Chapter 10

It's nearing September and the days are still warm. It's going to be the end of September when Sawyer and I get married. I decided on September 26 for the big day. That will give Jason a few days to prepare and get everything together. I am going to pick up my dress today. It's measured for the average 20 week pregnant woman. Since the back is a corset it will be easier to fit into. The sales associate showed Jason how to do the corset. I would already be in the dress so he could tie it on me. He seemed a little embarrassed about it all, but was happy to put his masculinity aside for my day. We go in today for the 16 week ultrasound as well. I still look bloated. I decided to hit google and get an average week estimate where I'll really start showing. 20 weeks. I'll have a decent size bump in my wedding photos The Doctor called Sawyer and I back to do the ultrasound. We got another photo. I smiled. The baby has definitely more defined features. The Doctor said everything is going well, and measured right where I should be. She also said that I should be feeling movement around this time too. It will feel like a flutter instead of a full on kick. I should start feeling those in a couple weeks. We walk out of the clinic and I couldn't remove my hand from my bump. Sawyer smiled. "I'm a little sad that I can't feel any movement." "The baby is probably sleeping." Sawyer did his best to cheer me up. "Come here." he said as he pulled me into his arms. He assured me that everything is fine. The baby will move, and I'll feel it when I least expect it. When we arrived back home, Jason and Sawyer we're getting the crib together while I took a nap. I didn't sleep well last night. My wedding dress was hung in a black dress bag so that Sawyer couldn't get a preview. He's been asking for one, but I won't cave. He saw what it looked like online but not in person. he can wait a few more weeks. After my nap I felt somewhat better. I decided to find the guys, and figure out plans. I put one of Sawyer's shirts on and some yoga pants. I walked out of the bedroom to find them still looking at the directions for the crib. "What's the matter?" I asked poking my head into what will be the nursery. "I was just mentioning to Jason maybe we should move the crib into our room instead of having the bassinet. We can have the bassinet downstairs in the living room while we're down there instead." Sawyer looked up at me. I sat down on the floor next to Sawyer. "Hand me that, please." I said pointing to the directions. They looked at me confused. I shook my head. "Take A and put it together with C. Then D to I." I said as I read of the directions the crib eventually went together. The guys put the parts together as I read of the directions. I looked around the room as Sawyer helped me up off of the floor. "Something is missing," I said putting my hand on my belly. "What's that?" Jason asked. "The floors are hardwood. which means the room will be colder in the winter months. We need a huge area rug." I looked around some more. "The bed needs to go into storage. And I need a rocking chair for the sleepless nights." "How 'bout a recliner?" Sawyer suggested. I smiled. "That way you'll be more comfortable. We can go to the furniture store tomorrow and get some stuff. I can hook up the trailer so that we can deliver it ourselves so we aren't waiting for someone to come out here." I smiled and hugged him. "You're the best, you know that?" I grinned up at him. We looked at stuff online so see what I liked better. When we arrived at the furniture store I was in awe of all the different styles. There are modern styles, rustic, country, and even vintage. I want to do a modern country style. I picked out a rug with a heard of horses on it, I found a light brown plush recliner. we got 2 of them one for the living room and the nursery. We got a changing table for the nursery as well. The room was coming together perfectly. I smiled as I had Jason and Sawyer move stuff around for me. I felt helpless. But I also felt something else. The flutter. I gasped then I cried. Sawyer ran over to me dropping the crib on Jason's bare foot. "What happened?" He asked frantically. I looked up at him through tears of joy and smiled. "It felt it. The flutter. Sawyer, I felt our baby move!" I cried out. I then realized instead of calling the baby mine, I said our. "Our baby?" Sawyer gasped. I placed his hand on my belly. "Yes, ours." I reached up to kiss him. "Ahem, I'm still here." Jason said faking being annoyed. Sawyer and I pulled apart blushing. I was looking at wedding flower ideas on Pinterest, and Jason walked into the living room. "Do you remember that one night when you were stressed out over your prom dress because the designer got the color wrong?" He said casually walking into the closet. "Yea that was the night Mike decided to have s*x in the school bathroom with the school w***e, and I called you crying to pick me up. What about it?" I asked recalling the one of the worst nights of my life. "Do you remember what we did after I picked you up from the school?" He asked sitting down. "I remember you almost getting arrested for punching his lights out, but I begged the police not to take you, but I also remember getting a tub of ice cream and a puzzle from the store." I said. "I decided to get you something today." he said as he pulled a 1000 piece horse puzzle out. I gasped. "You didn't have to do this." I said stunned. "I know, but I wanted to make a happy memory for you for a long time now especially since that night." He said I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a hug as I cried. "Will you walk me down the Isle?" I asked. "You should have the reveal done by then anyways." "Alison I'd love nothing more than to give you away." he kissed my forehead then hugged me. Sawyer joined us shortly after once we had sorted the pieces of the puzzle. It's was already a fun night. I got up to use the bathroom. When I was done, I heard Sawyer and Jason talking about the baby. "Do you think I could be a good man for Alison?" Sawyer asked with a hint of sadness in his tone. "Dude, seriously?" Jason replied stunned. "I have never seen Alison so happy with anyone. You'll spoil the crap out of that kid. Alison and I never had the best life growing up. I was 10 years old when everything went to s**t for us. She was only 6. When Alison was going through her female stuff I stepped up and helped her. Our dad never did anything for us. when I was old enough to get a job, I was still there for her buying her the prom dress she wanted." I was taken back with his words. "I stepped up and became a father figure in her life, but at the same time I was her brother. She's been dealt some s**t cards, but when you entered her life I was surprised. I know many people may see you as the rebound guy, but I sure as hell don't see it that way. I see you as a man who stepped up and cared for a woman who needed someone decent in her life." I heard Jason's voice crack. "I need to admit something to you, Jason." Sawyer paused. "When I first saw Alison heaving in some tall grass, I had a feeling it was more than a long drive. I assumed she was your sister, but I fell for her instantly. I may have came off a little too strong at first, and I apologize for that. But i gotta say she has made me one lucky man. When I first saw the bruises on her, I knew. I knew she needed to feel loved and cared for. I knew I was the one to give it to her. When that stick was positive, I knew I had to be the one to step up. Like acting on instinct." I stepped around the corner. "Sawyer," I whispered. He looked at me with adearment. "I mean it Alison, I will do everything to make you feel loved and cared for." He said getting up and walked towards me. "I love you so much, baby. I will love this baby as if it was my own." I smiled We left the puzzle on the coffee table and headed up to our room where quickly the moment became bliss. It was a night filled with so much need and passion and desire.
