While they talked, Charles Chan, the minister, arrived and joined everyone outside. He was a short man, around thirty years old, with black hair and dark eyes. He greeted Lu, whom he knew from the West Hollywood clubs, and then he talked with Travis and Geoff. They rehearsed twice, once with the minister and the best men, and the next time for the film crew, who had arrived once again and wanted to chart the best camera angles to shoot the wedding. Lu was in the house, and everyone else was gone, leaving Travis and Geoff alone outside. Geoff sat down on the green, felt-covered platform on which they would stand with the minister and take their vows.
