The Rogue Lands.

Dawn Daniels. The sound of the birds was different, and the movement of the breeze was different. Where was I? and that was how I woke up, slowly opening my eyes and getting accustomed to the light streaming into the room through sheer curtains covering a wide balcony. I did not have a balcony and this was not my bed. I thought as I bolted up to a sitting position on the bed. Then I froze when I saw the man from my dreams standing by the curtains, staring at me. Am I dreaming? I thought as I pinched myself. “Hey, hey please calm down. Your eyes are glowing.” “Glowing?” I asked, confused. I had so many questions. “Yes, it’s a rare occurrence; seeing a werewolf whose eyes glow, that is, but it has happened before or so I’ve heard.” “Who are you?” I said, shifting back a bit on the bed, looking at the man before me suspiciously. “I’m sorry I haven’t introduced myself, I got distracted by your eyes.” Then he paused and sat on the sofa in front of me. “I am Kieran Arnell, Alpha of the Rogue lands.” Kieran Arnell. Her eyes were blazing like green fire and I could tell she had been scared, but the moment she heard my mention of the Rogue lands she relaxed a bit. “I am in the Rogue lands?” she asked, looking away from me and taking in the room we were in. “Yes, you are. I saw you on the way and brought you here earlier this morning.” She sighed and looked back up at me, “My name is Dawn Daniels, I was banished from White Moon pack and Darius directed me here, to the rogue lands.” Playing with the amulet on her neck she looked away and then continued, “Darius had said you trust him and he trusts you but everything had happened so fast the banishment… I don’t know if he called to let you know…” “ He did. I had a feeling it was you, but I needed to be sure.” “What if I was lying?” “I am the Alpha of the Rogue Lands, nobody can lie to me without my knowledge.” Still looking at her, I noticed the green in her eyes was not looking as bright as earlier, it was beginning to dim. “Why were you banished?” “I was banished because I have never shifted into my wolf form and I could never be marked as a member of my former pack.” “Never?” I asked, then she nodded. “That’s sad,” I said, looking back at her, realizing she had no idea she had shifted the night before. The blood rage made more sense then, but it just meant there was more to uncover about the white-haired lady in front of me. My Luna. Then I asked her, “Can you remember anything that happened between last night and this morning?” “I can’t remember...” Then her eyes opened now, they looked glazed over like that of someone who was mind linking, and then it seemed like something clicked in her head. “I did have a dream, dear goddess, oh dear goddess, I saw my mom or someone who looks like her…” she looked up at me “…I saw you. Why were you in my dream?” “ It wasn’t a dream, Dawn.” “I can remember the pain and I remember you.” Then she smiled at me, so beautiful. “ Thank you, you eased my pain.” “I can’t believe I shifted.” She continued sounding excited now, as she ran her hands through her hair, then tugged at the shirt she had on. “I ripped my clothes, right?” “Yes, you did." then I quickly added, "But I was not the one who dressed you up, it was a lady, my housekeeper.” Then she laughed, covering her eyes with her right hand, and sniffed. That was when I realized she was crying. “Are you okay?” I asked, genuinely concerned. “Yeah, I am. I just…” she sniffed again, then laughed and cleaned her tears. “…I just can’t believe it, after everything I can actually shift. I was beginning to lose hope.” She looked up at me with her beautiful green eyes and continued. “I was born in White moon pack on the day of the murder of the then alpha and his twin brother, my dad. Born with white hair made it worse for me. The other werewolves believed I was a sign of an omen, but it wasn’t all bad because I had my mom and she was very firm and vocal. Nobody could ever stand up to her, so she protected me, but that came to an end when she died. It became confirmed by the alpha that I was definitely a bad omen when my mother died 8 years later and I still wasn’t showing any wolf abilities. I was alienated, removed from the living quarters and put to live in an abandoned cabin alone, and taunted by a lot of the other kids…” She stopped and was quiet for a few seconds. I did not want to put her through those days again, so I told her to stop but she shook her head, sniffed a bit, and continued saying “ The alpha's son, Dean, was the worst. He called me “Dark” because, according to him, I was the opposite of the light coming from my hair. He said I was a Dark omen and, since his father said so, it was true. Darius was the only one who had my back, took care of me, and also went forward to show me how to fight because I was exempted from all activities that involved the werewolves, who could shift and were not bad omens. My family is from a long line of warriors, so Darius said it was not going to stop in my time except I didn’t want to be a warrior and, of course, I wanted to. I trained a lot, but it was without the knowledge of the other members, it was lonely and I tolerated so much growing up in White moon pack because I was so hopeful that with time there was going to be a change, but nothing changed and I got banished on the morning I turned 18. And now this is where I am. I had prayed for change but what I had in mind was not what I got. I had wanted acceptance but instead, I got freedom.” “ Well, welcome to freedom. Welcome to the Rogue lands” I said as she finished her story. “You don’t have to be anything more than what you are, we are all rogues and misfits here.” My saying that made her smile shyly, she had gone through so much and I just wanted to protect her from any more harm. She was never going to be alone again as long as I was alive. “I wanted to say my story so you know my background. I don’t know what I can offer, but I know that I can be useful. I am obviously a new wolf, so there is so much I have to learn and all I need is a favorable environment and I promise you, you won’t regret taking me in.” “Ohh, I know I won’t regret it.” Standing up, I continued. “you need to eat and refresh yourself, then I’ll show you around, but yeah, rest a bit. Someone will be up here with lunch…” “Lunch?!” “Yeah, you slept for a long time, but it's normal because you just shifted. You have so much to learn, but no worries, it’s a step-by-step process and I’m here for you.” “thank you.” “I’ll see you in a few hours, Dawn.” “Okay, Alpha Kieran.” “Call me Kieran. See you soon.” Walking out, I felt something I had never felt, and whatever it was, I liked that feeling.
