Mael can't place his hand on the reason why he is angry or the fact that he nearly turned in front of all the students. Something is going on with him and he needs to figure it out as soon as possible to avoid the outcome being disastrous. If Professor Edward hadn't dismissed the class before time, he would have made a mess in front of the entire first year. Sure! Way to go Mael! Always bringing negative attention to himself. Although it is an academy for the supernatural, no one has turned unless under strict supervision and very necessary occasions. To top it all, they do not turn within close range of wherever commoners are. Especially the first year commoners because, they still needed time to adjust and get used to fangs, glowing eyes, claws, ice on the hand, burning people and the rest. Turning all of a sudden will scare them and that would once more give him the 'Freak' title. Professor Edward had been quick to notice that Mael was struggling with something. He couldn't risk news getting out that he hadn't handled the situation effectively, especially when it had to do with Mael. "Omiri, is everything alright?" He asks Mael as soon as the last student left the class through Hunters. "I am just so tired. I can't remember what happened and this stupid birthmark burns," he snares. "I need you to breathe, Omiri. Breath!" "Of what use is breathing? I am so hungry! So tasty!" His eyes dime and all his focus are now on Professor Edward's neck. Observing and studying his nape, the way beautiful veins that breathe life crosses it. Mael is snarling and advancing towards Professor Edward. "I just want a bite. A taste. One bite and that is it. The pumping and fast heartbeat are beautiful. I want to suck on it." "Enough, Omiri! We do not feed on the innocent. Get ahold of yourself. You are more than this. Do not succumb to this mind game." "Ah!" He clasps his hand on his forehead, "what is wrong, Professor? You look so scared. Did I miss something?" "Not at all. Get to your next class." Walking to Hunters, "Mr. Hercules?" "Yes, professor." "Fight it." He said simply. Mael has a confused look on his face but doesn't ask any further questions. He simply nods at what the professor has said and hurriedly left through Hunters, finding his way back to awaiting Duke, Melody and Harry. His thoughts are still focused on trying to remember what had happened. When Mael got to Duke, Melody and Harry, they couldn't believe that they were still there. With what the three except for Duke had done, it was supposed to get them expelled but no one mentioned it. In fact, it is as if they hadn't broken a major rule. They had filled Duke in on what happens and surely, he is furious. "How could you guys be so foolish to do a thing like that!" Duke barks. "We know it was foolish but look at the bright side, we survived." Melody whispers. Duke bust into a thousand pieces. "Oh, because you got lucky doesn't mean there are no consequences. What they say, we must obey. Obeying them is staying alive. Because they know what is best for us. You three taking matters into your hands was so unwise and too careless." "We admit to being wrong. Don't be so mad." Harry gives him the cute puppy eyes just to calm him down. What Duke is saying is absolutely right, but they know for sure that whatever is happening is only a sign that something bigger is coming and it is affecting them all. One way or the other. Still talking about their next class, class, everything pauses. Things stop moving, everyone is standing still and has absolute quietness. A freeze in time. “Antigon!” He jumps as a tiny fairy appears before him, brow furrowed and hands on his hips as he examines him closely. Mael is still searching for who had just called his name out loud and wondering why no one else except for him is moving around. "I am up here. A little bit tiny than usual. It might be difficult for you to spot me considering how you are looking around, that would take ages.“ A familiar voice speaks. "Humosh?” He says in alter most confusion. "Yes, that is me." Recovering from the shock he had sustained, "you almost gave me a heart attack." "That was the idea," Humosh replies, smiling. There is no trace of humour on Mael. "What-how-why?" He sputters, whatever he had in mind to ask barely making sense. "I do not understand a word you are trying to say. But, I can answer one question that you are dying to ask. How is it possible that I am here?" Floating around him, "well it is possible because I am your spirit guide. Like I told you whenever you need me, I am summoned. It would only make sense for me to take the form of something friendly and less scary so, I choose to take the form of a fairy. It has the easier connection between the spirit realm and any other realm." "You said need you. But I don't need you." "Even though you have just broken my heart by saying it that way, I will forgive you and not pick an offence. Do you think I am jobless? Or, that I am missing you? I would love to still be on my vacation but your troubled spirit dragged me here." Humosh looks way different from what he looks like in dreams. Very small and innocent, compared to the energetic, strong and muscled man that appears in Mael's dream. "Are you even paying attention to what I am saying?" Snapping his fingers at Mael who dazed off. "I get that reaction all the time in person since that isn't what they are expecting. You know, someone this handsome and cute. Flawless and intriguing." "No. No. That is not what I've in mind. You are quite small. Looking helpless and defenceless." "I'll pretend like I didn't just hear that." "Why is everyone frozen?" "Because I can cause a loop in time. Yeah, tell that to a defenceless and small creature." "Why are you even here?" "Really? Back to that again? Your soul is dark and it drew