On Friday, we have another meeting with Specs in the office. He once again conveys how angry the upper-level management of the newspaper is with our performance. They do not believe that we are doing enough.
“Where the hell are the old newshounds of years gone by?”
Why do I feel that he is looking directly at me?
Yes, I’m one of the older reporters that have been around for a while, but I still bring in good stories from time to time, and he knows it. Also, I am one of the few reporters that have won awards for outstanding reporting for the Arizona Republic. Still, he looks directly at me, expecting me to say something. I don’t say a word. I’m as frustrated as everyone else is with the church story.
