Chapter 4The men who were installing the water heater didn’t appear at the crack of dawn, but they were there at eight sharp. Kieran showed them what was what and left them alone to do their job. Then, Robert and his crew arrived to start working on the staircase to the second floor and begin the job of cleaning the old varnish off the woodwork on the ground floor. Kieran decided he could handle re-varnishing everything when they finished. It would give him something to keep him busy—not as if he didn’t have enough to do as it was.
