Falco I let Karro take over while we did our daily mate-sweep, wishing that I could have somehow blocked out his taunting voice. "For a human that never wanted a mate, you sure are searching for her a lot." "I think that you can drop it now, don't you?" If I could have rolled my eyes, I would have. "I think that you should be a big boy and just admit it. Here, I'll say it for you. I was right, you were wrong. See, that wasn't hard now, was it?" Karro's sarcastically smug laughter echoed in the back of my mind. "Whatever." "Great comeback." We were on the very edge of our pack's land, when the beautiful sunny day started fading away as the sky became cloudy and the wind picked up. Karro had just turned to head back to the house, when he came to an abrupt stop. "Do you smell that?"
