Siin had worked his way to the Seventh floor of the building when he realized the wind was only gotten stronger by the minutes. Giant flashes of lightening were generously lashed amidst the dark clouds, by mother nature indicating the presence of a raging windstorm. Soon, the town of Salda Kalif was immediately enclaved by a dark ambience as the waves of the morning sun had been opaqued by thick dark clouds which hung above the city. The winds current grew stronger and it cruised with arrogance and an incessant whistling sound that was uneven in intonation. This brought fear to the mind of all men without the exception of Siin. He could hardly maintain his balance as he constantly held on to the handle of the windows to avoid getting blown off balance by the winds. When he realised that things could get really messy if he didn't get to a safe place early, he concluded to call it a day and count his losses. This made him very sad as he had no other option than to abandon his progress for the day . He knew too well that a windstorm was upon him and at such altitude, lots of bad possibilities could occur.
Slowly, He began to recede his step backwards to get a better balance on the portion of the window base which his feets rested on . At that moment, the wind became so strong that it blew off every drop of moisture from the surface of his eyeballs. Had his scalp not been firm enough, his soft afro would have been blown off , strand after strands as they levitated towards the direction of the powerful wind . The lightning , the wind current , the scary whistling that accompanied the wind plus the ambience of darkness that seized the whole town , was unlike what Siin had ever experienced on the job before. The combination of all those elements at a singular moment, brought a sense of unease to his mind .
In process of tossing from one foot to another to get a better grip of the window he held onto , his gaze caught the glimpse of something familiar and within the split of a second , he felt an oblivious joy in his heart .
"Kaltumi " he whispered as his eyes widened in excitement. He could clearly see the luminous apparition of Kaltumi at the exact position she had always stood to wave at him. Siin was still in a state of euphoria, not minding the fact that he was face to face with a ghost . Indeed his love for her had overpowered the fear of any harm she could bring to him.
" Kaltumi ! Come to me ! ... Please" Sin had loudly called out , so his voice could offset the noisy winds and perhaps scale through to the hearing of kaltumi . He could see Kaltumi slowly turning away without waving at him or smiling. Siin was not ready to part ways with the beholder of his joy. He wasn't thinking straight and it was obvious that he had been hypnotized by the the gracious presence of Kaltumis elegance. At that point all he could think of was to follow Kaltumi to what ever Paradise or hell she was heading to . Heavy droplets of rain had began to drop and the wind grew from strong to furious. It blew Siin almost away from the Ledge he had been holding onto for support. Luckily for him somewhere in his oblivious pariah ,he still managed to hold on to safety. The sight of Kaltumi, who was slowly walking away , as her apparition gradually faded into the thin air . This made Siin delusional. He tried to make a dive towards the Crystal building as he cried out to Kaltumi.
" Don't leave me ! " he let out an emotional scream and tried to move he his footing on the slippery surface. At that point , a compromise of balance occurred and it was all the furious wind needed to blow him off the building tossing him against the next sky scrapper before sending him towards the abyss of the ground. Siins fall was short and fatal. The safety strap had only served as a shock absorber as the strength of the wind had altered the well being of the device. Siin had crashed onto the top of a cooling van, that was packed by the side of the road. He lay motionless unless unless for his b****y lips that kept on muttering the words " Don't leave me. " in an in inaudibleibl tone that lacked any ounce of energy. Amidst the storm. An alarm was raised by commuters that had witnessed his fall.
Soon his colleagues , the Sheikh and the paramedics arrived the scene , applied first aid to his injuries and headed him straight to the hospital. His colleagues bore a sad face in anticipation of the worse . For all they knew, no one had ever survived a fall from such high dimension and Siin wasn't breathing.
[ Moments later]
The absence of human activities had created a haven for black crows and wild ravens which where the only birds that basked heartily across the skies of Sharja. The era of the vultures which was marked with litters of human carcass in every nook and cranny of the state, had come and gone . Meanwhile it was well known by all , that Vultures feasted on the carcass of of dead humans when they found one, many Arab locals also believed that black Crows and ravens feasted on the souls of lost humans who had lost their lives and were damned to hell. Thus their presence around cemeteries and gothic places was never a surprise to the locals . Most of the buildings had been leveled to the ground by the effects of high cadre bombs and explosives. Only a few building still stood tall_ yet very rickety. Among the last standing building was a hospital whose staff had been overwhelmed by the amount of injured and sick people that were brought into edifice. The doctors and nurses could no longer effectively cater for all the wounded casualties that trooped in their scores on a hourly basis thus casualties had grew from bad to worse, the mortuary became filled and corpse of dead patients had to be evacuated on daily basis to be given mass burials, still with all the efforts of the Doctors, the nurses and the paramedics, the hospital was no Longer meeting it's sole aim of safeguarding lives as the amount of sick people whose conditions became worse and the number of unattended corpses whose decay was eminent , escalated to high number, thereby making the hospital a ground for contagion. The health workers began to fall sick them selves and then one night they had all fled under the cover of darkness to unknown destination. The absence of health care was the last straw that broke the camels bone for the town of Sharja as the Exodus for safety became widely advocated and soon everyone evaded the town and those too weak and those who had been abandoned were left to nourish the vultures and rodents.
In one of the wards of the abandoned hospital. A young man in blue maternity gown, who had just regained consciousness lay still on the bed.
