Jonah
I walk onto Dantes floor, he’s on a floor in the east tower, one without any windows. He’s got one of the werewolf girls with him, they go from their Academy at 21 into the pack. She’s about to leave the Academy and is one of Dante's regulars.
He won’t drink bagged blood; I don’t like him drinking from Witches. But when he’s in a pinch I give him a glass of my blood. My hand has scars from the cuts I make to feed him. The head teachers know why I have my scars, but they still fear my magic and think I have gone to the dark side.
Yeah I may be toying with the darker side of magic, having a Vampire for a dad doesn’t exactly lead to a normal childhood but they don’t need to just dismiss me as a ‘good witch’ from some scars and the colour of my magic!
My magic does look grey in some lights it’s true, but I haven’t taken the step to actually make it grey. It’s just a very grey coloured blue. Sometimes it shines so blue that no one would ever doubt me, yet they do, even after they’ve seen it do so.
“Dante, we need to talk”
He lifts his head from the wolf girls’ neck that he’s been admiring for his next meal.
“This had better be important kid.”
“Isn’t it always!”
“Hmmm, so?” he carries on with the girl, like some sort of vulture waiting for their next meal.
“I’m not taking Mary-jo to the prom. You’ll Have to find another pawn to use in the deal with her father”
I turn to leave and then he is in front of me his fangs out and dripping with the young girl’s blood. It’s an unholy sight that’s for sure. Why did I end up with this guy! I mean goddess knows what I must of done to deserve this treatment from the universe.
“You must take the girl!” He hisses through his fangs.
“I cannot. Mary-jo is causing trouble already with the original families and we will loose our place here at the school.” I look him dead in the eyes, I know it’s vamp 101 don’t look them in the eyes.
But I’m strong enough to stop his mind invasion, that’s why I’m teaching it. Who better than someone who keeps a vamp out their head on a daily basis!
He looks at me with contempt, oh yeah Dante I know, the bane of your life, blah blah blah.
“What do you mean, loose our place? It is you who needs the place.” He raises his eyebrow in challenge.
“I was finding a reason to stay, with this deal. So don’t mess it up.” He answers back like I spoke.
“Mary-jo is causing problems, tell her father that unless, he can real her in, so she isn’t causing problems with the original Witches then the deal is off!” My hands are shaking I’m so angry, a reason to stay! Seriously....he could leave and I could still teach the class.... Maybe.
“You do not make the rules here boy, remember your place!” He hisses at me. A shiver of fear goes down my spine, but I hold my ground.
A groan comes from the bed that the wolf girl is on. I look at her.
“You might want to deal with that Dante before the Alpha finds out another one of his pack keeps going missing.”
That gets another raised eyebrow from him. I’m pushing his buttons I know I am, but I’m too far gone to care!
I didn’t expect to like Kasy at all! It’s messed everything up. With one smile from her.
I rub my hand over my face, I don’t know which road to take. The path I’ve been on for years, or the path to redemption.
The wolf girl moans again and Dante moves so quick I can’t follow him. He pulls the girl up and takes her to the door, his eyes dilate as he starts the compulsion.
The girl has lost so much blood her wolf must be howling inside, usually wolfs are hard to mind control due to the wolf living inside them. The wolf can stop the mind control if it’s a seasoned wolf, that’s why Dante has to feed on the young wolfs. In a few years the wolf will be to cunning to fall for Dante’s tricks.
“You came to drop books off for Jonah, he had ordered them from the wolf library, you dropped them off and left to go back to the wolf compound and drink some orange juice.” The girl nods her head and like some robot leaves the room and heads out.
She will do exactly as he said until the compulsion wears off. But her memory of anything that happened here will be of just dropping the books off. She won’t remember being in the room or anything.
“The Alpha is going to find out, you know that and so do I. What will you do when he does?”
He stares at me, “My plan will be in motion long before than brute finds out, don’t you worry. As long as everyone sticks to the plan!”
“And what if I can’t?”
“Then you’ll be on your own kid. I didn’t keep you around this long to be of no use to me!” He hisses at me. “Remember who took you in and fed you whilst your kind turned their backs on you!”
His words cut like a knife, yes, he kept me alive. But for this reason and this reason alone. Never trust a Vampire they always have their own game to play and we’re all just mice that they toy with.
I turn to leave and he grabs my hand, his strength is just unbeatable. I may be able to keep him out my mind. But he could squish me like a bug so easily.
“Play your part, like a good little soldier and you will be rewarded.”
I nod, there’s no getting out of this one, unless it’s 6ft under in a box. That’s made perfectly clear.
Time to go console Mary-jo then. I don’t have another choice but do as he says.
