4. Investigation

    I sat in an ambulance with a shawl around me looking at the investigation team which said there was no trace of anything. April tried to sniff other scents but was disappointed at the end. I don't know What Lilith was doing inside the mansion with Sir. Alfasno?

    I looked at another ambulance where Lord. Lucifer sat cradling the baby in his arms and chole clung to his arm refusing to leave him. Lord. Lucifer's eyes had the most vulnerable feeling. I never thought such a strong, powerful man can be this susceptible.

    I wanted to go and soothe him, but I also knew my limits. The baby he cradled was crying non-stop, whenever I looked at the baby my heart would break hearing the cries. Lord. Lucifer was trying his best to make it stop, but the baby continued its loud sobs.

    When the tears started escaping from baby's eyes I couldn't barricade myself. I walked to the ambulance which was on the other side of the road. "May I?" I asked and I was bewildered when he easily gave me the baby. I took the baby in my arms when the baby was putting its wrist in its mouth.

    I knew the reason for the baby's wails. I hurriedly dialed Kanisha, my friend, to be here as soon as possible. I just hung up, Kanisha was in front of me with a milk bottle in her hand. I smiled and started feeding the baby the milk where the baby started sucking hungrily.

    Chole's expression changed from terrified to curious. I was a little bothered about her as she didn't speak a single word other than crying. "So what happened here?" enquired Kanisha snapping her fingers. As soon as the snap was done, a fog was created under us forming a cloud. 

    Kanisha sat on it indicating me to take a seat. I told her the entire incident when she took the baby and started feeding the milk taking the bottle from my hand. I looked at Lord. Lucifer, who looked broken by the scene of his beloved's death. 

    A wind blew in front of me blowing my shawl from my arms. Kanisha had clutched the newborn to her heart. I was about to call April feeling threat when I looked at Lord. Lucifer, who was hugging a man. When I looked closely, it was none other than my crushed crush, Lord. Lucifer's brother. 

    My breath hitched seeing him in casuals. He wore a blue T-shirt with black jeans with short spikes of hair. He looked completely different from the morning. As if listening to my thought he turned his eyes to me. Suddenly his eyes turned red, I staggered back from the amount of fury in his eyes.

    One second he was standing there and in another second he was standing in front of me with my throat covered by his palm almost pressing to the point where I could barely breathe. By the time I was released I was coughing and taking a large amount of intake of oxygen.

    Lilith was accompanied by Sir. Alfasno, who was talking intensively without the care of the world around them. I moved forward to enquire about it when Lord. Lucifer beat me. "Anything you found?" The eagerness in Lord's voice was clearly seen. 

    "Do you recognize this cloth?" Lilith asked indicating the black cloth in her hand which she held with white gloves. Lord nodded in no. "This cloth was found in the hand of one of the dead women. I asked Sir. Alfasno and got to know she was chole's mother. I think she was trying to prevent the killer from getting the Lordess, at  that time a piece was torn I think." Lilith was interested in Forensics, but I wanted her to go to the medical field serving people.

    "I can't smell anything from this!" Lord's brother spoke this time. "Lance, it is because every scent of the person is covered. It is done by a spell even I cannot detect." Sir. Alfasno expressed his thought. At the same time, Kanisha handed me the toddler taking the cloth from Lilith. She narrowed her eyes at the cloth.

    "The smell is from the spell, but it is not the witch spell, it is from the black magic spell." Kanisha's words were like a truck hitting a person. Why would anyone want such a thing using black magic? "How are you so sure?" Sir. Alfasno inquired.

    "Kanisha is a witch who worked around the lands which performed such type of magic. She is the best in it." I said reminiscing the time where we had to go up to the lands to save our pack. Sir. Alfasno nodded listening. 

    "That's not it, the cloth has the traces of some acid. See here.." Lilith showed the spot in black cloth. "..these holes indicate the acid droplets were on the cloth." She would continue about acidic reactions if I would not have stopped her.

    "It's almost late, I think you should go back home. " I nodded at Sir. Alfano's thought. The omega driver had left as I had asked him to go. I reluctantly handed the little one to Lord. Lucifer. "Make sure the baby burp as she just drank the milk." He just nodded at me.

    I stood beside Kanisha who was arguing with April. For the last time, I looked at Lance who was watching me with such intensity that I feared he would see my soul, even when I felt uncomfortable and looked away as I could still feel his eyes on me.

    Is he planning to suck my blood in front of everyone? My eyes widened at the thought and automatically my eyes were on Lance who was still eyeing me but this time his sight was not on my face, but on my chest. I looked down only see my shawl was out of place with my t-shirt a bit lowered which was giving a clear view of my cleavage.

    I hastily covered it with my shawl, narrowing my eyes at him. That moron has the audacity to smirk my way and then again always vampires hate humans but don't have any problem when having pleasure. Kanisha was asking me to touch her when I did she closed her eyes and we were near my apartment.

    Kanisha and I resided in the same apartment, but she stayed just above my floor. We all took the lift and Kanisha took the stairs saying she needs some exercise. I swiftly entered my bathroom for a shower to erase the image of the horribly murdered women.

    I had informed them about blue eyes and black cloak other than that I didn't see a thing. The investigation team asked April, Lilith, and Omega driver I brought, but they told me that they didn't see anything coming from the front door. 

    The moment they heard my scream, April and Lilith ran to the mansion and they didn't see anything other than me fallen unconscious on the floor. I wore my nighty, dried my hair, and tried to sleep. Whenever I closed my eyes, the image of two dead women would pop in my head.

    I felt a dip in my bed. When I turned, it was Lilith who hugged me as soon as I turned around. I think even she couldn't sleep from the turn of events. Tomorrow I am definitely getting an earful from Beta Arnold. I sighed hugging Lilith who had her hand on my waist.

       Suddenly my phone rung which made Lilith frown in her sleep. I took my phone leaving my room to the living room. "Hello?" I almost yawned but stifled it.

    "What do you eat?" I looked at the phone not perceiving who it is and demanding some s**t. "Excuse me, Do I know you?" I asked in return hoping it is not some stranger.

    "It is Lance. Marella." That one name knocked by breath. I released the breath to talk further. "Yes, what do I owe you?" I asked to know the sudden distress call.

    "I asked you what do you eat?" His question was strange if I didn't know him I would have thought he would take me to date. "I eat a lot of things, but you need to specify the reason for this question," I said as politely as possible.

    "Chole is admitted to hospital, she needs something to eat. What do you eat?" Then I realized that he was not that much of a jerk I thought him to be. "Just peel some apples and give it to her, she will feel better." I think the doctors want to give some tablets to her so they insisted him to feed her something.

    "Does that even fill the stomach?" I so badly wanted to question him if Chole is a dinosaur. "It is a big thing if she eats a whole apple. Ok, now chop-chop to bring an apple for her.." I hung up not wanting to fight with him.
