She pushed the car faster and faster out the windy road. The black Sedan behind her pushed harder as well. Her instincts told her it was him, but she kept praying she was wrong. The one time she had been out to Cecil’s she hadn’t paid much attention to the turns Jake had made. The gas tank on her stolen vehicle was full, so she knew if she could just keep the wheels moving it would buy her time.
The road forked ahead, and she tried to quickly decide which way to go. If she slowed down at all she was afraid he would try to wreck her. Her gut said to turn right so she did. Cecil was older, but he was still a shifter, and Jake’s mentor. If Jake had caught on to her trail yet, hopefully he would realize where she would go.
