Chapter 1: The Alpha’s coronation
Orchard pack Lisa, It was the night of the new Alpha’s coronation. Tonight, Gabriel Carrignton, my lover and prince of the Orchard pack will be crowned by his father, our current Alpha. My heart couldn’t stop racing, because I was afraid he was going to finally present me before his family. The fear of his parents rejecting me as the future luna for their son because I was a poor orphan who only ended up as a cleaner. We’ve been childhood friends and grew up to be best friends. We discovered we were in love with each other and decided to give ourselves a try. Two years of dating, but decided to keep it under wraps. “You need to chill, my parents will accept you.” He always said to me, anytime I felt afraid. I was responsible for cleaning the Alpha’s pack house. That's besides where we knew ourselves and started hanging around anytime his mother, the Luna, would scold me. After I lost my parents, he became one of the few people I could lean on. Back to reality. I was in my room, preparing myself for the party when I heard a low and sultry voice behind me, “You look gorgeous. I’m sure Gabriel is going to salivate when he sets his eyes on you.” Sylvia said, jolting me out of my thoughts. “Do you think so?” I stopped what I was doing and gazed at her through the mirror before uttering. Sylvia is my closest female friend. She is a beta but doesn’t mind mingling with me, who is only an Omega. She has shown me love, amongst all the she-wolves in our pack. She’s the only person to whom I have revealed to be in a relationship with Gabriel. The other students on campus were aware, but that wasn’t declared by me nor Gabriel. I guess they might have constantly fallen on us spending time as normal couples should do. And also from the way he defends me from other students. Gabriel wouldn’t mind interfering even when it’s a girl who tries to bully me. He would make sure he scares her. “Yeah, he would be all over you.” Sylvia whispered again, making a smile escape from my lips. I knew she only wanted to cheer me up. Looking in the mirror again, I was wearing a straight black skirt and a white plain button-down shirt, accompanied by low bladder sneakers. Judging by my looks, it looked nothing close to gorgeous. I was dressed this way because tonight I was attending the party as a waitress and not as the future Alpha’s Luna. My warm platinum blonde hair was tied in a low bun, just as usual. I coloured my lips with red lipstick and applied black mascara under my eyelashes. Keeping it simple was what I wanted and that’s what I called makeup from my end. “Let’s go now before someone starts looking for me.” With a grin on my face, I turned off the lights before dashing out of the basement. We took separate roads because her house was just in the corner, while the Alpha’s basement was a little bit far. Walking as fast as I could to arrive at the Alpha’s basement, I knew I was late and I didn’t want anyone to spot me like it would have been hell for me. While walking, I heard someone’s footsteps behind me. “Gosh, who could it be that?” My subconscious barked. Sylvia? Nope, she can’t be the one. She went over to her place to get dressed for the ceremony. Who then? Gabriel? Of course not. He can’t be seen at this hour of the day. He should be in his chamber by now. “Oops… one of the betas maybe.” I took a deep breath before muttering beneath my lips. With this, I quickened my steps, hoping she wasn’t going to spot me. “Hey, not so fast.” I heard the voice say. It was so husky and deep that it sent shivers down my spine. But I know that voice… oh no, that should be Nina... No no no, I am good as death. I stopped immediately when I heard the voice for the second time. Standing still behind her back, I heard her say again… “Do you expect me to ask you to turn?” Her tone was so harsh that I freaked out. With this, I assembled my hands together before gradually turning to meet her face. A movement which could take approximately one second, it took me over four seconds to face Nina. “You?!” With furrowed brows, she questioned pointedly. I parted my lips, expecting my throat to release some words. But to my greatest surprise, I couldn’t say anything. I couldn’t just stand her angry face. I opened my mouth and closed it without uttering a word, with my legs, which were on the point of giving up on me. “Are you trying to play with my nerves, huh? What were you still doing in your chamber?” She yelled, making me gasp. “I’m sorry Beta, it’s just that I was…” Slap! Before I could complete my statement, she gave me a solid slap. My hands flew over to my face to hold the painful area. It was so painful and I had to minimize the pain. “While other miserable omegas of your type are killing themselves for the preparation of the Alpha’s coronation, you were in your chamber busily colouring your lips, huh weakly?” She said, still gazing at me like a piece of trash. I could feel her green hazel eyes glaring at my whole body. “Get lost before I skin you alive.” She raised her hand, threatening to give me another slap. I was quick enough to escape her wrath and render myself at the Alpha’s basement. I entered the kitchen without the Luna spotting me, that would have been another show this night. I rushed in and started preparing everything at once. While cleaning up the environment, I could feel the pack members screaming for joy. That should be the Alpha and Gabriel who stimulated their screams. I spied through the glass window, to take a look at what he looked like. Before I could scan his clothes, I felt his ocean blue eyes dampen on mine. Just as if the moon goddess had planned this. He was wearing a skirt suit with a white shirt. He had a gold hat with pumps. With brilliant jewellery on his wrist and neck, I could tell he was the most handsome figure in the Orchard pack. My wish was to get done with this and finally get to meet him. To tell him how handsome he was and how I have missed him. For now, smiling with him through the glass window was the only option I had. He blinked his eyes at me, and sent my body requesting something I had never wanted before. “What are you spying on over there? You had better go and serve these drinks.” Lily voiced behind my back. Without hesitation, I took the tray that contained glasses of wine and found my way out. Walking and proposing the drinks to the invitees. I had now reached where Alpha Gabriel was standing, as was now the case. “Do you want a drink, Alpha?” I bowed my head before asking, trying hard to avoid his strong gaze. He chuckled when I called him Alpha. Taking a glass among the numerous ones I had in the tray, he leaned a little bit further and whispered in my ear, “Tonight, at exactly 9 pm, I’ll be waiting for you in my chamber.” His voice was low and sultry, and as we leaned closer together, I felt my breathing becoming slower and arousing.
