A week had passed since Jake had left for his new mission. Even though he texted and called often, Stephanie still felt hurt. She had known when he walked into her room that day that when he left, he would be gone for a while. Dru had commanded him, and that was that. Stephanie decided she needed the space anyways to come to terms with being Jake’s mate.
Time had given her all the perspective she needed. Whatever being a mate entailed, she was more than ready to fill the roll. She missed Jake more than she ever thought possible.
