Elena made up her mind to go too Williams office, gritting her teeth to suppress the pain she stepped towards the front door. The door was swung open. When she saw the man at the door her eyes suddenly glinted. And there, standing before her, was Williams, his expression unreadable as he met her gaze. For a moment, Elena's heart soared with relief, her fears momentarily forgotten in the presence of the man she loved.Williams! She hurriedly stepped forward with excitement.“Wills listen There’s something you must know.” But as she opened her mouth to speak, to tell him the truth that had been gnawing at her soul, Williams silenced her with a curt gesture, his eyes cold and distant. As Elena looked into Williams' eyes, she saw something she had never seen before - a darkness that seemed to consume him from within. “What’s going on?”Elena asked when she noticed how bone chilling frigid he looked. He stepped into the house, sat down and stared at Elena. His gaze cold as he said “Anna was out driving this night, she hit someone by accident and ran.” As Williams' words echoed in her ears, Elena felt a wave of confusion wash over her, her thoughts consumed with a lot of things. “If she killed someone in a hit- and - run, then she should report herself to the authorities! What does it have to do with—” As the words sunk in, Elena felt her world shatter around her, the gravity of the situation hitting her like a ton of bricks. Anna, his mistress, had been involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident, and he wanted her to ……… She felt a lump in her throat. Disbelief dawned on her as she stared at him. His words came out live venom. “Take the blame for her crime” “How could you ask me to do such a thing?" Elena demanded, her voice trembling with indignation. Why? Why should I be the one to be in jail for her sake? To suffer in her place? But Williams remained unmoved, his resolve unshaken by her protests. “Elena Kent, you have always wanted to be Anna for years!” You took her place to be my wife right? You have gotten what you’ve been looking for years now, the vehicle she was driving was licensed in your name. She was driving the car grandpa gave you as wedding gift. So everyone will think it was you anyway, after all Anna hasn’t left the hospital. He said smirking. But you know we are not the same person so tell the world, Elena pleaded on her kneels. Elena's heart raced as she stood before Williams, her hands trembling. She knew that what she was about to say would change everything, but she couldn't keep the truth bottled up inside any longer. This was her only way out of this ordeal. With a deep breath, she summoned the courage to speak. “Williams Anna has been pretending all along, I have been the one who loved you from the beginning!” Three years ago in that crash! In that crash I was the one who saved you from the car, Williams it’s me not Anna. She expected Williams to be shocked, after the revelation, yet to her surprise, he was just staring at her as if waiting for her to make a fool of herself. "I already know, Elena," he said, his tone clipped and dismissive. "Anna told me everything." “What? What did she say to you ? Everything Anna has said to you are all lies, please believe me”. Elena, you are disgusting. Anna was right all along. You found out about the rescue from the crash three years ago, and you try to pretend that was you right? You are so shameless Elena! God how did I even allow my grandpa convince me to marry you? What are you saying Williams? I swear to you I’m not lying at all, please believe me! Believe you ? Then prove it Elena! If really you’re the one who saved me 3 years ago, why haven’t you said anything for so long? Tell me why? Elena burst into tears. You didn’t know how much I have tried to tell you over the years, you just wouldn’t listen to me. Since we got married you have never been to this house for the past three years. Williams, I was the one who saved you from the crash," she declared, her words ringing with conviction. "Anna may have told you otherwise, but the truth is that I was there that day, and I risked everything to pull you from the wreckage." Each time we met at grandfather’s house and I try to talk to you, you simply ignored me or ask me to shut up! I have heard enough, Report yourself to the authorities, and I will make sure you’re out before you know it. You will get a few years maybe and I’ll make sure to compensate you for it. Elena broke into laughter, her voice rough from crying. Really Williams, just a few years? You must be insane to think you can make me do Anna’s time. She killed someone Williams! Not an animal, she must pay for her crime. She wanted to scream, to lash out at Williams for believing Anna's lies over her own truth. But deep down, she knew that her anger was directed not just at him, but at herself for allowing herself to belief that he would believe her instead. I will never go to jail, for a crime I didn’t commit, never! Williams held her neck, his fingers tightened around her throat, chocking her with some much force. Elena struggled to catch her breath, panic rising within her like a tidal wave. She could feel the heat of his anger radiating off him in waves, his eyes blazing with a ferocity that made her tremble. . "You think you can defy me and get away with it? Think again." "I won't do it," she declared, her voice shaking but defiant. "I won't take the fall for Anna's crimes, no matter what you say." Just do it, kill me now! For a moment, there was silence, the tension in the air thick and suffocating. And then, with a menacing glint in his eyes, Williams spoke, his voice dripping with malice. "Suit yourself, Elena," he sneered. "But remember, you brought this on yourself." As Williams turned to leave, Elena felt a surge of panic well up inside her. She knew it wasn’t over yet. I hope you still love your grandmother?
