Chapter three Evelyn's POV I opened my eyes wide awake, seeing the angry face of Alpha Darius with the tall man beside him. “Get her out of there!” He bellowed, and I let out a cry of anguish. The cage was a small cubicle with a rat eating my feet, but I loved it that way compared to what Alpha Darius was planning on doing to me. “Please, Darius. "You have to believe me. "I will never hurt a fly,” I pleaded, walking back to the inner part of the cell. His eyes flashed back at me angrily. “Do you think that crocodile tears of yours will save you? Lyanna told me already.” My breath hitched in my throat. “Lyanna? "She wouldn't.” I said with tears running down my eyes. I had always seen the affection in her eyes towards Alpha Darius, but to think that she would go to such an extent was something I had never anticipated. “Really? So you did kill my father. "Do you think she was going to cover up for you?” Alpha Darius walked back towards the dark cell. “Darius, you need to believe me. "I would never hurt you like that,” I pleaded. “Are you going to tell me why you did it? All of this will be over with just the reason why you had my father killed. "Are you working for the Black Moon Pack?” Alpha Darius asked with an icy tone. “ Black Moon Pack? I don't know anything. You have to believe me.” “Drag her out and chain her up!” he shouted again, his wolf getting angry. The gate was opened, and I was forcefully dragged out. “Please, don't do this.” I pleaded as I was restrained against the pole right in front of me. My clothes were ripped off my body, exposing my bare flesh. “You can do this the easy way or the hard way. Either way, you are going to tell me why you had to kill him.” Alpha Darius lashes out at me again. I closed my eyes and chewed some silent words in my mouth before the first lash landed on my bare back. I gave out a cry of pain as the lash cut through my skin, leaving a searing burn in its wake. I bit my lip, trying to hold back the tears, but they streamed down my face nonetheless. Alpha Darius stood before me, his eyes blazing with fury, his chest heaving with each ragged breath. The tall man beside him watched with an impassive expression, his arms crossed over his chest. The lash came down again, and I screamed, my body arching away from the pain. I felt my wolf stirring within me, trying to break free, but I held her back, knowing that if she emerged, Alpha Darius would kill me on the spot. "Why?" Alpha Darius demanded, his voice low and menacing. "Why did you kill my father?" I shook my head, my eyes pleading with him to believe me. "I didn't, Darius. I swear it. I would never hurt your father." The lash came down again, and I cried out, my body trembling with pain. I felt my consciousness slipping away, but I held on, desperate to convince Alpha Darius of my innocence. Suddenly, a voice rang out, echoing off the walls of the cell. "Darius, stop! You're killing her!" I opened my eyes to see a figure rushing towards us, but Alpha Darius was too far gone, his anger and grief consuming him. He raised the lash again, and I closed my eyes, preparing for the impact, but the hand caught him midway. “What is it?” the handsome-looking man said slowly, making him stop the lash coming down at my back midway. My chest going up and down. I watched as he drew Alpha Darius into a corner, talking. I could feel their gaze falling back at me each time. I couldn't make a word out of what they were saying, but I was free. Free of the torment and the heavy whiplash that landed on me. “She killed him, and I am going to make her tell me what she did to him.” Alpha Darius shouted. “Are you sure she did it?” the voice came slowly. “My father was poisoned, and it is well we have her fingerprint that I asked to see all over it.” Alpha Darius said convincingly. I tried to remember as the blood trickled down the cut in my body. The sound of the blood dropped me to see a moment from my past. “Take this. "It will make you feel good.” I heard a feminine voice say slowly, passing me a red wine tumbler. I tried to picture whose face it was, but then I couldn't. I looked up and saw Alpha Darius walking back towards me. I tried to see the man who had come in just now, but all I saw was his back walking toward the exit. I burst into tears, pleading once again. “Gag her!” Darius shouted at the tall man. “And hold him still.” He said with a cold gaze that sent a shiver down my spine. “Please, Darius. I am trying to remember who did it.” “ Who did it? You mean you did it.” He looked at me. “I said gag her!” He shouted at the man in front of me. Before I could say the next pleasing words, my mouth was gagged, and another lash of whip landed on my back before I blacked out. [ A few minutes later] “Aaaah!!” I shouted, waking up from a bad dream. I looked around and saw I was back in my cage. The pain and the throbbing of each vein in my back were unbearable. I glanced at my front, and I saw my dinner. I felt my stomach rumble as I looked at the dirty bread that looked like a sponge. I crawled, wincing in pain. I heard the gate open again, and I crawled back into the inner part of the cage. I looked forward to seeing the light getting closer to me; I saw a hand gently pick up the bread right in front of me. Looking up, my face changed as I felt my wolf get angry. “You!” I bellowed angrily.
