chapter 16: Answers

[Alex pov]

    I hear loud growls and sit straight up out of my sleep. Getting out of bed and running out the front door I watch my brother's wolf attacking Jase. I started to panic and scream as loud as I could. They both stopped immediately and looked at me. I feel like I can't breathe, black dots cloud my vision. They start to head towards me and I watch Bay shift back. That's all I see before blackness takes over.

[Jase pov]

    Bay’s attacking me, and I'm blocking the best I can without being torn to shreds or hurting him. I promised her no harm would come to her loved ones and this changes nothing. A loud scream rips through the air and we both stop and whip our heads over to see a panicking Alexandria. I immediately start walking towards her as she stares at us.

    She starts to fall, and I run catching her before her head could connect with the ground. “F*ck! Princess,wake up!” I hold her close, rocking her back and forth.  

    “Get your F***ing hands off of her, you monster!” her brother screamed at me. 

    “Listen here, and listen closely. I'm only going to say it once. I promised her no harm would come to those she loves and that’s the only reason you’re not dead right now, but touch me again and I won't hesitate to snap your neck. Try to keep me away from what's MINE again and you won’t live to see another day'' I said calmly, as I picked her up and carried her inside. 

    I laid her on her bed, covering her up. headed to the kitchen to get her a glass of water when she woke up, and a chair from the kitchen table. He hadn’t said another word as I walked back into her room, setting the glass on the nightstand and pulling the chair up next to her. I sat down and watched her lay there.

    Lucian and his son are the only ones who know of my involvement. They did this. I lean down and plant a kiss on her forehead. “I’m so sorry princess. I should have told you before someone else could.” 

[Alex pov]

    “I’m so sorry princess. I should have told you before someone else could” I heard him say, but couldn't move or respond. “Calm down Alex. You passed out from hyperventilating. Everything will be okay.” Stella soothed 

    “Why can I hear him but can't move or talk? “

    “Because you're starting to wake up, don’t blame him. He didn’t know who we were or he wouldn't have done it”

    “What?”

    She didn't respond. Ugh. I slowly try to open my eyes, my bedroom coming to view, with the lights off and Jase sitting next to me. He held his face in his hands, he was crying silently, but I could still hear him. Instinctively I reached out and put my hand on his leg. He looked up at me and wiped his tears quickly. “I'm sorry princess, you just had me worried there for a second.”

    He chuckled nervously, as he ran his hands through his hair. I pulled my hand away.

    “Why didn't you tell me?” I whispered.

    “I didn’t realize at first, but once I did, I knew you would hate me.” tears threatening to spill from my eyes once again, he grabbed my hand. “Your brothers right, I’m a monster. I enjoy the things I do, it’s who I am.”

    “This is not about who you are! You’re a vampire! A heartless monster. I knew that. I don’t blame you for doing it for f*cks sake! You didn’t even know I existed and I was just a baby at the time!”

    I yelled at him with tears streaming down my face.  I’m so upset. “Did my father die by your hands?” he shook his head no. “Then the only problem we have is that you didn’t tell me you were involved when we talked about it before.”  By the time I was done talking, I was sitting up with my legs hanging off of the bed. He had his head in my lap, silently crying with his arms wrapped around my waist, resting his hands behind me. 

    “Alexandria, I've never felt this way in my lifetime. You bring a warmth into my heart and it scared the s**t out of me. I’ve never feared anything before, but the thought of losing you undoes me.. Please don’t leave me, Princess.“ He lifts his head up and looks at me. I start to lean in and he follows until our lips meet in a quick but sweet kiss.

    “I’m not leaving you, please just promise to tell me everything from now on.” He got up and sat next to me on the bed. “I promise baby”. 

    We laid next to each other for a little while before there was a knock on my door. I said, “Come in!” before sitting up at the sight of a man I’ve never seen before. 

    “Hey, I'm Cameron, your uncle” he chuckled nervously. “Nice to finally meet you”

    I examined the man in my doorway. He had to slouch in order to fit in the house, this man is ridiculously tall, he had short black hair and the same eyes as me, the only difference was the freckles peppering his cheeks. He suddenly spoke up “how ‘bout i give you guys a minute then we head outside to start some training?” I nod and turn to jase after the door shut. I just met my uncle, who I didn't even know I had until last night. I just learned Jase was involved with over throwing the pack, and Lucian knows we’re alive and where we’re at. It would be a lie if I said I wasn't freaking out inside. As if he could read my thoughts, Jase wrapped his arms around me from behind and whispered “everything will be alright princess.” leaning down and trailing kissing on my neck. A little moan escapes as he quickly gets up and moves across the room. I look at him with a pout and he chuckles “change into your training clothes and meet us outside”

    Ugh! He frustrates the hell out of me!
