Jenny said so and went to the washroom. Slowly, night fell, and everyone was getting ready to leave. David Bennett, who was Jenny's dad, was sitting in the hall waiting for everyone. Just then, Michael came and said, "Dad, when will we leave?"
Hearing this, David said, "Son, we are ready, but the girls are getting ready as if they are going to a wedding." Mr. David said this jokingly. Hearing this, Michael laughed and said, "If mom hears what you said, you will be in trouble."
Just then, Jenny came in wearing her night suit and was heading to the kitchen. David stood up and said, "Jenny, why aren't you ready yet?" Michael, looking sad, said, "Are you not coming today either?"
Seeing Michael sad, Jenny didn't feel good at all. So, she put a fake smile on her face and said, "Oh, is my little baby sad? I am not coming because I am not feeling well today. Otherwise, I had picked out the exact same clothes for both of us."
Hearing this, Michael said, "You are lying, sis."
Hearing this, Jenny said, "If you don't trust me, go and check in the room, they are still there." Hearing this, Michael ran to Jenny's room. Seeing this, Jenny turned her face back to an expressionless one and started to leave. She didn't even consider it necessary to say anything to her dad.
David felt sad seeing this, but before he could say anything to Jenny, Emily came and jumped with joy, saying, "Dad, how do I look?" Seeing this, David smiled and said, "You look very nice." Hearing this, Emily proudly said, "I am beautiful, so of course, I will look good." Emily was saying this to make Jenny hear, but it didn't affect Jenny at all; she continued working in the kitchen.
Michael came down happily and said, "Sister, look, I even put on the same clothes as yours and mine." Seeing this, Jenny smiled slightly and, fixing Michael's hair, said, "You look very nice."
Michael said, "Sister, when we go to Conan's house again, we'll both wear these together." Hearing this, Jenny didn't say anything and just smiled and nodded.
Emily, making a face, muttered to herself, "It would be better if she doesn't come. Anyway, when she's around, no one looks at me." Saying all this, Emily was looking at Jenny angrily.
David looked at Jenny once and then said, "Laura, how much longer are you going to take?" Hearing this, a voice came from inside, "Yes, I'm just coming." David muttered to himself, "I've been hearing that for a while now." No one else heard him, but Michael, who was coming with Jenny, did and started laughing. Seeing this, Jenny asked, "Why are you laughing?"
Michael said, "If mom doesn't come down soon, dad will go alone." Hearing this, Jenny also started laughing. Just then, Laura came and said, "Let's go, we're so late." Hearing this, David felt like banging his head somewhere, and Michael was holding his stomach from laughing so hard, but he couldn't laugh out loud at that moment.
Then everyone left for the Archers' house. Jenny closed the door and went to her room. Once in her room, she neatly put away all the clothes she had taken out to show Michael and then took her phone to chat with her friends in a chat group.
At the Archers' house...
Margaret had been ready for a while, looking at the door. Seeing this, James said, "Baby, why are you pacing so much? You're already so thin, and you'll get even thinner." Hearing this, Margaret came up to James and said, "You shouldn't say anything, especially about my size." Margaret said this a bit irritably.
Conan was coming downstairs from the back staircase. Seeing him, Margaret said, "Did you tell her?" Conan didn't say anything, just nodded his head. Margaret got irritated and said, "The father can't stop talking, and if the son opens his mouth, it's like the world will end." Saying this, she sat down on the sofa.
James and Conan heard everything but didn't say anything. They just looked at each other and shook their heads. A little while later, the Bennett family arrived.
Margaret had been watching the door, and everyone was very happy to see each other. Margaret was still looking at the door. Seeing this, David said, "She didn't come." Hearing this, Margaret felt a bit sad. It wasn't just Margaret; Conan and James also felt sad, but looking at Conan's face, no one could tell if he was sad or not.
Margaret said, "Yes, it's been two years since she came to this house." Hearing this, Michael said, "Who? Who didn't come?" Michael was very eager to know everything, so he asked excitedly this time as well.
Emily, making a face, said, "Your sister."
Hearing this, Michael went over to Margaret, hugged her, and said, "What's this, baby? I'm here, and you're still missing someone else?" Michael said this teasingly to Margaret. Hearing this, James glared at Michael and said, "Little mouse, she's my wife, understand?"
Margaret responded, "He's my boyfriend, got it?" Hearing this, Michael stuck his tongue out at James. Then he looked at Margaret, who now seemed happy, and said, "Sister was supposed to come today, and you know, she even picked out matching clothes for both of us. But she didn't come because she was feeling unwell."
Hearing Michael's words, Margaret just smiled and nodded, thinking to herself, "Jenny made another excuse not to come, I know it."
Everyone was sitting down to eat when Conan felt someone touching his foot with theirs. Feeling this, Conan looked down and saw that it was none other than Emily, who had been watching Conan for a while. Since Conan wasn't looking at her, she did this to get his attention.
Conan didn't like anyone touching him without his permission, but he couldn't do anything about it at that moment. He looked at Emily and moved his foot away. Just being looked at by him was enough for Emily to get lost in her thoughts about him.
