He realised that the ruins he was standing in were the last remaining evidence that the Brooks existed, besides Axel himself. It was his old home; the place he grew up in with his parents, during King Varken’s rule: predecessor to Dormen. He remembered learning magic from his parents here. It had a large dining room, three separate bedrooms and a guest house above. It was beautifully built. The large stone walls had small places where candles could be placed, but their parents would never need them; they could just create a glowing orb whenever they needed.
