Moving On

The next thing I know I am waking up completely drained of energy in my wolf form. Sapphire must have ran until she dropped. I was thankful for her help to get away from those rogues. A low growl brought me out of my thoughts. I was so out of it that I hadn’t noticed that I was surrounded by wolves. I must have wandered into another pack’s territory. The one that growled seemed to have power behind him. He must hold a high position in a pack, probably a beta, the second in command. He shifted back to his human form, so he could talk to me. Since I wasn’t a part of his pack, he couldn’t talk to me through mind link. “Shift.” he commanded. I glanced up towards him for a brief moment, then I did as he asked. I shifted back to my human form completely naked and vulnerable. It took longer than normal to shift and was very painful, due to me being so weak. Once I was in human form he asked, “Why did you come into our territory? What are your intentions here?” I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out. Before I could respond I felt my body getting heavy, and darkness claimed me once again. I woke up surrounded by darkness. I was laying on a hard cot inside what looked like a cell. I was wearing a basic grey sundress. That was kind of the pack to dress me, they didn’t have to put clothes on me. I am a complete stranger to them, and a rogue in their eyes. I must be in the pack’s dungeons. I don’t know what Sapphire was thinking running into another pack’s territory like that. I have done a pretty good job avoiding the other packs in the area for this reason. I didn’t want to end up in a dungeon or killed. I tried to sit up, but it hurt to move. The memories from the previous night flooded my mind. I could feel my eyes start to water. I try to sit up and I wince in pain. Damn, I must have a few broken ribs. I noticed that I wasn’t alone in the cell. There was a pair of green eyes piercing right through me. He had an awesome power surrounding him. It emitted from all around him. He was definitely the Alpha. Shock shook my body to the core. What was the Alpha doing here? It suddenly became difficult to breathe. I was starting to have a mini-panic attack. I did the only thing that I could think of at the moment. I rolled off the cot that I was laying on and instantly kneeled down saying, “Alpha, please have pity on me. I mean you or your pack no harm. I accidentally came into your territory after trying to escape some rogues that attacked me. If you allow me to, I will leave your territory and never return.” I kept my eyes on the ground, not wanting to challenge him. He seemed surprised by my actions. He stated with a serious tone, “I was going to ask you why you were in my territory, but it would seem that you have already answered that question. So, answer me this, why are you a rogue?” I thought about it for a moment. I was a little unsure about telling this Alpha my life story. I decided to error on the side of caution, the less he knows the better. I wasn’t planning on staying longer than I needed to. “My pack was attacked by rogues a few years ago, and we were separated. I have wandered around ever since.” “Where did all of your pack members end up?” he asked. “I am not completely sure. I think that most of them ended up joining other packs in the surrounding areas.” I responded. “Why didn’t you join another pack?” he inquired. I was starting to wonder why he was asking me so many questions. I sighed and responded, “I tried to join a couple of packs, but no one wanted me. I was a young teenage orphan with strong opinions. I gave up on finding a pack that would take me, and I have spent the last several years wandering around the woods on my own.” I said while fighting back tears. “If you were to join a pack, what position do you think you would hold?” the Alpha inquired. I narrowed my eyes with suspicion. A realization hit me. He was talking like he wanted me to join his pack. “Umm, to be completely honest I have never thought much about it. I guess I would want to be a warrior, I am pretty decent in combat. My father made sure that I knew how to defend myself, and used to make me train with the other warriors of our pack.” I answered him honestly. The Alpha seemed to be considering something before he spoke. “I don’t typically have issues with rogues joining my pack. I do however have a few conditions. I need to know that you can be loyal to me and this pack. The fact that you were in a pack previously is good, but some wolves have a hard time with transitioning back into a pack after being on their own for so long. Do you think that will be an issue for you?” I sit there completely dumbfounded; I didn’t know what to say. He actually wants me to join his pack? “I have wanted nothing more than to be a part of a pack again since my pack was destroyed. I know that it won’t be easy to become part of a pack again since I have been alone for a while, but I do think that I can do it. If you accept me as part of your pack, I won’t let you down.” “From this point on you are to be treated like a member of this pack. You have until the next full moon to get the pack to accept you as a pack member. The more pack members that you can convince that you belong the better. Don’t make me regret my decision.” stated the Alpha. I sat there in silence for a moment while I processed what he had just said. I have two weeks to convince people that I belong here. I think that I can do that. That will be just in time for my 18th birthday, with any luck I can find my mate before they kick me out. “I, I don’t know how to thank you Alpha. You won’t regret this. I can promise you that.” “First, tell me what is your name?” “Allison, Alpha.” “Guard, come here.” A guard that I didn’t know was there stepped forward. “Allison here is to be taken to a guest room and given anything that she needs. From this point on she is to be considered a temporary member of the pack.” “Yes Alpha,” said the guard as he unlocked the cell door. “Alpha,” I say softly at almost a whisper. “I would like to see the pack doctor as soon as possible, if that is okay.” “May I ask why you want to see the doctor?” asked the Alpha. I responded with, “Well, I was attacked by four rogues yesterday evening, and I want to make sure that everything is healing correctly.” I dropped my head as I remembered the events of the previous nights. I could feel that tears were threatening to fall. The Alpha looked at me with concern for some reason before saying, “I will have the pack doctor meet you at your room.” “Thank you, Alpha.” I replied with a slight bow.
