Taming the Arrogant Witch

Vampire

I was tired so I fell asleep after some time and I knew he did not do anything else except hugged me tightly to sleep. Jessica was perfectly fine the next morning and was ready to go back she hugged me "Thank you for saving me."

I smiled at her and hugged her again "I am happy that you are fine." then I hugged all my other friends goodbye.

The black family bid their farewells and everyone started their journey down which could be completed in one day. James put a hand on my shoulder and said "They will wait for us home, we will leave tomorrow because if we leave with them some other of your friends will be injured."

I nodded as tears welled up in my eyes. It was a beautiful morning, I sat down on a rock nearby and James sat besides me, holding my hand he looked into my eyes "Promise me you won't hate me after this."

I put my other hand on the one that was holding mine "I can never hate you even if I want to."

He smiled and started with telling his story.

James hesitated for some time as I waited patiently besides him to know the truth, he looked into my eyes innocently and started speaking "I am a Vampire."

He was shocked at my reaction because he had expected that I would be scared but I just nodded and waited for him to complete "You are not shocked."

I smileed and looked into his eyes "If I know about Cameron then it is obvious I know about vampires."

He was taken aback "How do you know so much, who are you."

I took in a deep breath "I am a witch and for now I can only tell you this."

He stammered as he tried to gain what I said "Witch"

"Yes that is the reason I know him and he wants to be with me since past 50 years but you don't need to know what happened for now and if you want don't tell me about your story too."

He smiled and though it was just a simple smile it set my heart on fire, my cheeks grew hot so I quickly turned my gaze "I want to tell you about my past because I trust you and moreover I have fallen for you so if you are ready to listen, I will say it."

"I am ready to listen to you but I am warning you don't fall for me, it is dangerous."

Even before I finished my sentence in the block of an eye he covered all the distance between us and stood so close to me that there was no place even for the air to pass, my breathing fastened along with my heartbeat, he lifted my chin "I am not scared."

I tried to push him but he held my hand "Trust me."

Tears rolled my eyes as the images of Ethan crossed my mind "Sorry James, I have a lot on my mind please give me some time."

He stepped back like a gentleman as I fought back my tears and smiled "So tell me about your past and how old are you."

He took in a deep breath "I have been living for 250 years, what about you."

I smiled "Though we live longer than humans but we do get older I have been living for 150 years and Cameron waited for me to grow up for 50 years." I stopped as my eyes filled with tears then fought my tears back and looked at him "Sorry, I got carried away, you tell me how do you know him."

He paused to give me some time to get myself together, he sat too close to me but I did not find that uncomfortable rather his presence felt calm to my nerves, the silence felt peaceful and I felt that I was in a totally different world.

When I was calm he begin to speak "I met him 200 years back when he was very young, we used to be good friends and he was quite caring and loving. As there are good witches and wizards and bad witches and wizards the same way we have good vampires and bad vampires. I was a human back then, a doctor so I never knew that he was a wizard. One day we went fishing and there were vampires who wanted to rule but they did not have any leader.  They randomly killed families in the evening but we used to think it was all a made up story to scare people so everyone gets home on time.

We went to his house late that night and the lights were out and silence spread all across the place. We went inside quietly, I was more scared so I hid in the corner and he bravely moved further, seeing his family lying on the floor covered in blood, he froze.

A vampire spotted him and bit his neck, his eyes turned red and he snapped his fingers crushing the vampires head. Nobody knew what happened but that was the moment he changed, he changed into a cold heartless monster."

His voice teared apart at this moment as he tried to contain himself but as a vampire he could not cry. Unintentionally my hand went to his shoulder trying to give him some comfort. He then looked into my eyes "I could not find out how he killed that vampire but all other vampires were definitely scared to death."

A shiver ran down my spine as I spoke the most terrifying thing only he could do in the magic word "It is the death charm, the most terrifying magic in our world only he can perform, he was born with it and only something evil could initiate the power within him and I guess that bite made that happen."

He was silent as he proceeded my words "Most likely"

I nodded "Then what happened?

"He was terrified himself at what he did but all the vampires bowed in front of him and apologized as they said you have killed our leader so you have to lead us because you are the most powerful person to have killed a vampire."

"He agreed"

"No, he didn't instead he stood there scared trying to find me for help as the vampires still bowed in front of him. He asked them to leave and that was when I came out of hiding a little less scared than him and he spoke in a very scared tone I didn't do it, I don't know how that happened. I comforted him placing my hands on his shoulders Don't worry it is not your fault, you did the right thing and killed the wrong guy.

After he was relaxed I took him to my place and told my parents everything except the part that he is a wizard and he killed a vampire. We took him in and for a few months we lived happily until the vampires came back to him, he was strong enough by then to face them. I didn't have any idea until that day that he really wanted to rule the world. He took them to a room and I overheard his conversation as he told them that the vampires will follow him and help him to rule the world, he had been practicing and making his magic stronger all the months he lived with us.

He came out and told my parents everything he said that because they had fed him he would kill them in one go without torturing them, he wanted to finish all the weak and helpless humans. My parents asked me to go away so I ran away as far as I could get, I ran into a forest but he was too fast and caught me he initially wanted to kill me and went away when he thought I was dead. At that time Lukas was out in the forest, he spotted me lying on the ground on the edge of dying but he wanted to save me so he turned me into a vampire. I have been living a meaningless life since then."

I was confused as I tried to find the answer to my question but then I had to ask "James you said you had to protect me, how did you know about me?"

"A person visited us a few days back he told us that Cameron wanted to have you and he would be invincible and we have to protect you. At first I thought that it was troublesome as Lukas accepted to protect you because it would be the most terrifying thing if he was unbeatable but now I feel different and I feel that you have added meaning to my useless smile."

My heart starts beating faster and a smile creeps onto my face but I suppress it "When I was born he knew that I could make him invincible and besides him only I have the power to perform death charm, he wanted to have me so he killed my parents and took me away but I was save by the heads of magic and they protected me until I grew then a lot happened and I broke all the contacts with magic world and began living as a normal human."
