Chapter 10

"How many times will you disobey me, Shira?" Meir shouted at me after he found out that I did not go down the mountain immediately and almost reached the landslide. "And you, Jelah!" He pointed to my sister. "Isn't it your responsibility to stop Shira from doing dangerous things because you know that she is troublesome?"   Well, it's really my fault because I didn't listen and went down the mountain immediately. And if he has not seen us yet, it is certain that at this time we will be covered with soil.   He doesn't know the reason why I had to go back so I will just let him say what he wants. And I don't even have a plan to tell him. It would be safer if only Jelah and I knew because I also had no plans to share my access with PYM.   Not unless I am certain about the code that I was going to create.   He sighed and messed his hair. "From the look in your eyes, I am sure that you don't even regret what you did."   I stared at him. "You save us and I sincerely thank you for that. But I won't regret going back to our camp to save my laptop because what's in here is much more important than anything else."   "Even the safety of Jelah?"   I stunned and couldn't say anything. But of course, Jelah is way more important than this and that's even the reason why I choose to go back alone.   It's just her; waiting of me is out of my hand. She choose that herself.   "Oh s**t!" Meir almost cried in pain when Jelah kicked him in his knee. "You little..."   "Don't put pressure on my sister, you bastard!" she shouted. "I choose to wait her so it is my fault if something happens to me up there and not hers."   "Hey." Kris immediately held my sister and distances her to Meir. "You have to relax, okay?   "You too, Meir." Frazer said. "Shira's plans succeed. The heat in the reactor is lessening as the water in the river flows over it and there is no sign of radioactive poison in the water that is now going in the sea. Anyway, I already contact the PYM and they are sending us chopper to go back to the compound. And as of this mess, I notify the government and they are now preparing to clean this mess."   "What about our vacation?" I asked.   He shrugged his shoulder. "I'm sorry, Shira. But that should end today."   "Hell no!"   "You don't have any choice." He said. "Your plan is brilliant and the higher ups are actually praising you for thinking fast under such pressure but what you did up there, disobeying Meir's instruction will not save you to stay outside the compound."   I silently cursed. I look forward to this vacation because I know that it will take a while before they give us our second chance to get out of that compound.   Damn it! I prepare so much for this week and now, everything mess up because of that nuclear reactor.   Aish!   "Let's go, Shira." Jelah cling to my arms. "Don't worry too much about this. I'm sure; we will be able to get our next vacation."   "But it will take a while."   "I don't think so." We turned to Ives who's holding their laptop. Well, I know that like mine, they are also have important system in that laptop so I can't just leave it behind and save only mine so I also grabbed theirs. "We will surely get our first job in no time."   I frowned. "What do you mean?"   "It's not like you are the only one who keeps messing their system." Kris said. "The three of us actually taking advantage of the uproar every time you hacked their system to get enough information so that we will not blinded in our situation."   "And what did you learn?" I asked.   "They are short in people that will take care of huge numbers of job from the clients." Maki said. "So from what Frazer said, they will surely put us in training and give us jobs."   Most of the jobs that PYM gives to their students as part of training are just assisting authorities. But there are some teams in the organization like Meir's team who handle high level jobs that can danger a lot of people.   There is so much information that PYM has still hide and I can't just get all of that because of the tight security of their system   But what I have to do right now if focus on preparing everything that may happen after this incident.   __________    After the incident related to the nuclear reactor, thing inside the compound doesn't change anything.   Meir keeps giving me impossible task but I manage to do it in time and I stop messing with them since I was too busy on doing the code that I need for the project that I was creating.   And my friends are also busy doing their own system but I don't have any detail about that. I don't even dare to ask before they complete that. It will just give them destruction.   But I am amaze on Jelah who manage to get some time spare for her physical training.   We also have physical training but that's not our priority so we can spend more time on creating our system but my sister? She's doing more than we can.   "Do you think she is pushing herself too much?" Maki said while we are watching Jelah having her sparing session with Scylla on a bare hands combat. "From what I know, she even sacrifices her long sleep at night to finish her task as soon as possible so she can focus on this kind of training."   "She is certainly pushing herself." I said. "And I don't like it." I messed my hair and sighed.   I don't know what she's trying to accomplish but I can't let her damage her own body. All of her hard work will be nothing if it was her body who surrender.   "She's not the only one who's working hard too much." Ives said as he sat beside me. "Kris is also pushing himself. Lack of sleep and always having his meal late."   "What are they trying to prove?"   "They are trying to show to the higher ups that they are worthy to be in your team." We look at Meir who's leaning at the wall. "The higher up sees you as high value asset that's why they can't just let anyone join your team especially those who will only be a burden."   "You mean, they are the one who will choose the member of my team?"   He nods.   "I refuse." I exclaimed. "It will be my team so I have all the rights to choose whoever I want and not them."   "You don't have any choice about that matter, Yeshira." He said and look straight to my eyes. "As I said, you are high value assets. We can't just let you die so we must sure that everyone in your team will have the ability to protect you."   "I can protect myself!"   "How?" He raised his eyebrow. "You skipped all your physical training because you are too busy on your codes. So, how are you going to protect yourself is you start taking jobs?"   I glared at him. "I really hate you for underestimating my skills."   "I am just stating the fact, Yeshira." he said. "I am your instructor so I am well aware of all your skills and physical combat is not in your list."    I've been his students for six months and from the very start, I really hate his gut.   I know that he is more skilled than me. I get that so I don't mind him acting smart and great. But always underestimate what I can do? That's what I hate about him the most.   Until now, I am still thinking how we manage to keep our cool in front of each other even if it is clear our hatred for the both of us.    "Just let them do what they want." he said. "It is the price they have to pay for wanting to be with your team."   "You know what?" I glared at him. "I will not cooperate with anyone that you and your boss put in my team. And I will only accept any jobs from them if my friends are on my team."   "You can't—"   "You know I can." I cut him. "And you know that. So don't make them..." I pointed Jelah. "Do things that can damage their body because if they get sick, I will make huge mess that will surely give you additional work to do."   Yes, I agree to their plan but that doesn't mean that they have the right to manipulate everything in my surroundings. And I won't let them do anything that may harm Jelah.   I won't let them get away if Jelah get sick because of this insane training that they are putting in her schedule.
