“When do we get to see the newest member of our pack?”

“Whenever she is ready to meet everyone else.”

“Everyone wants to see her, she is such a celebrity out there.”

“Who is everyone? You?” I said, ignoring Joe’s continuous disturbance as I went through the paperwork he had brought to my office.

I looked at the time on the clock, it was 5:10 pm. I needed to check on Dawn. After I took Dawn into the pack, I took her to my living quarters immediately. The only person who had seen her was May, the head housekeeper. I wanted some of the first people she meets to be Joe, my Beta, and Hera, my head warrior, but that has to be after she has gotten enough rest. She had been through a lot.

“Where’s Hera?”

“Probably somewhere beating the hell out of a training bag.”

I chuckled, as a head warrior, Hera is one of the strongest werewolves in the pack, she is quite tough and she was easily one of his favorite werewolves, not just because of her strength but because of her ability to strategize during combat, it is top-tier. He liked training with her best.

“I want you and Hera in my compound by 10 am tomorrow.” I mind linked to both Joe, who was with me, and Hera, who was not.

“Yes, Alpha.” She replied my mind link. “I really cannot wait to see the white-haired newcomer.”

“The white-haired newcomer? What kind of name is that?” I mused out loud after getting Hera’s mind linked.

“That’s what everyone is calling her.” Then Joe paused. “Most people, anyway.”

I chuckled again, “everyone is acting funny because we have a new pack member.”

“It has been a long time since that happened, you know, and it turns out to be a woman. Her hair was white, the alpha brought her in himself! Come on, you know that is going to get a lot of the werewolves excited.”

“I mean, I understand, but that is not an excuse to dole out lame names. Who gave her the name?” I said, looking up at Joe from the papers in front of me.

My sentence made him laugh out loud. He always gave names, so I was pretty sure this was his work.

“Come on, you know I give really nice names, Kieran.”

“Do you? This one doesn’t sound nice, Joe. I say again, that it is lame.”

“Of course, I give nicer names,” Joe said, “this was the work of one of the guards who saw you carrying Dawn when you came back to the pack that morning.”

I shrugged, “and you went along with it, so I am always going to assume it was you.”

“Whatever Kieran, when you hear a name I come up with, you will know,” Joe mused.

“She must be really special. There’s so much mystery surrounding her coming here. You know the last time the alpha came back to the pack with a banished werewolf, you were the werewolf. What are the odds?”

“Oh, she is special. Very special.” I said as I went through and signed the last of the papers he had brought to me. I wanted to tell him about the amount of raw power and the magnetic aura I could sense from her and the fact that she was my mate, but I held back on that tonight. Knowing how intuitive Joe is, I am sure it is something I would have to tell him eventually.

“Okay, then,” Joe said, picking up the papers as he got up from the chair and put them in a file,

“I will see you tomorrow morning.”

And then he walked out of my office, closing the door behind him. Yawning a bit, I stretched in my chair and looked at my watch. It was 5: 53 pm. Leaning back in the chair, I closed my eyes to doze for a few minutes and I made a mental note to be awake by 6:30 pm so I could go to check on Dawn. Slowly I drifted. She was in my dream.

I was standing in a field. It looked just like the one I had found Dawn in. But I couldn’t see clearly, it seemed like I needed glasses. I have no idea how I got here or where I am.

“Hello, Kieran.” Someone said from behind him. Turning around, I saw a lady who looked like Dawn walking past me. Her hair was platinum white just like Dawn's hair, but it was short, while Dawn's hair was straight. She stood about 5 feet away from me, then she turned to look at me and at that moment my sight became clear, I caught my breath, it was Dawn!

“Hello, Dawn,” I replied, her voice was drawing me in.

She is smiling, she looks really beautiful and then she extends her arm to me, I looked at her from head to toe one more time, she was in a dress, it is long and wispy, makes her look like a fairy. I looked back up at her face, smiled, and took her arm.

And I woke up to the sound of a bird’s wings flapping. Immediately, I turned to the clock and checked the time. It was 6:29 pm. That dream felt very real. I wonder what that is, a message?

Right on time, I thought as I smiled, stretching a bit while still settled in the chair. It was time to go back to the quarters. The housekeeper, May, serves dinner by 5:50 pm, so Dawn must have been done eating or about to be done now. She probably had questions about her shift too, and I had to talk to her about a couple of things, I generally want to see how she was doing. I clear my table and wear my jacket before getting up, leaving the office, and locking the door behind me.

Almost immediately I started reading my mother's journal, I heard the sound of approaching footsteps and I knew it was probably the alpha. The housekeeper, May, had come earlier to take the food tray and replace it with another one. I had loved the meal she had given me earlier, so I complimented it and thanked her. She had asked her a few questions and from the answers she got, she could tell that they really respected their Alpha. We ended up having dinner together and we spoke throughout the meal, so I didn’t even get to read past the first page of my mum's journal, but I made a mental note to start reading it from tomorrow.

From most of the things May told me about the Rogue lands, I can tell that it is a pack for all, but I was the first werewolf to come here in a long time, it's been years now. There is just so much to know and learn and I am excited about it!

The knock on the door had been expected, “Coming,” I said as I jumped from the bed, walked to the door, and opened it. He was standing there and then he smiled, making my stomach do a thing. I was suddenly shy. He always made me shy, I thought.

“Good evening Alpha Kieran,” I said as I ushered him in.

“Hello, Dawn.” He said as he walked in.

He walked straight to the balcony, “How are you doing this evening?”

“I’m doing fine. Thank you so much for your hospitality.”

“Please you really don’t need to thank me, okay?”

“You welcome me into your home, feed me and make me feel the most comfortable I have been in years and you say I shouldn’t thank you? I will always be grateful.”

I think I might have made him shy because he smiled and looked down a bit before looking back up and saying, “ You are welcome.”

“May brought dinner earlier and we had dinner together. If I had known you were coming this soon, we would have kept something for you.”

“Wait, what?” he said, and he walked back into the room and sat on the reading table. He had a look of surprise on his face, “ Did you say you had dinner with May, in here?”

“Yes, I did.”

He laughed, “that has never happened in all the years May has been my housekeeper. May would never let you eat in the room, much less eat it with you.”

“really? She was very nice and didn’t seem strict at all.” I said, laughing a bit.

“She is the strictest. I think she just likes you.”

“ Well, that’s great because I like her too!”

He laughed again, “Of course you do.” Putting his hand in his black combat pants, he walked back to the balcony. I followed him this time. I wanted to go out of the room and I also had some questions that needed answers.

“I would like to go out and see the Rogue lands tonight,” then I paused before continuing, “I want to shift tonight, please can you show me how to?”

“Of course, I will, Dawn. That is what I came here to do. But first, I have to talk to you about a few very important things.”

“I understand that.”

He walked to the door and opened it for me, then he used his head to nudge towards the door.

“Are you ready?” he asked with a smile that seemed to draw me in.

“Yes.”
