Meg's POV
I was really excited but anxious at the same time because surely, these findings were strange and not once, have I heard of this part of kloan and it was never spoken about after the incident with the creature which seemed kind of strange now that I think about it. I always asked my parents about the creature back then and they said that it was one dangerous creature that was believed to be their in the early years when the world had just began and in those days, I had replied saying we were blessed for it to be alive at this time yet many had never seen it.
But now that I see, it kind of seemed strange that this creature was still alive when it was believed that they were extinct and this left a question that no one but the protectors could answer and that's if they were willing to answer.
How did this creature weave its way into this century? And to be exact this part of the world when there are other safe and better places?
Kloan was a small town that rarely received visitors because it was centered in the wild. Then somehow it became a town for the family of protectors to make protecting the jungle easy and so was middle heart though it was slightly bigger than kloan but it was believed to be the "granary" of kloan. It was where the families of protectors stayed and so were the close relatives.
I never really knew why the protectors were so adamant about people not leaving these towns located in the jungle. It was never really allowed unless you were moving from one town to another in the jungle but never outside the jungle. I'd never really given it much thoughts because I loved the jungle and earth naturally so I didn't really have any problem with it and I don't know though I'm starting to get curious and I would really like some answers.
I saw the lion in front of me and laughed, like really laughed at its size. Who has ever seen a lion, the size of a cat, actually the size of the fattest cat because I sure have. I really was not scared but just amazed at the size of the being in front of me. I'd seen many lions to know that this size wasn't normal because even the lion cubs were bigger and seeing it in front of me with cute eyes made my heart lift.
I went and knelt in front of it and ruffled its mane which was soft as whiskers fur and it really made me miss her. The lion tried to growl at me but it came out as more of a squeal and I laughed when it narrowed it eyes at me. I chuckled and stepped aside of it before continuing my journey ready and eager to tell Loyrane though she was anxious at the abnormality of this part of kloan.
I headed inside the cave to find Loyrane just waking up from his nap or maybe involuntary sleep because he didn't sleep on his own will. He looked up at me and I opened my mouth ready to fill him in on what I found when I noticed that his mask was off.
" How in the world are you able to breathe on this island? Did you lie to me" I screamed in surprise and Loyrane looked at me like he had just noticed that his mask was off.
In that moment, my eyes looked at him one more time appreciating his beauty. His hair was milk white that in the dark, it looked like silver and his bronze skin was filled with no marks and his lips were blood red and his teeth were sharp and long while his gold red eyes stared around in amusement. He looked around and his eyes widened like he was seeing this cave for the first time and he breathed out a laugh saying that he could breathe in this cave making him smile in relief like he was waiting for this moment for a long time. He got up to say something when he frowned at something behind my back and he let out a squeal loudly after and in fright, I jumped on him making us fall down on the hard surface of the cave and by the grunt Loyrane let out, it made me realize that his landing wasn't exactly soft.
I got off him before looking behind at where Loyrane looked before squealing and noticed that the cute lion had followed me up to this cave. I smiled at Loyrane reassuringly before squatting down and petting the lion which purred in response making me smile widely. The lion lay down before closing its eyes in content but snarled when I stopped so I figured it liked being petted just like normal cats and this discovery made me frown because lions have never liked being petted.
*********Third Person POV********
Loyrane looked at Meg who was petting the little lion if that's what you could call it with fear. He feared animals of the jungle but was fascinated when Meg pat its back like it was a normal occurrence. He was still figuring out how his mask came off and how he was able to breathe and how comes, the most feared animal of the jungle was as little as a cat here in this forest. This land seemed surprising to say the very least and so far, everything seemed different which made Loyrane conclude that this forest was magical because that was the only way to explain its abnormality.
Loyrane touched his face smiling and content that in the forest's abnormality, he had received the freedom of moving without the mask which made him uncomfortable. He was not comfortable with his looks because his eyes looked like that of a serpent than a dragon and he was belittled for it by many of his fellow aliens because most of them had the most beautiful eyes unlike him so this made him use the mask more often even at his planet.
Loyrane was grateful that Meg didn't look at him like he was something ugly or evil because that's what his looks signified on their planet. So he told Meg to get up and they'll be on their way to the bot and would be back the next day after enough preparations so as not to face unexpected circumstances and Meg didn't oblige though the clingy lion tagged along and this made Loyrane grunt at its antics. Did it want to be a pet?
