There were already people there when we arrived. Sara turned to me and said, “I tried to get you a spot at my table, but it was already full. I do think that I was able to sit you next to Mackenzie and her friends. I hope that is alright.” I smiled, “It’s a bummer that you have to sit at a different table, but I understand. You are the Beta’s mate after all. Thank you for seating me next to Mackenzie.” I gave Sara a hug and went to go find my table.
Each table had little placards with each pack member’s name on it. I was at a table that was relatively close to the front on the right hand corner. Sara’s table was on the stage facing the audience. Her table was reserved for the Alpha, his Beta, and Gamma, and their mates. There was an empty seat next to the Alpha, but that was reserved for his future mate. There was a dance floor towards the back of the room. There were a few wolves playing orchestra style instruments for background music. Once I found my seat I took my glass and went to get some strawberry lemonade at a table with self-serve clear jugs.
People slowly started to trickle in. As people started to sit at my table, I talked with them. At around seven o’clock Alpha Malachi entered the room with everyone who was sitting at his table. Alpha Malachi remained standing as the others sat down. He looked super attractive in his tuxedo. My mind was starting to wander off, and think about what he would look like without any clothes on. I shook the thoughts out of my head as he began speaking. What is wrong with me?
“Nothing is wrong with you. He is super hot, and I would love to run my tongue across his body.” purred Sapphire. She was one horny wolf. I was brought out of my thoughts as Alpha Malachi started talking.
“Welcome everyone,” he waited a few seconds as everyone started to quiet down, “thank you for coming out tonight. I have a few announcements before we have dinner. First I would like to call Allison to the stage.” I took a deep breath in when he called my name. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I stood up and walked nervously towards the stage. “As many of you know, Allison here has been a part of this pack temporarily for a trial period. I told her that she had until tonight to convince as many people here as possible that she should be a part of this pack. Would you please stand if you think that Allison should be officially part of our pack. Keeping in mind that if you stand, you are vouching for her and staking your reputation on her.” I gasped at that last statement. I was sure that there wouldn’t be that many people here that would stand. It only took a few seconds for almost everyone to stand. I almost cried as I looked around the room. Even Beta Matthew and Sara were standing.
The Alpha smiled and said, “Please be seated. Allison as you can see almost everyone here is willing to vouch for you. I ask you now, are you willing to join our pack and show myself and the other leaders with the respect that comes with their titles?” I looked at Alpha Malachi with a weak smile and said, “Yes, I am Alpha.”
“Are you willing to pledge your loyalty and life to protect me and this pack?” he asked.
I said with a little more confidence, “Yes, Alpha.”
“I ask that the elders of the pack step forward.” said Alpha Malachi. There were five older pack members that stepped forward. One of the elders handed the Alpha a cup and a dagger. “By spilling our blood and letting it mix together you will be linked to the pack.” said Alpha Malachi as he took the dagger in one hand and sliced his other hand. He let some of his blood fall into the cup, and then handed me the dagger. I did the same as him, and as my blood fell into the cup I felt a wave of energy wash over me. Cheers broke out, both aloud and in my head. I was now able to mind link with any member of the pack.
Alpha Malachi held up his hand, and everyone quieted down. “Welcome Allison to the Blue Crescent Pack. Normally I would have Allison sit down, but I hear she will be turning 18 tonight at midnight. So, Allison will stay up here for a moment longer. If you turned 18 this month please stand.” Cheers erupted from the crowd. The Alpha waited a moment before lifting his hand for silence again. “Now, those that have already found their mate may sit down. Single pack members, be sure to take note of those who are standing now and be sure to introduce yourself. With any luck, all of you will find your mate here tonight. You may all be seated. Omegas, let’s start serving dinner now.” I went to sit down as he was finishing his speech.
There were a lot of emotions running through my mind. Almost everyone stood up; I still couldn’t believe it. Throughout the night I had several pack members coming up to me and introducing themselves to me. Some were just welcoming me to the pack and some of them were hoping that I would be their mate. As I waited for midnight to come, I decided to make my way out to the dance floor and have some fun with my new friends. After a while, I noticed this strong scent of sandalwood and cinnamon. Something about it seemed familiar. It was heavenly and I needed to know where it was coming from.
I looked around the room and I couldn’t tell where it was coming from. I left the dance floor in search of the source of this scent. It took me back towards my table. It felt like eyes were burning into me, so I looked up. As soon as I made eye contact I just knew. I heard my wolf say mate and jump up and down in my head. When we made eye contact, Alpha Malachi said “Mine” softly. We slowly walked towards each other without breaking eye contact. Once we were closer, we just stood there for a moment breathing heavily. “Mate” Alpha said while embracing me with a hug. I had tears rolling down my cheeks. “Mine.” I said softly.
