Chapter 24: A private belonging leaves behind the trees

Harlyn seemed to be shocked by her apology, because he never thought Aurora would say sorry to him at all. His eyes were full of confusion yet turned to ice the next second. He glanced at Aurora and said in a frigid tone, “Is that important now? If you only wanted to say that to me, I can only say it is not necessary. I’ve got to go now.” his attitude was still indifferent. Aurora was anxious as she saw Harlyn was ready to leave again. “Harlyn! Why are so indifferent to me? I’m your elder sister! Can you not forgive me?” she shouted sadly to him. “My elder sister? Do you think you are qualified to be?” his icy eyes seemed to containe other emotions, saying, “Don’t say that word again. We are unrelated strangers only!” then he walked off. Aurora was about to say something, but his words really hurt her and made her pause. Finally, she lost her courage to catch up with him. “It is true. I’m not his real elder sister and we have different fathers.” Aurora thought. Every time she was reminded of her ‘father’ and his angry and cold-blooded face, she felt very desperate. Even now, that face was very impressive to her. However, Harlyn still couldn’t say they were unrelated at all. They grew up and played together from since they were young. Even if she was not her father’s child, they also had the same mother. At that moment, the bell rang suddenly. “I will be late again!” Aurora felt very depressed. She could only walk slowly to her classroom. The first lesson was English today, and the teacher Elysia Morris was a woman more than thirty who was very snobbish. So when she found Aurora was late again, she was very angry. “Aurora Foster! You are late again! I just wonder how a bastard like you how can gain this chance to get in our school? Don’t you think you should feel grateful to the school? Why are you always late for class?” her voice was very loud. Then she continued mocking, “Do you think you are still a rich girl who can spend money lavishly and break the rules willfully? Wake up! Be thankful to the school now! What a shame that you knew nothing about your real father, but only inherit dissoluteness from your mother and nothing else!” She said the word in one breath and her tone was full of hatred. However, students in the class just laughed at Aurora. “What a brass neck she has! Not only she doesn’t inherit the beauty from her mother, but inherit dissoluteness.” some said. “I think her father is more unfortunate. He brings her up for many years but finds out she is not his real daughter. How poor he is!” some laughed. They all mocked her. Their comments were malicious to Aurora. Aurora was feeling depressed because of Harlyn just then, but now she became angrier as she heard those words. Biting her lips, she gazed at Elysia Morris and said, “Ms. Morris, even if I made a mistake, don’t you think the way you’re blaming me is not quite correct? Especially when you are a teacher.” Pausing for a second, she added, “Oh yes, let's leave aside the topic about my mother now, do you think your behavior is proper enough? Are you sure that you haven’t done something immoral? Such as leaving some private belongings in the midst of the trees?”
