Chapter FifteenLynn sat on the bathroom floor beside the toilet, rocking back and forth with her head in her hands. Her body shook with the shock of what they had done to her father. She made herself take several deep breaths, and then forced herself into a standing position on wobbly legs.
Lynn made her way to the front window and looked out into the street. She knew it was wasted effort. Anyone who was watching wouldn't be visible to her. She walked over to the telephone and was about to pick it up when the it rang. Lynn stared at it and momentarily froze. Then she picked up the phone and spoke quietly. “Hello?”
An unfamiliar, deep voice spoke in cool, even tones. “I trust that by now you've opened your mail.”
