Adeline
No! I whispered quietly.
I looked at the pregnancy test again in an attempt to confirm my suspicions, and the results were the same—the plus signs were as conspicuous as ever.
Once more, I muttered to my one and only buddy, "Maverick will never accept it."
"I forewarned you. I told you not to get involved with him in any way. You are an Omega, and he is an Alpha son, for crying out loud, so he will never publicly embrace you in front of the pack.
I turned my head back to face my companion, realising that only she was aware of our covert relationship with Maverick. I was advised not to become involved with him.
"Maverick will not take the infant in." He won't abandon us in that manner. Me being an Omega won't matter once he learns of the baby's existence, I added, attempting to persuade myself more than my friend.
You just mentioned that Maverick wouldn't take the child. Adeline, it is true that he would propose to Dara, the daughter of the Star Pack Alpha, and make her his Luna. Adeline, it's not a rumour," Gina remarked.
I understand why the member of the Gamma family's name begins with the letter "G," and the anecdote never fails to make me smile. In retrospect, I realise that I would have laughed if I hadn't been in the midst of a scenario that would change my life.
She also knew Gina was correct, but because she still thought the moon goddess would not turn against her, she was unwilling to face that fact. She was previously dealt a hard blow by the moon goddess, who turned her into an orphan and an Omega.
Maverick's father, the former Alpha of his pack, has retired. She is aware that the elders will be pressing him to find a Luna to reign with him, but Maverick will no longer be an Alpha son but the Alpha of their pack, with the power to reject their request or select the Luna of his choosing.
"Gina, I simply need to talk to Maverick."
Alright! You are welcome to follow along. He was working out on the training field with my twin brother, as far as I knew. They may still be present.
"It's possible that someone may mention my presence."
We'll just say that you arrived to clean the machinery. And you two can slip out to talk while no one else is looking at him.
But, Gina, all eyes are on him at all times. Despite being alone, he is never alone.
Do you want me to give him a call? Allow him to come meet you at this location.
No, I'm impatient. I need to see him because I am so nervous.
"That's my gal." She put her hand around hers and murmured, "Walk with me."
Ten metres from the training field, they noticed Maverick walking across to his apartments.
"Gina! Gina!!!" Pointing to the person making their way to the Alpha's quarter, Adeline spoke.
"Go!" Go talk to him," Gina replied, encouraging her to go a little further.
Legs trembling, I walked in Maverick's way. I was aware that this was my chance to be welcomed by the pack and by Maverick—the moment of truth.
"Alpha! Alpha!" I yelled in my little voice. Maverick teases, "Don't call me that; I'm not an Alpha yet."
"Adeline!" With his fingers on the door handle, Maverick turned back and waited for her to approach him.
"Why are you here during the day? What the hell?" He said to her, "We decided to meet only at night," and then he opened the door and pulled her inside the Alpha family's estate.
Without another word, they hurried up the stairs and made their way to his room.
Adeline, why are you here at this time? Within the security of his room, his voice exploded.
You are aware that there are too many residents here, and I am not visible with you. We discussed this.
I blurted out, "I'm pregnant," not remembering how I had practised telling him.
"What were you saying?"
I didn't think Maverick would be so angry when I told him I was pregnant; instead, I thought he would be happy to learn that he would be a parent.
