Chapter Six

Chapter Six Summoning and Telekinesis THE DULL gleam coming from the moon radiated a mystic and weak incandescent among the four of us. Like a molten candle left in the middle of darkness. "Do you have any other tricks aside from those childish bulb shenanigans?" Lumence caught my attention when he suddenly broke the silence. He was now standing a few meters away from Gamence and I. His hand is a bit elevated on the side, with palms firmly held in the air--like he is ready to use his skills any moment from now. Silence reigned the next few seconds. It was a dangerous kind of silence. As if four predators coincidentally intersected in the middle of a jungle and are now battling for dominance. I heightened my senses so I can feel my surroundings clearly. My sense of vigilance is getting sharper and sharper by the second. Despite the drastic and unexplained appearance of these twins, my intuition still decided to trust them in this situation. But I tried to make it as vulnerable as possible, a little spark of doubt will help me to balance my sense of judgement. Before any of us could make any movements, another bulb on a nearby lamp post abruptly ablazed to life. In the middle of the spotlight-like light is a silhouette of a man. I think that he is wearing a hoodie because of the shape of his shadow. I noticed the sudden change in Lumence's posture. It screamed with alertness, like a vulture stretching its claws to clasp a prey. From where I am standing, I can feel an overflowing  but controlled life force radiating from his firm hands. But he was not the only one with a torrent aura. Because the blinding darkness did not hide the potent force emanating from the mysterious guy under the lamp post. I may not clearly see the man but I can tell that he is a guy. The way he's standing also indicates his covert eyes intently staring at Lumence as if a beast waiting a perfect time to pounce its prey. I suddenly felt that familiar volts of electricity that made the hairs at the back of my nape and arms tingled in an unexplained chill. "Who are you and what do you want?" Gone was the playfulness in Lumence's voice. I feel like he suddenly transformed to be like his twin brother who still happened to be beside me; emotionless and absolute. My freezing hands tightly clenched my motorcycle as the stranger took a single step forward. His step did not even made the tiniest bit of sound. I expected him to take another step forward but something different happened... "Lumence!" I screamed in complete shock when a strange ball of light suddenly blasted him away from where he was standing. His body catapulted in the air for split seconds before crashing in the cold cement. He lay flat in the cracked surface of the road and I noticed his body shook a bit with uncontrolled tremor as if being electrocuted. That's when I figured that the strange light that blasted him away must be some sort of concentrated energy in a form of thunder bolt or something. Thinking about it, it does look like a lightning! Extremely flabbergasted, I tried to withdrew from my motorcycle and immediately rush to rescue him or something but a pair of strong arms hindered my supposedly sharp movements. I aggressively faced Gamence with an aggravated expression. "Let me go! Didn't you see what just happened to your twin?" My eyes are like daggers slashing its way to the impenetrable coldness of his stares. But his expression remained indifferent. "And what are you planning to do? Spike a volleyball straight to his opponent's face?" His voice laced with freezing sarcasm. How dare he! I tried to wiggled my way out of his hold but to no avail. His strong hands just would not budge a bit plus I feel like he is using his skill to plant my clothes on my frigging motorcycle. His arms held my waist even tighter as his cold eyes quench my burning eyes. "Your wits cannot do anything in this kind of situation, Azul." He uttered in pure bluntness. I was about to spit something offensive when I heard a loud bang. I instantaneously turned my attention back to where Lumence was earlier. He was now standing with his hands firmly clenching an invisible energy in the air. Standing in front of him was the stranger who's fond of messing up with light bulbs. His hooded jacket is still doing its job of masking his face. As I stared at him, I noticed something on his hands. I squinted my eyes to see it clearly and there I notice a thread-like luminescence that exude an odd light with irregular patterns. No, it was sparks. I realized that it was literally thin threads of electricity that was dancing on his hands. But before I could even process it, the spark of electricity from his palms drastically evolved into hazardous balls of energy, the sizzling sounds coming from it dully resonated into the silent night. And in a speed almost similar to light, a familiar bolt of electricity blasted the very spot where Lumence stands. I gaped at the sudden attack. The blasted cement was burnt and cracked...indicating how powerful that attack was. I'm sure that if Lumence happened to be hit directly by that thing, he'll be a living barbecue within seconds. However, there was no traces of Lumence in that zone. Only the thin fabrics of smoke was there to be seen. That's when I noticed another silhouette approaching the hooded man from the back. His body built confirmed that it was Lumence--about to launch an attack from behind the man. The silver dagger he was holding twinkle in the night as he thrust it towards the direction of the strange electric guy. But his opponent quickly dodge the attack, his vigilance enables him to sense his surroundings. As he evade Lumence's attack, bolts of electricity ablazed from his hands again. All the lamp post around the area have gone crazy again as his palms flared with dancing electricity. -C. N. Haven-
