The fight.

Kieran Arnell “That is what I said when Joe told me this morning.” Cursing loudly and getting up from the chair I was on in the study I started walking towards the door of the study. “That woman is trying to get on my nerves.” “Hey boss, I was not going to tell you because I was worried you would act rashly so please can you be calm so I tell you the reasons for my worry.” Hearing Hera’s statement made me halt in my tracks. I was about to act rashly and even though I was not sure of what step I was about to take, I knew that it was probably going to be something unreasonable so taking a deep breath I stood in a fixed position and listened, “Go on, I am listening,” “So, my fear is actually for Cara and the spectators not even Dawn.” “Why?” I said, wondering what would make Hera even think of Cara’s wellbeing, “Well not really worried for Cara, more worried for the spectators,” she answered quickly confirming her dislike for Cara, “Cara might have some ill intentions and I am sure she has a plan but she has no idea of the amount of power that Dawn has. Even though Dawn has been training well and she is quite adept in her skills there is still much more to her that we are yet to tap into so what if Cara does something and that switch in Dawn turns on?” Sighing she said, “I am worried about Dawn having a blood rage, people at the arena might be in danger.” That made sense, “You are her trainer, Hera. What do you think?” “I think we should keep our eyes on her but not stop her from being involved in the fight because the only way she can be removed is if you got involved and it would look very off if the Alpha got involved in a fight. Especially one the members of the pack have been looking forward to.” “That is true. Everyone has been eager to see what kind of werewolf Dawn is,” then chuckling I added, “I even saw some promotional messages and posts on social media. I understand I will take that into consideration but I will also have my eyes on Cara. If she does anything out of the rules, I will make sure she regrets it.” The thought of Cara trying to do anything to hurt Dawn made me boil inside, she was going to hate me if she tried any games. “I will also have my eyes on Cara, you know I always smell her bullshit from a mile away. So then see you at the fight?” “Yeah, I should freshen up and get ready. Have you spoken to Joe?” “Yeah, it was Joe who let me know about Cara enrolling in the fight. We actually spoke about letting you find out during the fight but I thought about it again and letting you know before was a better idea.” “Alright then, I should go now. See you in a bit.” Turning off the call, I took another deep breath and closed my eyes, and Dawn's smiling face was what I saw in my mind's eye. I was hooked and I was enjoying the feeling. Opening my eyes, I walked quickly out of the study toward my room. I had not gotten enough sleep but nobody would know because I was going to look good for Dawn. And my pack. But mostly Dawn, I thought smiling to myself. ****** Dawn Daniels As I got ready for the fight, I thought of what I had read in my mother’s journal. And I already had a few questions and even though I was trying to keep a clear head, my head was feeling very cloudy. So I just kept my mind on how far I had come from the moment I had first shifted to now, I had even gotten comfortable with the nudity that comes with being a werewolf. It felt refreshing. Closing my eyes and taking a very deep breath, I said a prayer to the goddess because she was the one who had brought me this far and after what I had read in the journal I felt more connected to her than ever. Opening my eyes, I breathed out a long breath and faced the invisible opponent in front of me and fought him or her. The other contestants were also there in the training room it was quite large and it was filled with different men and women, some who faced each other and practiced with each other and some who practiced alone just like me. I had read my mother’s journal till sometime around 3 am then sleep took over me, but I woke up to my alarm by 6 am and after getting ready in minutes I was out of the house, I hoped I did not May angry as I did not even stop to have breakfast. I did not have an appetite and I really did not want to force myself and ruin my stomach. I had been really silent with my movements, testing how quiet I could be if I wanted to creep up on any of my opponents. I got to the arena before 7 am and started training then till I noticed the other contestants coming in, a lot of them gave me curious stares but it did not make me budge. It was not the first time I was having to deal with stares, I was used to it. I was ready to test my skills on the field and it was a plus that the rest of the pack -most of them anyway- would be watching. I had chosen black for my outfit, black pants, and a tank top made from a lightweight fabric that would rip with ease when I shifted. I know I have gotten comfortable with the nudity that comes after that but I can’t say I was not nervous to shift in front of a crowd. “Alright everyone gather round in the general room and listen to me call out your names.” I heard someone say from the general room. I put the rest of my belonging into my locker then using my pin, I locked it and walked to the general room with the other werewolves who were present. The werewolf who I knew as Dane was the one calling out the names and as I listened to him call the names my attention was on my own name. “Cara Tinsel?” “Here,” she answered with a sultry voice. The moment I heard her voice I looked up, I could tell that voice anywhere. What was she doing fighting? I was not the only confused person because a few of the people started murmuring then like a siren, she walked slowly toward Dane and gave me a dirty look as she told him thank you in her usual sultry tone and collected the tag then she sat on one of the seats that were set aside for fighters. After getting seated, she then winked at me and smiled. I did not like the look she gave me so I looked away from her face giving Dane back my attention, listening to him call out some other names before he called mine. “Dawn Daniels?” “I’m here.” I walked to him and collected my tag then I sat on one of the seats furthest from her, I could feel her eyes on me but I did not pay her any mind. I guess she wanted to fight with me and from everything Hera had said and the few things I had heard about her, I knew she was vile and would do anything to make me lose. I had dealt with bullies when I was in White moon pack and I was not going to let another bully come in the way of my life again, taking a deep breath I closed my eyes and sat with my back straight I meditated just like Hera had thought me. No matter what happened I was not going to let anyone get in the way of my first real combat. I was ready for this fight.
