Chapter 38- Night Attack

Jenna prepared her chains as she waited for the monster. Then the demons came crashing through the window of the house—the monster screeches an ear-piercing scream. Forcing Jenna to cover her ears, however, it was not the only one who heard the screech. Both Marcus and Blitz heard the scream. The ear-piercing scream shatters the glass windows of the house. And it woke up both Clint and Lorenzo. After the beast stops its ear-piercing scream, Jenna gazes at it once again. It's human saggy-like skin, bat-like face, and bat-like wings are sticking out of its back. “You are one ugly motherfucker.” Jenna spoke before slashing her chains towards the creature. However, the creature saw the attack. It evades Jenna's chains as it lunges itself up. Jenna immediately aimed her palm at the beast, which created a magic circle above the beast. Where chains came rushing towards it, but the beast quickly dodges by a jump back to the window he smashed to enter. “Tsk! It looks like you are planning to bring the fight outside.” Jenna spoke as she gazes at the eyes of the beast. “Jenna! Where's the enemy!?" Marcus screamed as he came rushing up the stairs; Blitz, on the other hand, followed him. The monster, hearing Marcus, gritted its teeth and flew away. It's almost like the beast did not expect that there were other hunters. Jenna hides her chains and looks at the two boys going towards her. “You two are already late. The beast had left moments ago.” “Can you tell us what it looks like or what kind of monster it is?" Blitz spoke as he stares at the broken window. Jenna crossed her arms and replied, “He's an ugly bastard.” “But senior, all monsters are ugly. Please be more specific of its traits." Marcus spoke after hearing Jenna. “I don't know what monster it is. But I assume it's near but not wholly a gargoyle. Since I have fought a gargoyle before, it is entirely different from the gargoyle I fought. I'll give you the physical description." “It has a saggy skin like an old person's skin. Its head is the same size as a human. But with the face of a bat, with a flat nose similar to a pig. It has wings similar to a bat sticking out on its back.” Marcus grabbed his chin and said, “the way you describe it. I can only think of a gargoyle. It's a monster that I always see in games and movies.” “But it isn't the way it fights was not the same—however, one clue about the monster is the scream. It's high pitch ear-piercing scream. Why don't you search about monsters that have such traits, Marcus?” But as the three were talking, the two-door behind them opened. The injured comrades yawned and asked in unison. “What has happened? We heard a scream that woke us up. Is there a fight that occurred here?” The three hunters only let out a sigh as they gaze at their comrades. Who has zero ideas on what had just transpired? Their faces filled with confusion, and rubbing their ears as they could not somewhat hear. But as the hunters drop their guards. *Craaaash!* Multiple monsters burst in the windows. It was the same type of beast that broke in before. There were six of them outnumbering the five hunters. Who instantly pulled out their weapons. “Hey! It looks like it called for reinforcement." Lorenzo exclaimed. The beasts instantly flew towards the hunters. Using the sharp claw in their hands, they s***h it toward the hunters. Only to be blocked with their weapons. The monsters flew inside the house, backing away from the hunters. Then once again, the flying creatures launched another offensive attack. Two monsters attacked Marcus. Using his sword, he fends off the monsters. But he was unable to hit anything. “Damn! They're quite agile." Marcus said as he chased after them. That's when Marcus used his cursed ability and slowed time. In his front was a monster attacking straightforward. But thanks to his ability. The beast slowed down, and he slashes it with the sword he held. Quickly killing one, but as he gazes on his side, he saw that another monster was trap in his skill. With a swift swing, Marcus chops the head of the monster. After killing two, Marcus deactivates his ability, which he can still use two more minutes. Marcus thanks mister sword for his assistance. But his gratitude was replied with a, ”Hmph!" Like Mister Sword has a grudge towards Marcus, of course, his wielder knows the reason. But he couldn't do anything other than letting out a sigh and hope for things to fix themselves. Clint, even heavily injured, fought quite well against the monsters. He