Esmeralda POV
“I'm so sorry my loves to cause you so much pain!” I kiss them both passionately as I rise to greet an old friend.
“Hello Death” I say
Death quickly glides over from the other side of the room to me. I can sense Xavier and Amelia want to move but I motion them to stay!
“Please don't interfere” I mind link
“Esmeralda my sweets” death raspy voice echoes and smoke engulfs the room
“I see know why you couldn’t take me death! I thank you for never giving in to my pleas! I understand now!” Turning and smiling at Xavier and Amelia, I turn back to Death, "For true love it was worth it!”
“The pain wasn’t....” Death hisses
I go to reach for his hand, but he pulls away, “Don’t touch me sweets, you don’t know what happens when you touch me!” He hisses
“Actually, I do know” I respond and quickly grab his hand
I scream in pain and collapse on the floor! Xavier and Amelia run over to me! Releasing my grip on death’s hand!
“I told you not to intervene” I growl
Death becomes furious! As smoke swirls around us and he shifts to the other end of the room!
“I didn’t curse myself for you to touch me and feel your pain you...you...”
“Say it...” I yell at him
Death lets out a loud scream as smoke engulfs the room! “Why do you infuriate me sweets!?” he said!
“I know why you didn’t take me that night! BUT, You said you didn’t know I would suffer so! What are you keeping from me!? Why did you keep coming back!?” I get up and walk calmly over to death! “I know you are the connection to my mind! I’m not afraid of you! You don’t scare me! If anything you are my savior! So what are you not telling me!? Please I need to know!”
“...I... can’t...” Death hisses and stops
My wolf growls “he still won’t tell us! Do it” she yells! I grab his hand again this time with both hands so he can’t pull away so easily!
“Tell me,” I yell in pain as the memories of that week come flooding back! All the whips, the burns, and the scares start to form on my body!
Xavier and Amelia grab me!
Xavier rips my hand out of deaths.
“I told you not to intervene,” I yell
“f**k your orders” Xavier yells furious! “I am the Alpha and I'll be damned if I'll let you order me around while you injury yourself!”
“Enough!... I can’t have you relive that pain!” Death yells!
“Then tell me death.”
“ALRIGHT!” He says letting out a sigh, “I made a beat with another God! If he won, you fate was controlled by him and I couldn't intervene! I was tricked and he won! I had to watch as he took the only thing I ever created and slowly destroyed...”
“Only thing you ever created...” I interrupt
Death sighs... “I was blessed by a goddess that once a decade instead of being the creator of death, I become the creator of life for one person, and one person only! That way both I, and the creator of life, know each other’s true purpose in life!” Death looks up at me! “You are my creation!”
“What about the curse?” I ask
“It was the same goddess that blessed me that also cursed me!” Death continues “When I found out I was tricked I was furious! When I saw you suffering so horribly I went to Goddess and beg her to give me your pain! She said the only way she could take me pain, was to curse me. If you touched me your pain would come back! And if you touched me to much it would permanently kill you.” Death looks down at my hand.
I look as see my hand is covered in burn marks and blood!
Death continues, “And if you are permanently killed…” He looks away from me and out the window, before continuing, “…Then you could never live in the after world! With anyone! You would be forever alone!”
“I'm sorry savior,” I say as Xavier pulls me in tighter and Amelia tightens her hold on my arm!
“So please stop touching me!” He hisses
“I promise you Death that she will never touch you again!” Xavier announces
“Thank you” Death raspy voice soothes!
“Death,” I say sweetly, “but what about these visions, these dreams, at first they led me to my rose but now... I'm not sure what’s going on!”
“The goddess saw what happened and felt horrible! She heard of the trickery! She told me she would bless you with love!” He looks at Amelia and Xavier… “I would say that she has!”
He looks back at me! “When your blessed or curse you gain some of their powers! You my sweets have some of her powers!”
“Why must you suffer with my pain while I'm blessed with powers!? What are these powers!?”
“You will have to find that out for yourself!”
“Who was the goddess then!”
Death turns away!
“Tell me” I say touching his cloak! Death tries to pull away but I feel no pain so I don’t let him!
I smirk as Xavier grabs me, but I somehow get out of his grip! I hear his wolf growl in rage!
“It’s okay!” I quickly blurted out “I remember when you had to leave, and I would reach for you to stay, if I grab your cloak I didn’t feel the pain!” I smile up at Death
Death pulls out a knife, Xavier pulls me off death and puts me behind him! Amelia grabs me from behind. I hear Xavier growl some more! We watch as Death cuts off part of his cloak!
Black smoke swirls around the piece of cloth! Suddenly a beautiful black and silver cloak appears where the smoke once was.
“Come my sweets…” Death says sweetly.
I step away from Xavier and Amelia as the cloak is draped over my shoulders!
“To protect you from pain whenever you shall need it!! I may be cursed to never touch you again! But I shall always protect you”. The cloak connected in front with a diamond skull as I felt some pain leave!!
“Oh death” I twirled in it. I look at the robe and look up to see death stand in front of Xavier and Amelia.
“Give me your left hands” he says
Xavier and Amelia both place their hands in his. Death covers their hands with his other hand! Dark smoke surrounds their hands.
I hear Amelia let out a small scream of pain, as Xavier grits his teeth!
I run over to them and grab death cloaks as he lifts his hands away!
“Proof that even after death you 3 will always be together!” Death says as he moves away!
I grab Xavier and Amelia’s’ hands.
I see a rose thorn grow around Amelia ring finger, the thorns dig into her skin, causing some blood to run down her hand! When the rose grows in a full circle, it turns into a beautiful rose gold ring with skulls and diamonds encrusted throughout. I kiss her hand gently, pulling myself into her, kissing her on the lips!
Suddenly Xavier finger begins to burn as fire forms around his hand. I release my grip from Amelia and Xavier’s hands. Amelia and I both grab Xavier arm, the flames turn blue and start to burn his skin.
Xavier lets out a small scream.
“Xavier” I hear myself cry out!
Suddenly the flames turn into a ring of fire around his finger. As the fire dies down, a skull forms from the ring of ashes, turning into a gun metal ring.
“There may be horrors in this world, but you will never have to worry about being loved! The goddess that blessed you, my sweets, was the goddess of love!”
I threw myself into Xavier arms and pull Amelia in with me!
“One more thing though, your power will be stronger the more your mates are around! They'll help you the most, as you learn about your power! Farewell my sweets!”
Death snaps his fingers as the smoke swirls around him. Within seconds the smoke disappears out the balcony and the balcony door slams close.
