Elite Warriors

It was early morning, and a new day was beginning. The sun was rising over the Moondance pack lands. Gamma Thomas was heading out to meet the other elite warriors. Thomas and Night communicated through their mind link as they walked towards the training grounds. “It’s a beautiful morning, isn’t it?” Thomas said. “Yes, the air is crisp, and the sun is bright,” Night replied. Gamma Thomas paced excitedly as he made his way toward the Moondance pack’s training grounds. “Ready to do this, Night?” Thomas asked with arrogance. “Pff, puny human, I’ll kick all of their ass.” His wolf, Night, could feel his excitement and couldn’t help but join in. Finally, they reached the center of the training grounds, where Beta Matthew led a group of elite warriors in hand-to-hand combat training. The group of 15 highly skilled wolves was already there, stretching and warming up to prepare for the intense workout that was to come. Matthew stood in the center of the arena, his sharp eyes scanning the group as they gathered around him. “All right, listen up,” he barked, his commanding voice echoing throughout the stadium. “Today, we’ll be focusing on close combat techniques. I want you to pair up and practice grappling, take-downs, and submission holds. We’ve heard rumours of increased rogue attacks against the Blood Moon pack. We want to be ready.” The warriors quickly paired up, sparring in a flurry of punches, kicks, and blocks. The sounds of fists hitting flesh and grunts of exertion filled the air as they practiced their moves with precision and speed. Matthew walked around the arena, observing each pair as they sparred. He called out instructions and corrections, offering advice on technique and form. “Keep your feet grounded,” he called out to one warrior. “Don’t lean in too much,” he advised another. “You need to be faster with your counterattack,” he urged a third. He looked at Thomas strolling in. “Nice of you finally to join us, Gamma Thomas.” Thomas rolled his eyes. Matthew was adamant about punctuality for training. “Shut up,” Thomas answered with a grin in Matthew’s direction, and without missing a beat, he joined Elite warrior Samantha for some sparing. Elite warrior Samantha was a force to be reckoned with. She was 24 years old. Her dark hair fell in loose waves around her shoulders, and her hazel eyes seemed to smoulder with an intensity that spoke to her fiery spirit. She moved with a sultry grace, each step filled with a quiet confidence that demanded attention. Samantha had a toned physique, honed by years of training. She had a confident air that made it clear she would not be taken lightly. Samantha’s wolf, Ember, was a beautiful creature with a sleek, dark coat that seemed to shimmer in the moonlight. Her green eyes sparkled with intelligence, and her fur concealed powerful muscles. Ember was fiercely loyal to Samantha, and the two moved together with a seamless grace that speaks to their bond. “Care to make this interesting?” Brian bellowed, “We could wager on them.” Bets were made left and right. Thomas was a proud fighter. He couldn’t lose this battle or would never hear the end. The other elite warriors stepped back, giving them plenty of space as they circled each other. They were both grinning, knowing that this would be a good fight. “You ready to lose, Thomas?” Samantha taunted, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Me? Lose? You must be dreaming, Samantha,” Thomas shot back with a grin. They continued to circle each other, looking for an opening. Suddenly, Samantha lunged forward, her fist flying toward Thomas’s face. He dodged to the side, grabbing her arm and using her momentum to flip her over his shoulder and onto the ground. Samantha hit the mat with a thud but quickly rolled to her feet, her eyes glittering with excitement. “Nice move,” she said with a grin. “Thanks. You’re not too shabby yourself,” Thomas replied. He was getting annoyed with her. He wasn’t putting his best foot forward. Thoughts about the amnesiac she-wolf bothered him. Samantha was taking advantage of the fact that he was distracted. They continued to spar, each of them showing off their impressive skills. They traded blows, kicks, and flips, each trying to outdo the other. The other elite warriors watched in awe, witnessing two of the best fighters in the pack. As the spar continued, neither of them was going to back down. They were evenly matched, each determined to prove they were the better fighter. Finally, after what seemed like hours, Samantha landed a decisive blow, sending Thomas to the ground. He looked up at her with a grin, his eyes betraying his shattered ego. “You win this time, Samantha,” he said, standing up and dusting himself off. “I’m distracted by more important pack work anyway.” Samantha grinned back, her eyes sparkling with satisfaction. She loved putting the men in their place. She also wanted to show her