A warm welcome.

Dawn Daniels “Have you ever been on a bike?” Alpha Kieran asked me as we walked out of the building. “No, I haven’t. But I would love to be on one.” I said as I followed alpha Kieran as he walked towards the dirt bike parked in the garage. “Well, today is your lucky day.” “It is?” I said. “Yes, it is Dawn because you get to be on one and you also get to ride with me.” Alpha Kieran said as he gave me a helmet to put on. I tried to wear it on but my hair kept getting in the way so I packed my hair in a low loose bun then I wore the helmet on, my choice of clothing worked well for our bike ride. Alpha Kieran got on the bike and then motioned for me to get on too. With help from him, I got on the bike and held on to his waist. “Ready?” “Yes, alpha.” Then Kieran sighed a bit, took off his helmet then turned to look at me with his intense blue eyes, and said, “Yes, Kieran. Call me Kieran.” I blushed, I knew he was referring to the fact that I called him alpha even after he had said I should call him Kieran. “Yes, I am, Kieran.” “Good.” He said as he turned back and wore his helmet back on. “Let’s go!” My hold on his waist tightened when the bike first moved then slowly as we rode through the empty road I began to ease my hold on his waist. I was enjoying my first bike ride and I knew at that moment that I wanted to ride a bike. This part of the rogue lands was filled with aesthetically pleasing building structures, the road we took was mostly empty. We passed only two other vehicles the whole way, it seemed like this is a restricted area. I wonder if they knew the person riding the bike was their alpha. As we kept riding I noticed the air was beginning to feel warm and moist, then I look ahead and see a wide opening, the closer we get, the more I realize we are going to the beach. I catch my breath for a second at the beautiful reflection of the moon and stars over the water. Kieran stopped the bike at the designated spot for parking and I got -almost fell- off it making us laugh a bit before he got off the bike. Taking off the helmet, I gave it to Kieran and then stood in awe of the movement of the water before me while he hooked the helmets to the bike. “It’s so beautiful,” I said in a very quiet voice, I didn’t want to make noise because the sound of the water felt like music. Beautiful music and I wanted to just keep hearing it. “It is, and very peaceful too, I come here when I want to ease my mind and it always works,” Kieran said as he came and stood beside me. “I came here with you because I want you to understand a few things. First of all, I am here as your friend and your teacher. After finding you in that field I feel very responsible for you, I would teach you everything you need to know about shifting and your wolf.” Then he paused. “secondly, as an alpha, it’s rare for me to train a wolf but you are very inexperienced and you have a crazy amount of strength that I have never seen before so it might be dangerous until we can control it. It’s not something you should be afraid of, it’s something you need to mentally prepare yourself for.“ I was just looking at him talk, I could hear the words he was saying but I wasn’t particularly listening to him all I was hearing was him saying “ you are very inexperienced and you have a strength that I have never seen before so it might be dangerous until we can control it “. I didn’t know what particular emotions to express, I had been without my wolf until I turned 18 just a few days ago and now they say I’m too strong. My cup definitely runneth over, I thought laughing at my joke in my head. “Can I tell you a secret?” Kieran said disrupting my thoughts as he walked on the beach sand and lay down facing the night sky with his arms wide. “Yes,” Then I added, “I won’t tell anyone.” “Of course, you won’t.” He said laughing.“ this feels like deja vu, just that this time I switched positions.” “How?” I asked still standing up, watching the water move. “Just before my father died we had come here and he had spoken about wanting me to become the alpha. I remember telling him it was too much of a responsibility, but in truth, I was really just scared of taking on that much responsibility even though I knew I could definitely handle it, I had started training at a very early age for this reason. We never spoke about it again, then some days after he died.” “Sorry for your loss.” That was sad. He looked back at me and smiled “thank you” “He was a great man, my role model. I always wondered if he knew he was about to die. I was scared of taking the role but look at me now, it’s been how many years? Almost 10 years and the Rogue lands keep getting better under my leadership. So it’s just like my father spoke to me right here, there is me talking to you about your power and then there is you, probably feeling some form of fear now.” After he said that, we both stayed quiet, I was thinking of how I keep moving from one issue to another. Walking close to him, I dropped down to my knees and joined him to look at the beach in silence. “I can handle all of this, right?” I asked no one in particular after the long silence. “I know, you can handle it. We are never given what we cannot handle, that’s one thing I know for sure.” We stayed that way for a little longer, just staring at the waves as the sky got darker. It was liberating and mind-easing, “I’m ready now, I want to shift. Tell me how.” Kieran turned to me at that moment, his eyes looked so bright in the dark, and then getting up from his seating position, he said, “No, not tell you, I will show you.”
