The cloaked one

Tension and unease filled the atmosphere in the ancient castle. King Vlad, a dominant presence who had lived for over two millennia, exuded confidence, strength, and respect. However, he was becoming increasingly impatient with the lack of progress in locating his queen and princess, who had been absent for six years. Seated on his throne, he tapped his fingers restlessly on the armrest while listening to his advisors. The two men were tall and thin, garbed in black and mostly concealed by their hoods. Though loyal, their inability to find who he was searching for was trying the King’s patience to its limits. “What progress have we made in our quest to find them?” he demanded, his voice betraying his impatience. “Your Majesty, we have scoured every likely location,” one advisor responded. King Vlad’s gaze narrowed, and his tone became harsher. “So, you mean to tell me that even after all this time, you have no clue about her whereabouts? This is unacceptable!” One man stepped forward, his head lowered. “Why the sudden interest in finding them, my Lord? Didn’t we put the search to rest several years ago?” Indeed they had. His closest advisor had convinced King Vlad that the search was futile. But King Vlad had a continued nagging feeling that his daughter lived and his advisor might not be trustworthy. He had been working to gather evidence of this. “The only important thing is that I have a revived interest in ensuring we didn’t miss anything.” King Vlad took in a deep breath. “I understand she was cloaked for good reasons, but I’m not convinced she died all those years ago.” One man inquired, “Do you have any new evidence, my Lord.” The other advisor attempted to clarify, “Your Majesty, she is cloaked, and that is making the search impossible. We did this for her safety. We have had no trace of her since she went missing. We do not know where they emerged after using the portal to travel.” *******King Vlad flashback******* King Vlad found himself irresistibly drawn to a pure-blood alpha she-wolf. She was a stunning and independent creature who captured his heart. They could not resist their forbidden love. They cherished every stolen moment they could spend together, talked about everything and nothing, and found solace in each other’s embrace. As their love deepened, Vlad and the she-wolf knew they must continue living in fear and secrecy or embrace their passion and face the consequences. Their decision would have far-reaching consequences, changing their lives forever. Their love bore fruit, and the she-wolf became pregnant with their child. They could no longer hide their love from the world, and they announced their union, defying the expectations of both the vampire and wolf communities. Vlad and the she-wolf stood together, their love unbreakable. They won the support of his kingdom. When their child was born on a blue moon, they knew their love had conquered everything. Holding their newborn in their arms, they realized they had created something extraordinary, and their love was worth fighting for. Their child symbolized their love, a precious reminder of the power of love that united two beings. But she was more. One wizard that served Vlad felt the child’s power and recognized the prophecy. “Your Majesty,” he began, “I bring grave news. It is possible that your daughter, the child born on the blue moon, maybe the prophecy hybrid.” The King’s eyes widened in shock, and he could not speak for a moment. The prophecy was ancient, passed down through generations of vampires, and it spoke of a powerful being who would change the course of history. The wizard continued his voice barely above a whisper. “Some would seek to harm her to prevent the prophecy from coming to pass. We must protect her at all costs.” The King nodded slowly, his mind racing with thoughts and possibilities. If his daughter was the prophecy hybrid, her life would be in danger. But he was determined to keep her safe, no matter the cost. As time passed, the baby grew into a remarkable teenage girl, curious and intelligent. She wanted to travel, and they decided she would accompany her mother while she was visiting her sister in the pack she had recently joined. The queen and the princess were teleported to the outskirts of the sister’s pack territory. The princess was to be cloaked to avoid being discovered. Unbeknownst to the King, the wizard, supposed to teleport them to a secure location, sent them away into unclaimed territory. He was working for a different master that sought this power source. King Vlad did not see his beloved queen and princess since they crossed the portal to be teleported. ******End Flashback****** The King leaned forward on his throne, his eyes betraying his frustration. “I don’t care about her cloak or her protection. I care about finding them.” His advisors were out of words and excuses. “You mean to tell me you did not have a contingency plan when you cloaked her?” he snarled, his eyes blazing with anger. He had lost so much six years ago and was not about to lose anything else. His advisors looked away, knowing that they had failed their King. The wizard stepped forward, trying to explain their reasoning. “My king, we couldn’t chance being caught and tortured into providing enemies with a way of getting their hands on our princess.” The Vampire King’s jaw clenched, and he dismissed the wizard’s excuses with a wave. He knew he couldn’t waste any more time. The fate of his kingdom, and most supernaturals, rested on finding the cloaked one and bringing her to safety. “We cannot afford to waste any more time,” he said urgently. “Something in me tells me she’s out there, and we need to find her before it’s too late. The feeling of her being alive has intensified in recent days. We have to find her. She must have come into her powers. She may be in danger.” The advisors nodded solemnly, knowing that they had to hasten. But they also knew they were facing unknown enemies who would stop at nothing to get their hands on the cloaked one. They had to tread carefully. “Send for Charles,” the King ordered, his voice filled with determination. “We need our best trackers. We’ll find her, no matter what it takes.” It didn’t take long for Charles to arrive. He was tall and lean, standing at six feet two inches. He inherited his father’s sharp cheekbones and chiselled jawline, accentuated by his well-groomed beard. The man had jet-black hair slicked back, exposing his prominent forehead. His eyes were a piercing blue, and his skin was so white it was almost eerie. His broad shoulders and muscular build were evidence of his rigorous training and military background. He carried himself with a regal air befitting his royal lineage. Charles was calm and collected. He was a seasoned tracker and had been on many missions before. He stood before the King. His eyes locked on his father’s as he spoke. “I will not let you down, Father. I will bring my half-sister home and your queen,” he said, his voice steady and unwavering. King Vlad nodded, his eyes softening. “I know you will, my son. You have never failed me before.” King Vlad and Prince Charles were both confident in their abilities and experience. King Vlad had avoided sending Charles before, on the counsel of his advisors. But the recent connection he felt to his daughter confirmed that someone in his court was a traitor, and he needed now to rely only on those truly deserving of his trust. Charles was his first son from his initial chosen wife. Long before he met his destined mate, his first wife had left him for her destined mate. King Vlad knew his son Charles well and knew he was loyal to a fault. They stood together in the war room, discussing their plan of action to find the missing princess and queen. The King’s eyes glinted with determination as he listened to his son’s strategy. “We need to start where they were supposed to teleport,” Charles said, calm and measured. “It’s the logical place to begin the search.” Vlad nodded, impressed with his son’s reasoning. He turned to the wizard assigned to help with the search. The Zoltan wizard had been responsible for the teleportation spell that had sent the queen and princess on their journey six years ago. “Zoltan, we need you to come with us,” Vlad said, his tone leaving no room for argument. Zoltan’s face paled, and Charles noticed the wizard’s hands shaking. Zoltan was getting nervous about the plan. “Is there a problem?” Charles asked, his voice sharp. Zoltan hesitated before speaking. “Your Highness, I’m not sure that’s wise. We don’t know what kind of danger we could walk into.” Vlad narrowed his eyes, his gaze piercing. “Are you questioning our loyalty, wizard?” he asked, his voice low and menacing. Zoltan shook his head quickly. “No, no, Your Majesty. Of course not. I only meant that there could be unforeseen risks involved.” Charles stepped forward, his hand on his sword. “We understand the risks, Zoltan. And we will take them. Are you with us or not?” Zoltan hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Yes, Your Highness. I will come with you.” With that settled, the group made their way to the teleportation site. As they arrived, Charles took a deep breath, steeling himself for what lay ahead. The search for his half-sister and stepmother would not be easy, but he was determined to bring them home safely to his father.