value. If rogues were more present, she would have to join the other elite warriors on the fighting grounds. “I knew I could beat you,” she teased. Thomas rolled his eyes, but there was a fondness in his gaze as he looked at her. “You wish,” he shot back, and they both laughed. Matthew cut in, done with their shenanigans. “If you’re done playing your little games, children, maybe we can continue with training.” The warriors grew more focused as the training session continued, their motions becoming smoother and more intuitive. The intensity in the arena was apparent, the sound of flesh hitting flesh echoing throughout the stadium. After several hours, the training session ended. “Great work today, everyone,” he said with pride. “I can see how hard you’re all working, which shows in your technique. Keep it up, and we’ll be the strongest pack in the region.” The warriors cheered and howled in response, their energy restored by the praise of their beta. As they filed out of the arena, high-fiving and congratulating one another, Matthew couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride and satisfaction. These warriors were his responsibility, and he knew he was helping shape them into the region's most robust, most formidable pack. As Thomas walked off to gather with the other warriors stretching, he felt confident that they could face what was to come. With a pack as strong and skilled as this, there was no limit to what they could achieve. As he made his way towards the exit, Thomas spotted Matthew and Brian walking towards him. “So, what happened back there, Thomas? You got your ass handed to you pretty badly!” Brian said, joining them and giggling like a schoolgirl. Thomas just rolled his eyes. He would not encourage the pup any further. Jared, Thomas, Matthew and Brian went to the pack house mess hall for lunch. As they walked, they chatted about their recent patrols and the state of the pack. The mess hall was large and open, with tall windows that allowed the sun’s warm rays to shine, giving the room a cozy feel. Jared spoke first. “Any news about the she-wolf we found the other night while on patrol?” Thomas took a breath. “Yeah, she was moved to the hospital yesterday. She still remembers nothing. Just that she was running for her life, I guess she fell, and we found her.” Beta Matthew nodded in agreement. “It’s good that you found her before anything worse happened.” Brian continued, “So we still have no clue where she came from. She must be one tough cookie. What’s the nearest pack from here? Blood Moon, and they’re not that close.” “Why do you think she was in a pack, Brian?” Matthew asked. “She surely didn’t fall from the sky. She must have been somewhere, dude. It’s simple logic.” “Ahem, it’s Beta to you, pup,” Matthew said, smiling and raising his eyebrows. They were a pretty laid-back pack, but titles were important in settings such as these. While light banter was tolerable, the hierarchy needed to be respected for the pack to run smoothly. As they approached the buffet, Brian’s eyes widened at the variety of dishes on offer. Gamma Thomas grinned as he filled his plate with some of everything. As they settled at their table, he couldn’t help but think how lucky he was to be part of such a fantastic pack. Jared turned to Thomas. “So, what does it feel like getting your ass kicked by a she-wolf?” Thomas rolled his eyes. “Please. Samantha is good, but she’s no match for me.” Matthew chimed in. “I don’t know, Thomas. Samantha’s pretty impressive.” Thomas huffed. “I can handle Samantha just fine.” Just then, Samantha herself appeared in line behind them, a smirk on her sultry lips. “Is that so, Gamma Thomas? Maybe we should have a rematch sometime soon.” Thomas turned to face her, a sly grin on his face. “Oh, you’re on, Samantha. But don’t cry wolf when I beat you.” Samantha laughed. “We’ll see about that, Gamma Thomas.” The group collected their food and found a table to sit at. They made their way over to the table reserved for the pack leadership, where Gabriel was already seated at the head of the table with a mountain of food. Seriously, that man could eat like nobody else in this pack. “Alpha, is it true that there are increased rogue sightings and attacks on the Blood Moon pack?” Samantha asked. “Those are the rumours we’ve been hearing, but given our tumultuous relationship with the Blood Moon pack, nothing is confirmed.” Gabriel offered. “Should we increase training, then?” Jared asked, looking at Gabriel and then at Matthew. “That’s something we should discuss, indeed.” Matthew jumped in. “We want to be ready if the rogues come knocking at our door.” “By the way, Gamma Thomas was handed his ass by Samantha. He may need to double up on training.” Brian stated, almost falling off his chair because he was laughing hysterically. Gabriel raised an eyebrow, smiling wryly, “Is that so?” Thomas just huffed and kept on eating.