me here." "What?" Mael gasps, "dark soul. What does that even mean?" "Boy, don't you pay attention in school? It means that evil and good are battling within you and the evil side is winning." Humosh waves his hands across Mael, flapping rapidly. "Why are you even dressed in that?" Mael says with disgust. Humosh is wearing trousers and a robe made out of leaf with a crown on his head. "Because that is what I am meant to wear while here. If you don't like it, maybe you can give me a wardrobe makeover. "Haha, very funny. We can do that for you." "Let's stop joking around, Omiri. There is no time and you too have felt it." "Yes, true. What can we do about my dark soul which is freaking me out? How can my souk be dark? I mean, I've tried to be a good boy within my ability except for few mistakes but that is it. Is this a way that the universe has chosen to punish me?" "Calm down, Omiri. Stop being a drama queen." “What?” Mael blinks at him, trying not to scream. Did he just tell him to remain calm? Uh, that is definitely not helpful at all. With everything that is happening to Mael, he has the right to bring down the school's roof if he so wishes to. To worsen the situation, he gets information in bits and never the whole information. How is that going to help him? His tiny figure hovers around Mael, "listen, Omiri, you are dealing with a lot of pressure and it is dragging you down. Your focus is gone. You are like an uncollected wind, everywhere at once. You need to channel all your energy and control to something productive." "Why is my birthmark burning severely?" "It is a warning." "Warning about?" "I can't tell you that." "Of course, you can't. It seems nobody tells me anything around here. I've 24 hours if my life wiped. I can't remember a thing about it." "What are you talking about?" Looking at him like he just joking, "tell me you are making fun of me." He meets absolute silence and no reaction from Humosh, telling him that he is dead serious. "What kind of spirit guide are you? It is so funny because you were the one person I wanted to consult to find out what happened. Since you are my spirit guide, you are supposed to know everything and anything concerning me." "This whole thing is a video game. It doesn't work that way. I have boundaries and limits. And even if I had that access to know everything about you, it would be only when you invite me in. Once you block me out then it is of no use... But, the part about you forgetting, is dangerous." "Tell that to someone that doesn't already know." “Don’t let them win,” Humosh says fiercely. “If you let them get inside your head, you’ll have lost the battle before it even begins. You can do this, Omiri. You would never have been blessed with your abilities if you did not have the skill, courage, and power to handle them. Try to remember.” Mael wants so desperately to believe him, but he hadn’t been there. He didn't see the way he felt helpless and the pain of his birthmark that keeps burning. He doesn't know that it isn't easy for Mael. He has tried so much to remember. But, the more he tries to remember, the more he forgets. He seems to be living in a different place and time. It is getting unbearable for him. Everyone expects so much from him but he can't even do the least thing as remembering. Instead, he is battling with his vampire side which for one, almost came out in front of everyone in school and two, almost shredded his teacher. If he is such a joke which has had no relevance until now, what could possibly change that? The only logical explanation for him is that he is in a coma and all this is his unconscious mind trying to prove itself. Like everyone at the foster care made it a point, he is CURSED. There is no way he is THE LAST OF FIVE KINGDOMS. Kingdoms with such powerful histories? What a joke! Hence the nightmares continue. "I have a lot to deal with and yet, I've no idea of how to go about it,” he murmurs, realizing that a large part of what was pressing on him was that. “I should never have accepted this idea of coming here. I think I am dreaming. How in the world, is this a reality? I might have risked everything chasing what is inconsequential. I've been fighting all my life and now, it is like I just gave in without putting up my armour or even trying to. I should have pushed myself rather than just be living what is impossible." He is shouting on top of his lungs but Humosh doesn't flinch. Instead, he yawns and gives Mael a boring look, impatiently waiting for him to finish. Then, there is a change in his mood. A different kind of expression on his face, more like an amusement. "Ouch! What was that for?" Mael exclaimed as Humosh pinches him hard? "Was it painful?" "Of course." "That is to show you that none of this is a dream. It is very much reality that you are living and not some kind of adventure. The earlier you face it, the better for all of us." "What am I supposed to do?" "Only you can answer that. Don't push yourself too hard. When the time is right, everything will reveal itself." Humosh starts fading into dust. "What is happening?" "My time is up." Fading farther and farther," remember, only you hold the key." His voice fades out completely. "What were we saying?" Duke's booming voice comes to life. Mael looking around, everything is back to normal and there is no trace that Humosh was there for even a split of seconds. Mael had a lot of trouble keeping his mind on his lessons that day. It kept wondering back to his encounter with Humosh and the discussion they had. He bolted his dinner that evening without noticing what he was eating, and then rushed back to the dormitory upstairs in trying desperately to be alone as his head was filled with thoughts that he couldn't handle. He wanted answers to the numerous questions he had no one to ask.
