As I was heading up the stairs to my room, I passed an unfamiliar woman. She stopped me to talk for a minute. “Hi there, my name is Stephanie. You must be new around here. Before you go and get any ideas in your head, the Alpha is mine, stay away from him, okay. I am basically his Luna to be.” I had a hard time taking her seriously. She spoke in such a high pitched nasally voice that it reminded me of a small child whining. She obviously had dyed her hair to an unnaturally bleach blonde color and definitely looked like she had some implants.
“Are you saying that you and the Alpha are mates?” I questioned her innocently.
“Well, not exactly, but I am the closest thing to his mate, and no one is going to interfere with that. Everyone around here treats me like the Luna anyways.” she remarked.
“I see, it is such a privilege to meet you then. Since you know so much about the pack maybe you could take me under your wing and teach me how to do things around here.” I said with a hint of sarcasm.
I don’t think that she caught on to the sarcasm, because she responded cheerfully saying, “I am glad that you recognize that you are in the presence of greatness. I can’t guarantee that I will have time to take you under my wing, because I am just so busy around here.”
“I am sorry to hear that. I am going to go take a shower before breakfast, since I probably stink from my workout this morning.” I don’t wait for her to respond. I just turn around and walk to my room.
There were a couple of the pack warriors at breakfast and they greeted me with a cheerful hello. When Sara walked in with Beta Matthew by her side, I almost choked on a mouthful of eggs. “Sara! I didn’t realize that Beta Matthew is your mate!” She just chuckled as she sat down next to me.
“I imagine that there is a lot that we don’t know about each other. It has been six years since I last saw you.” commented Sara. “I hear that I don’t need to introduce you two.” This sparked a conversation about all of our likes and dislikes. Somehow we got on the topic of my future mate and what I would like for him to be like. “I think that he will need to be able to be firm and serious, but still have a spontaneous side to him. He should be the right mixture of silly and serious. That way he can deal with all of my ups and downs.” I say with a smirk.
“Interesting expectations for a mate.” I froze. I knew that voice. Indeed, it was the Alpha.
“Don’t you think that will be near impossible to find?” asked the Alpha.
“Alpha, I didn’t see you there.” I said timidly. “I don’t think that it will be impossible. After all, a mate is supposed to be someone who completes you. At least that’s what I have heard.”
The alpha stared at me confused for a brief moment before asking, “How old are you Allison?”
“I am 17, almost 18, Alpha. Why do you ask?”
“Ah, I see then why you are daydreaming about your future mate. You haven’t lost hope of finding them yet.” He said with sadness in his voice. I made a mental note to ask Sara more about the Alpha.
