Chapter Twelve (Part 3)
"Remember the Lotus, Ryz! Do not forget..."
"They're here! Let's go!"
I shook my head in an attempt stop the voices from taking over my sanity.
"We'll find each other again. I swear! We'll find you, Azul!"
"Stop..." I begged the thoughts to leave alone. My head is aching too much, I can't handle it anymore.
"Protect the Lotus, Ryz. They're after it. They will hunt you down..."
"Run as fast as you can!"
"There's no way we can escape! They are already here!"
My head throbbed so bad as the mysterious voices continue to swarm through my mind. Voices after voices pounded my skull like a broken tape. I want to scream but I can feel is the soreness of throat. I feel like, I am prisoner being tortured by things that I cannot fully understand.
"Please stop it!" I screamed so loud for the first time, I can feel my body trembling with fear.
...And then there was silence. But my hands remained on my head.
"Ryz..."
My trembling hands faltered as I heard a familiar voice. Of all the voices around me... it was the most refined. As if it was directly whispering on my ears. The voice was crystal clear that I immediately recognized who it was.
"Ryz..." the voice beckoned me again.
My quivering hands slowly withdrew from holding my head and my eyes also relaxed as I tried to open it.
Something about the voice... soothed the monsters within me. It's like a call that I need to heed.
As my visions adjust to the blankness of my surroundings, a familiar figure gradually takes shape in front of me.
"Blade..." I whispered his name in a very familiar way.
His hazel brown eyes and kind look enveloped my eyes into focus.
He did not move an inch but a part of me says that I need to go near him. I need... to touch him. I want to touch him.
I stride my towards him, my hands slowly stretching forward to reach him. As the tip of my finger is about to reach him, his image suddenly glitched. Like an old television unable to play the next scenes.
"Blade what's hap--" a high pitch sound abruptly resonated in the darkness. I covered my ears as I endure the sound, it was as if my sense hearing faltered and all I can hear was that sound. Blade's image gradually faded into darkness as the sound continuously pounded my ears.
What's happening...
The sound suddenly ceased, bringing back my sense of hearing. But the only thing I heard after that is faint voice from Blade.
"Ryz, run. Run away from here."
I WOKE up feeling the sweat dripping from my temples down to my neck.
"Ah, damn it." I massaged my temples when I felt the familiar headache again. It feels like a drummer is pounding my head real bad.
I glanced at the alarm clock on the side table and it is two minutes before my daily wakeup schedule. I covered my forehead with my palm as I let my body fall in the bed again.
Damn it... what the hell is wrong with me?
Why can't this headache just go away? Am I sick or something? But that's just impossible. I can never be sick.
I closed my eyes for awhile and then fragments of my dreams immediately flashed into my mind.
Blade... why do I have to dream about you in this kind of time? If you'll know what I am thinking right now, you will definitely make fun of me.
What I am thinking is just impossible, right? It has been years since it happened. I don't know why I am thinking this way when I know that you are already--
The snooze of the alarm clock severed my train of thoughts. I weakly opened my eyes while still gently massaging my forehead using my palm. My eyes wander from the palm that I am using down to my wrist. I often wear wrist watch to cover it for a particular reason and I only removed it when I sleep at night and that reason is this...
A faded tattoo quietly rests on my left wrist. A small but significant tattoo of a flower called Lotus.
A memory from the past briefly grazed my mind as I stared at it.
"Uh... are we allowed to have tattoo? We're just minors." Rheig hesitantly inquired in a faint voice while my mom and dad are preparing an unfamiliar device which they told us to be a tattoo machine or device or something.
A metallic wire is curved to look like a lotus flower and it is connected to a thin metal cylinder that extends for a about twelve inches. It looks menacingly futuristic.
"I don't care about the age requirement. Because I'm excited tk get one. I just wish we could choose our own design." Lumence said enthusiastically.
"Guys, listen to me..." my mom called our attention. The rest of us stared at her and then she continues. "...this is not an ordinary tattoo that you permanently put on your skin just for fun. This is a micro-technology designed as harmless tattoo. It is a vital tool for your safety."
Blade raised his hand as if to ask if he can talk. My mom nodded at him.
"May we know the purpose behind it?" He said in a gentle tone.
My mom smiled.
"It's a tracker. So that if one day, something unfortunately happened, you can still find your way back."
Yeah, that was the purpose of this tattoo. An ordinary-looking tattoo that actually works as a tracker to each one of us. Bad sadly, after that incident, the signal that it transmit just unknowingly disabled. I don't know the reason why but years ago, when I tried to find them, the tattoo that I expected to served as a tool did not help at all. That is why it has been years since the last time I saw any of them. But now, Gamence, Lumence, Zephyre, and Rheig are here and for one vague reason...
I glanced at my study table that is now neatly fixed.
...it's because of me.
