She’s Gone!!

Damien’s POV Damien Inzaghi, the infamous, billionaire CEO. Always associated with the term mysterious. No one knew the source of his wealth, but he was filthy rich. The reason is because, he isn't human. He is an Alpha to his werewolf kingdom. And alpha's inherit riches beyond humans knowledge. ********* I was well above the age of eighteen, but for years I've searched and longed for my mate, but to no avail. How could I truly claim the title of an Alpha to my pack without my Luna. But last night at the gathering, just as my Beta, Luca had promised, I felt it. I felt the connection just as Natasha stepped in. She was mate and there was no doubt about it. I knew she was mine to claim and no one else. But now… There is a small issue, tiny issue, she was human. “Sir.” A guard stepped into my throne room, his arms crossed behind his back, his posture firm. “Beta Luca is here for you.” he said. “Let him in.” I answered, leaning back to my seat. The guard stepped out, and soon Luca stepped in. “Luca! Welcome!” I yelled out, my voice tinged joy. Why not, after all it was Luca who made meeting my mate possible. “Good morning Alpha.” he greeted, his voice sharp. “I've been meaning to thank you about yesterday.” “No problem, but sir…” “If I may ask? You said you saw here working at a bar” I cut him off before he could finish. “Yes. As your Beta I felt some sort of mild connection to her. I knew she had to be your mate.” Luca responded. “Did you by any chance know she was human!” My voice went cold, the smile on my face disappeared. He exhaled sharply. “Yes.” “And you didn't see it wise to tell me before inviting her to a werewolf mating ceremony.” I snapped at him. “I know and I'm sorry. I just…” “You forced my hand to kidnap her, and bring her here.” I watched Luca’s eyes cracked wide open in shock. “What? Is she okay?” “She's fine. But how could you care about that! We have bigger issues!” “The elders are coming.” Luca stiffened, his sharp eyes narrowing as he turned to face me fully. “When?” “Anytime now. They want to be here before the mating ceremony begins.” I exhaled slowly. “They want to meet her.” Silence stretched between us. Luca shifted his weight, arms crossing over his broad chest. “And how do you think that’s going to go?” I didn’t answer right away. The truth was, I didn’t know. My mate was human—fragile compared to us, different in ways the elders would scrutinize. “I’ll make them see reason,” I finally said, though the certainty I projected was only half real. “She’s mine. That’s all that should matter.” Luca let out a slow breath, his jaw tight. “You and I both know that’s not how they think.” He wasn’t wrong. The elders clung to the old ways, where mates were chosen for power, for alliance, for the survival of the pack. A human mate? That wasn’t just unexpected, it was unheard of. “They’ll respect my claim,” I said, my voice quieter now, more dangerous. “Or they’ll learn what happens when they don’t.” Luca studied me for a moment, then nodded. “Then we’d better make sure she’s ready.” “I'll check on her.” Luca said. He then turned away and walked out of the throne room leaving me to my thoughts. I had to make reason for the elders to accept Elena as she is. Even if I have to force their hands. I swore my pack a Luna, and they will get one, be it human or werewolf. I walked back to my seat. Now I had to wait. Minutes went by, soon turned into hours and then… I heard their loud steps before I even saw them. And then two figures emerged from the shadows, cloaked in dark robes, their sharp, aged eyes assessing the room and then finally on me. “Damien,” Elder Garrick greeted, his tone void of warmth. The man was built like an ancient tree, gnarled with experience but still standing tall. “It’s been some time.” “Not long enough,” I muttered under my breath, but I inclined my head in forced respect. “Elder Garrick. Elder Tomas.” Elder Tomas, the most senior of all of them and most respected as well. “We’ve come as requested. We heard the news” His gaze swept past me toward the packhouse. “Take us to the girl.” My jaw clenched at the dismissive way he spoke of my mate. “She’s my mate,” I corrected, voice firm. “And you’ll show her the respect she’s due.” Garrick chuckled, though there was no amusement in it. “We’ll see if she’s earned it.” Every instinct in me snarled at their arrogance, but I turned on my heel and led them to her room. Arguing with them would be fatal. The halls were quiet, as they were by this hour of the day. We reached her door, and I pushed it open without knocking. The room was empty. What? She's gone!! “Where is she?!!” I roared out in anger. The bed was still made, and not to rumbled. I could still perceive her scent, but she was gone. How? How could she? I turned slowly to face the elders. Tomas looked unimpressed, Garrick smug. “This is how you protect your mate?” Garrick mused, shaking his head. “Tell me, Alpha, how do you expect us to trust your leadership when you can’t even keep hold of a single human?” I didn't let his words sink to my brain before I stepped out of the room. “Guards!!!.. Luca!!” I roared out. My mate was gone and someone was going to pay for this.
