Patrols

The breathtaking Moondance pack territories lay deep in the heart of North Eastern Ontario in Canada. A closely-knit werewolf pack of 500 members had immense pride in their way of life. The region was a natural paradise, with towering forests, crystal clear lakes, and rugged terrain, making it the perfect haven for werewolves. The pack patrollers protected the territory from harm. Three elite warriors, Jared (wolf Snow), Brian (wolf Thunder), and Thomas (wolf Night) patrolled the western border that night in their wolf form. The three wolves walked along the border of the Moondance territory, their senses heightened and their bond as pack mates strong. Elite Warrior Jared teased Gamma Thomas -over the mind link- about his way with women while Brian chimed in with his observations. “You know, Thomas,” Jared said, “I always thought you were a bit of a player.” Thomas replied, amused. “A player? Seriously?? What are you talking about, dude?” “It’s how you are always so charming with the ladies,” Brian explained. “How you flutter your eyelashes and flash your winning smile.” Thomas laughed. “I’m just being friendly. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with being nice to the ladies.” He offered, proud of himself. As Gamma, he was indeed more appealing to the she-wolves. Jared continued. “Nice? You go beyond nice, Thomas. You’re like a magnet for the ladies.” Brian snickered. “Yeah, even the female alphas can’t resist you.” Thomas laughed. “Hey, what can I say? I’m just too irresistible. And you know I’m just practicing for when our Alpha Gabriel finally finds his Luna. I’ll be able to support her to the best of my abilities.” Jared nudged Thomas with his snout. “Don’t let it go to your head, Gamma. We wouldn’t want you to become too cocky.” Thunder barked out a laugh. “Yeah, we can’t have you thinking you’re the pack’s Alpha, even if you left you in charge during his trip. What was he thinking, anyway?” Night playfully growled at his friends. “You guys are just jealous of my charm and good looks.” Jared and Brian both let out mock offended noises. “Jealous? Us? Never.” Thunder suddenly stopped as they continued to walk, his ears perking up. “Did you guys hear that?” Snow and Night both froze, their senses sharpening as they listened for any signs of trouble. After a moment, Jared let out a sigh of relief. “It’s just a couple of young pumas in the distance. Nothing to worry about. They shouldn’t venture into our lands.” Thomas grinned. “You guys are too jumpy. You need to learn to relax and enjoy the ride.” Brian chuckled. “Easy for you to say, Gamma. You’re always so cool and collected.” Thomas shrugged. “What can I say? It’s just my natural Gamma charm.” Thomas was a tall, imposing figure with a broad chest and powerful arms. His sharp eyes seemed to take in everything around him, and his calm, measured way of speaking belied his strength and ferocity in battle. Night was a massive, dark-furred wolf with yellow eyes that shone in the moonlight. He was famous for his quickness and courage. As the trio continued to patrol, they caught a faint whiff of a she-wolf. It was hard to tell where it came from, but they knew they needed to investigate. Jared spoke up first over the mind link. “Did you guys catch that?” He asked, his wolf’s ears perking up. Thomas agreed. “Yeah, I did. It’s a faint smell, but we should check it out.” Brian added, “It could be a rogue trying to sneak into our territory. We need to be careful.” As they followed the scent, they picked up on more details. “Do you smell blood? We should act quickly. They could be hurt.” Thomas noted. “Yes, let’s hurry.” Jared agreed, his wolf’s instincts taking over. “Let’s pick up the pace, boys. We need to make sure nobody’s in danger on our watch.” They saw a figure lying unconscious on a rock by the river as they got closer. It was a woman who looked like she had been through a lot. The woman was a sight to behold, with long dark hair that cascaded down her back in wild waves. Her athletic build was clear, even in her unconscious state, with powerful muscles rippling beneath her torn clothes. She had a perfectly proportioned body. As the pack patrol examined her, they noted blood on her without visible injuries or scars. Despite her unconscious state, she emanated power and strength. The patrollers wondered about her identity and origin, but soon their pack doctor would uncover any secrets she possessed. Snow shifted back to his human form. Jared spoke up. “Hey, are you okay?” he asked, approaching her cautiously. Thunder leaned in closer, using his sensitive nose to identify clues about the woman’s condition. He could smell that she was still alive, but barely. Her breathing was shallow, and her heartbeat was weak. Thunder was listening for her pulse with his wolf’s heightened senses and looking for injuries. “She’s alive, but barely. We need to get her to the pack hospital.” Night shook his head, and Thomas replied. “We need to go to the dungeons instead of the hospital. We can’t take any chances if she’s a rogue.” He couldn’t help but feel a sense of protectiveness towards the unconscious she-wolf. “We’re going to take care of you,” he thought. The patrollers knew they must act fast to save this woman’s life. Jared picked up the she-wolf and placed her on Night’s back. While she was not in good condition, they had no choice but to take her back to the pack’s dungeon. She was technically a rogue, and until they could further assess who she was and why she found herself on their pack lands, they needed to be cautious. They discussed what could have happened to her as they returned to the pack house with the injured she-wolf. Brian suggested maybe rogues had attacked her. Thomas shook his head. “I don’t think so. She doesn’t have injuries that would suggest an attack. Her bruises look more like a fall, and her scent differs from any rogues I’ve encountered before.” The situation was very intriguing to him. “Hey, do you think she’s going to be okay?” he asked over mind link. He didn’t know why but was determined to ensure the pack cared for the she-wolf. “I don’t know,” replied Jared with a severe expression. “She took quite a tumble down that cliff. We should get her back to the pack as soon as possible so that she can get some medical attention.” Brian spoke up. “I can’t help but wonder what a rogue as cute as this she-wolf was doing in our territory.” Thomas shot him a sharp look. “That’s not our concern, Brian. Our job is to protect our pack, and that means bringing back anyone who stumbles into pack land to the dungeons to be assessed by the Beta and the Alpha.” Brian shrugged, his quick wit not faltering. “Hey, I’m just saying. Maybe we should monitor her once she wakes up if you know what I mean.” Night growled at Thunder, much to everyone’s surprise. Thomas felt Brian was being rude and inappropriate. Yes, this she-wolf was most likely a rogue. Yes, she was good-looking. But right now, she was unconscious, and Brian shouldn’t be thinking about her sexually. Jared shook his head. “We can’t make assumptions about her until we know more. Our alpha will have to make that call. We must focus on safely getting her back to the pack for now.” They continued in silence for a few moments, the only sound of rustling leaves beneath their paws and the gentle babble of a nearby stream. As they walked, Thomas couldn’t help but wonder about the unconscious rogue. Who was she? Why had she come into their territory? She seemed to have fallen and then dragged herself to the river. Was she running away from someone? If so, who and why?
