
I walked out to find the scent of our mate fading away. “Elizabeth?” I called out softly.
I knew if I search the room she wouldn’t be here. I knew from our fight she went off to another male wolf. She hated us and the thought of being with us so bad. She had to leave to be with another man.
“Elizabeth.” I closed my eyes and fall into bed. Now imaging a world without her in it. And her scent fades as we lay. It was agony.
“Goddess? Elizabeth?”
