Chapter 6 The confrontation

Elena’s eyes widened in disbelief, All this time she thought that Williams had simply forgotten the promise he made to her when she rescued him from the accident scene.

She had even thought he realized that he had fallen in love with Anna after all. But the truth was she had stolen Elena rightful place for her!

The shock made her mind go blank.She had been nothing more than a pawn in Anna's twisted game, a convenient stand-in for the woman who had captured Williams' heart.

But as she attempted to sneak away unnoticed, fate intervened. In her haste, Elena stumbled and crashed into the railing behind her, the sound echoing through the corridor like a thunderclap. Anna's voice faltered mid-sentence, and Elena's heart sank as she realized she had been discovered.

With adrenaline coursing through her veins, Elena turned and fled, her footsteps echoing in the empty hallway.

Panic surged within her, but she pushed it aside, focusing solely on escape. Anna's words lingered in her mind, a damning testament to the depths of her deceit.

Once safely out of Anna's sight, Elena allowed herself a moment to catch her breath.

Anna knew someone had been listening, she was sure of it. With a sense of urgency, she summoned the nurse, her voice tight with apprehension.

“Is there anyone else in my ward?" Anna demanded, her eyes narrowed with suspicion.

The nurse shook her head, confusion evident in her expression. "No, Miss Anna. You're the only patient here."

But Anna was not convinced. With a determination bordering on desperation, she marched towards the hospital's security office, her mind racing with the possibilities.

As Anna reviewed the footage from the hospital's security cameras, her worst fears were confirmed. There, clear as day, was Elena, lurking in the shadows of her ward, a silent witness to her secrets.

Shock rippled through Anna's body as she watched the scene unfold before her eyes. How had Elena discovered her plot?

As Anna processed the implications of Elena's discovery, a cold fury burned within her.

She had worked too hard, sacrificed too much, to allow her carefully constructed facade to crumble now.

Anna made her way towards Elena's house with a sense of purpose burning within her. She knew that Elena would be eager to share what she had discovered.

So the best place to look for Elena would be in the house she shared with Williams.

As Anna entered the dimly lit house, the tension crackled in the air like electricity. Elena stood frozen in shock, her eyes wide with disbelief at the sight of her unexpected visitor.

She wasn’t expecting to see Anna at all but Williams since she had called earlier he didn’t pick up, so she sent a message to him and was waiting to see if he would come over.

Before Elena could gather her wits, Anna wasted no time in confronting her, her voice cold and calculated. "What did you hear when I was making that call?" she demanded, her eyes boring into Elena's.

Caught off guard, Elena stumbled over her words, her mind racing to come up with a plausible excuse.

But Anna's piercing gaze left no room for deception, and Elena knew that she could not hide the truth.

In a moment of desperation, Elena admitted to Anna that she had heard everything and intended to tell Williams the truth. But Anna's response was swift and merciless.

“You're insane if you think Williams will believe you," Anna spat, her voice dripping with contempt.

Enraged by Anna's dismissive attitude, Elena stood her ground, refusing to back down. "I don't care what you think. I will tell him the truth," she declared, her voice trembling with defiance.

But before Elena could react, Anna lashed out, pushing her with unexpected force. Elena stumbled backwards, her head connecting with the wall with a sickening thud. Darkness enveloped her, and as she slipped into unconsciousness.

As Anna watched Elena crumple to the ground, shock and fear flooded her veins. With trembling hands, she fled the scene.

“Elena fainted, lying lifeless on the ground”. When she woke up a while later, her head was throbbing. She had a serious headache.

As Elena's consciousness slowly returned, she found herself engulfed in darkness, her head throbbing with pain.

Blinking away the haze of unconsciousness, she struggled to make sense of her surroundings. Memories of Anna's confrontation flooded back, and with them, a surge of anger and determination.

Pushing herself upright, Elena winced as pain flared in her head, a harsh reminder of Anna's betrayal. But amidst the ache, She had uncovered the truth, the undeniable proof that she was the one Williams loved.

Gritting her teeth to suppress her pain, she went into the kitchen to look for the the first aid box to relieve the pain from her head first.

She sat down on the kitchen counter, she was so happy that she started laughing loudly. For so long she had waited for the this day, she believed that if Williams finds out the truth he will love her.

She had always been the one Williams loved. The only reason he was acting this way was because he was being fooled.

Rising to her feet, she made her way upstairs, the weight of her decision heavy.

She needed to put a call to Williams once again with the hope that he will pick up this time. She tried severally, sent so many text he still didn’t reply?

She can’t go to his office especially not after the divorce agreement. So she called his assistant Stewart, he picked at first ring. When she asked about Williams, he simply dismissed her that he was busy.
