Evelyn's POV My head went blank, and I nearly went mad. “What did you just say to me?” I looked at Lyanna and looked back at Alpha Darius, who was fuming with rage. I knew what happened to a lone wolf. I had nobody; I was at the mercy of Alpha Darius. “You have to believe me, Darius. “ I said pitifully, crawling towards him on my knees. “I didn't do it.” I pleaded, crying my eyes out. “You have to believe me.” I clung to his knees desperately. “ Believe you? Did you just say believe you? "You are a murderer!” Alpha Darius shouted in my face, kicking me like I was a ball. I rolled on the floor with tears flowing freely from my face. “Your footprint is all over the crime scene, and yet you want me to believe you didn't have anything to do with my father's death.” He looked at me. His gaze met mine like he wanted me to admit to my crimes. A crime I didn't commit. “I will never hurt you like this, Darius. "You are my mate. "We belong together.” I rushed at him again, falling at his feet for mercy. “ Did you just call me your mate? "Do you know why I had to marry you in the first place?” Darius looked at me as my face went pale. For a moment, I stopped pleading, and I looked at him. “Yes, do you think I want to be with nobody like you? I never wanted to be with you, but my father, the one that you killed, believed so much in mating that he forced me to marry you. Now he is dead!” I wanted to cry so much that I could not. “I don't know why you did it, but I am going to find out, and when I do, you are going to pay for doing this to me.” Alpha Darius looked at me. Having said that, some of his men grabbed me off my feet and dragged me out of the room. Alpha Darius refused to listen to my cries of pleas despite everything. I was about to bend the corner in the hallway when I saw a tough smile on Layaana’s lips. As I was dragged into the cold cell, I felt this was just a plan to get me into trouble. “You are going to be rotting here for a very long time.” One of the guards said to me with a smile. “You should never have tried to steal her man. "Do you think she was going to let you have him?” I stared out of the cold cell with my eyes glittering in the dark. “Please, you have to believe me; I didn't kill Alpha Darius's father,” I said, sobbing. “You should have voiced it louder.” The guard laughed and trailed off, leaving me in darkness. I clutched my body as I felt the cold breeze from the little cell blow onto my body. I could still feel every harsh word being uttered at me by Alpha Darius, but then my mind went to Lyanna. She had this look on her face that showed that she knew what I was going through. Did she? The thought evaporated when I heard the gate open once more. I clutched my stomach as they rumbled violently. I knew I was hungry. I was supposed to wolf out when I had intimacy with my wolf, Aloha Darius. Who doesn't seem to want me anymore? The little light in the distance illuminated the darkness as it got closer to me with each step. A bed was thrust into my cell like I was a nobody, a lowly slave. “ I would grab that if I were you. "You are going to need all the strength you can gather for what is coming next,” The guard said, walking away. “What is coming next? "Can you please tell me that?” I shouted as the light disappeared, leaving me in total darkness. I remembered my past life for a bit. I remembered how I had met Alpha Darius and how he had promised to be my world, my everything. I could feel Lyanna, who was my best friend, getting distant from me, but then I thought she was just being thoughtful, and she was trying to be a good friend. I still don't want to believe she knew what I was going through. My stomach grumbled again, and I looked at the bread in front of me. The cell was dark, but I was surprised I could see it. I haven't wolfed out yet, so I wasn't supposed to have any werewolf ability. I remembered his words and wondered what it meant. Alpha Darius hasn't come to visit or see me since he left me to be taken to the cell. I looked through the little cell window I was locked inside, and I saw it was getting dark. I felt my energy drained from the weeping, and I felt sleepy. I crawled on all fours towards the loaf of bread in front of me and munched on it. It felt sore, like it was rotten, but I didn't mind. My beggar doesn't have a choice. I needed to eat to gain my strength for what is to come, but unfortunately, I don't know what is coming for me. After eating, I felt my vision blurry and thirsty. I lay down and gently closed my eyes, trying to find a bit of comfort. I knew Alpha Darius was going to come back for me, and when he did, I needed to be able to think straight. As I shut my eyes, I tried to remind myself of how it all happened, but each time I did, I barely remembered how it happened. I remembered Lyanna smiling at me and then gave me a drink. “Did she poison my drink?” I said slowly as I fell into a deep sleep. The creak of the gate woke me up; my heart thudded gently as I saw Alpha Darius standing in front of my cage with a guard as tall as a Goliath standing right next to me.