kicked one beast and managed to pin him to a wall. Without holding back, Clint launches multiple kicks towards the beast. He was not allowing it to escape. He continues kicking until the wall where Clint pinned down the monster became destroyed. The monster fell after having multiple internal injuries. Thanks to the kicks Clint dealt with him. Clint could see the monster's ribcage destroyed as it vomits blood and lay unconscious on the floor. Blitz was swinging his halberd on the first floor against a flying monster. The two exchange blows. And to Blitz's annoyance, the beast was able to keep up with his attack. The beast's high-speed slashes counter his swings. Even with how much speed he adds, the beast could catch up to his attack speed. Like they were equals. Blitz become more annoyed as he saw Marcus defeats two all on his own. It was an insult to him that Marcus beat two, and he can't even defeat a single one. Then with Blitz's rage, lighting running through his veins started appearing. Doubling his speed and each strike are always accompanied by booming thunderous noise. The monster he was fighting was overwhelmed by the sudden power-up of Blitz. The beast was unable to keep up with Blitz's strikes. In one decisive swing, Blitz did not hold back and swing his halberd with might. The creatures try to evade, only to fail horribly. “Die!" Yelled Blitz as his halberd connects to the flying monster's body, separating its body in two with ease. Which later drops on the floor, spilling its blood. Blitz gasp for air after witnessing his victory. Standing on the corpse of his enemy, he went as far as to disrespect the monster by stepping on its head like a pedestal. Lorenzo has taken his fight outside in the backyard. He clashed with the same monsters that his allies were fighting. He was using his Kris skillfully as he was able to injure the enemy. Unlike Blitz and Marcus, who took a while to defeat their enemies. Lorenzo was making more progress, as he has done more damage in a short amount of time. His opponent has even its wings cut. The beast only looked at Lorenzo with despise as its exhausted state gasping for air. “Seriously, one of these guys defeated Clint. Was that some joke, or were they just lucky? However, I may have many questions, but I need this quickly. I am injured and cannot prolong a fight anymore.” Lorenzo, with a split second, disappeared from the monster's sight. The beast started to look side to side, searching for Lorenzo. But he immediately turns behind him after realizing that Lorenzo was about to strike him. However, it was too late as the monster felt a burning blade entered his nape. When he gazes down his eyes, there he saw the tip of the dagger that Lorenzo wields has pierced through; it was the last sight the monster sees before he shuts his eyes for eternity. “That was relatively easy; I thought they would put more of a better show. However, I do feel more substantial somehow. It was like my synchronization with my kris has become more omnipotent. It's like we're one as I swing her fighting the monster like an extension of my arm." Lorenzo looks up in the sky as he raises his dagger. “Could it be the effect of my training in the room? If it is then, Blitz and Marcus should retake that training. Who knew getting to know your weapon better. Sharing your troubles past and worries would increase your power.” “I better go back inside and check on my comrades.” When Lorenzo reaches the door, a carcass of a dead monster bonded in chains fell from above. Nearly missing him, he turns pale from the shock of the beast that fell. He looks above with a vein appearing on his forehead. There he saw Jenna chuckling to herself. “You did that on purpose, didn't you!?” Lorenzo yelled at Jenna. Jenna ignored Lorenzo and went back inside the house through the broken window. Lorenzo walked inside the house, stomping his foot. But when he walks inside the house, he saw the others already gathered. Lorenzo walks towards them and asks, “so what are we going to do now?" The four gaze unto him, and Clint had a severe expression face and spoke, “These monsters aren't the ones who attacked me.” Then out of nowhere, a mighty ear-piercing screech echoed throughout the entire neighborhood erupted—destroying the glass of the houses waking the people. Then the hunters felt a powerful evil presence. Clint clenches his fist into a ball and looks outside the window. “Looks like the monster that attacked me was observing us. And he has decided to reveal himself.”
