Edward and Lynne together

1544 Words
Immediately Emmy cleared the table after breakfast, Lynne moved to her room. While Emmy was doing the dishes, she was wondering what she could do to cheer her friend up. Then, she heard a knock at the door. Emmy rushed to the door, still fuming from her earlier encounter with Alex. She grabbed a bucket of water, hoping to give him a good soaking. When she opened the door, she tossed the water without hesitation, expecting to drench Alex. However, to her surprise, the person on the other side of the door was Edward, not Alex. The water cascaded down on him, soaking his clothes and the bouquet of flowers he was holding. Emmy's eyes widened in horror as she realized her mistake. "Ooh my God, so sorry!" Emmy exclaimed, her face turning bright red with embarrassment. Edward, on the other hand, was caught off guard and looked furious. Water dripped from his hair, and his clothes clung to his body, making him look like a drowned rat. "What is wrong with you?" Edward thundered, his voice echoing through the hallway. Emmy still apologizing profusely. Edward, shaking his head and chuckling, accepted her apologies. "It's okay, accidents happen. But maybe next time, check who's at the door before dousing them with water?" he said with a grin. Emmy smiled, relieved that Edward wasn't too upset. Edward smiled wryly, still shaking his head. "Well, I was told this is where a certain Ms. Lynne lives. I guess I got the wrong door. By the way am Edward McDonald." Emmy's eyes widened in surprise, and she looked at Edward with newfound interest. "Well this is actually Lynne place am her friend Emmy she's inside. I just spent the night at her place she wasn't feeling." "Come on in," Emmy said, stepping aside to let Edward enter. "Let me find you a change of clothes. You can't stay like that." Edward nodded gratefully, following Emmy into the house. As they walked, Emmy called out, "Lynne, you might want to come see who's here." Lynne emerged from her room, still feeling down, her eyes widened in surprise when she saw Edward standing in her living room, with a bouquet of roses and dripping wet. "Edward, what are you doing here and why are you wet?" Lynne asked, trying to hide a smile. Edward chuckled, shaking his head. "These flowers are from you Lynne. Wanted to apologise for yesterday." he said with a smile. Lynne took the flowers which were still dripping wet. "Thank you. You didn't have to do all of this. But why are you wet? " She asked. "Uuuum.." Edward pondering over what to say. " I mistakenly poured water on him I thought it was Alex again at the door" Emmy said while handing Edward a towel. "It's not a big deal. Lynne you look so down, are you alright?" He asked, while trying to dry his hair. As soon as the words left his lips, "Are you alright?" something in the gentle tone of his voice cracked open the dam of emotions that had been building up inside her. The stress, the anxiety, the overwhelming feelings of last night came flooding out, and before she knew it, she was sobbing uncontrollably. The sound of her own despairing wails was like a punch to the gut, and she felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her, but she couldn't seem to catch her breath or stem the tide of tears. Emmy rushed to her side, and wrapped a comforting arm around her shoulders. "Hey, it's okay, girl, you're safe now," she whispered, trying to calm her down. But even Emmy's soothing words couldn't penetrate the fog of despair that had descended upon her. Meanwhile, Edward looked on, taken aback by her sudden breakdown. He hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward, his movements slow and deliberate. He sat down beside her, his eyes filled with a deep concern, and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. The weight of his hand was a reassuring presence, and for a moment, she felt like she was anchored to something solid. "I'm here for you," he said softly, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate through her entire body. "You're not alone." The words were a balm to her frazzled nerves, and she felt a tiny spark of hope ignite within her. Maybe, just maybe, she wasn't alone in this after all. As Lynne wiped away her tears, she couldn't help but notice Edward's physical state. He was shivering, and his skin was covered in goosebumps from the cold water. Feeling a surge of concern, Lynne stood up and gestured for Edward to follow her. "Come on, you're freezing," she said, leading him to her room. "Let me find you something to change into." Lynne rummaged through her closet and pulled out a pair of extra-large pants and a matching top. "These should fit you," she said, handing them to Edward. "You can change in here, and I'll go make us some hot tea to warm you up." Edward nodded gratefully and took the clothes from Lynne. As he changed, Lynne couldn't help but sneak a peek at his physique. She noticed the way his muscles rippled beneath his skin as he moved, and the way his broad shoulders filled out the shirt. Lynne felt a flutter in her chest, and quickly looked away, trying to compose herself. But she couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards Edward. There was something about his kind and gentle nature, combined with his rugged good looks, that drew her in. Lynne took a deep breath and tried to shake off the feeling, focusing instead on getting Edward warmed up and comfortable. As Emmy and Lynne chatted while making tea for Edward, their conversation turned to the topic of the handsome stranger who had just arrived at their doorstep. Emmy, still swooning over her crush Alex, couldn't help but compare Edward to her beau. "Edward's really handsome, don't you think?" Emmy asked Lynne, trying to gauge her friend's opinion. Lynne nodded in agreement. "And he's so much better than Alex" Emmy said, rolling her eyes. "I mean, Alex is okay, but he's no Edward." Emmy playfully defended her crush, but Emmy's words were cut short when Edward cleared his throat behind them. The sudden noise made Emmy and Lynne jump, and they turned to see Edward standing in the doorway, a hint of a smile on his face. They both blushed, realizing they had been discussing him in such a personal way. "Um, sorry about that," Emmy said, trying to play it cool. "We were just, uh, discussing...tea options." Edward chuckled and shook his head, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "I think I heard a different conversation altogether," he teased, his voice low and smooth. Lynne and Emmy exchanged a mortified glance, their faces burning with embarrassment. "Anyways, I just got an urgent call at the office I got to go." he said with his eyes fixed on Lynne. Lynne held out the steaming cup of tea, trying to tempt Edward into staying for just a moment longer. "I'm almost done with your tea, can't you just have it before leaving?" she asked, her eyes pleading with him. But Edward shook his head, his expression apologetic. "I really need to hurry, Lynne. My uncle sounded urgent on the phone, and I don't want to keep him waiting." Lynne nodded understandingly, though she couldn't help feeling a pang of disappointment. As Edward turned to leave, Lynne followed him to the door, thanking him for stopping by. "Thanks for coming over, Edward. It was really nice to see you," she said, her voice sincere. Edward smiled and leaned in, his face inches from hers. Lynne's heart skipped a beat as he gently brushed his lips against her cheek, sending shivers down her spine. The soft touch ignited a spark within her, and she felt her pulse racing with excitement. As their skin touched, Lynne's senses came alive. She inhaled the scent of his cologne, and her eyes fluttered closed, savoring the moment. The world around her melted away, leaving only the gentle hum of the evening and the warmth of Edward's presence. For a moment, they stood there, frozen in time, the only sound the soft beating of their hearts. Lynne felt like she was melting into his touch, her very soul stirring with a deep connection she couldn't quite explain. As Edward pulled back, Lynne's eyes slowly opened, and she met his gaze, her heart still racing with excitement. The air was charged with an unspoken understanding, a sense of possibility that hung between them like a promise. Edward slipped into the driver's seat of his sleek Porsche, the engine roaring to life as he turned the key. With a final wave, as he drove away. Emmy, still standing in the doorway, watched him go with a thoughtful expression. Lynne, still reeling from the peck on the cheek, turned to Emmy with a dazed smile. "Wow," she breathed, her voice barely above a whisper. Emmy raised an eyebrow, "Looks like someone's got a crush." Lynne's face flushed, and she playfully rolled her eyes, but couldn't deny the flutter in her chest.
