The girl in the woods

Lucian stared at the white wolf who stared back at him. In his whole life, he had never seen a white wolf.

The wolf was very beautiful as its white fur glowed. He tried to take a closer look at the wolf but then, it took a step backwards.

“I am not going to harm you” He assured the wolf. To make the wolf comfortable, he transformed into his wolf form too.

Still, it was not comfortable as it ran away. Determined to know who the wolf really is, he ran after it but then, he could see the wolf anymore.

What was happening?

Just then, he sighted a white.. somewhat hair like someone was behind the tree.

He stylishly walked over to the tree, trying not to make any noise. He gasped at his sight.

It was a young girl who seemed to be a few years younger. Her mane was white in color just like the garment she was wearing.

“H.Hi” He nervously greeted. She looked up immediately to behold who it was as she had crossed her arms on her knees and buried her head in it.

“I am not here to hurt you” He assured as he stared at her face. She was perfection in simplicity.

Her face was perfectly carved. The tears that tricked down her face only made her look even more beautiful. It was strange.

“Hi, I am Lucian” He stretched his hands to her. She looked at him from head to toe and then from toe to head. “I am not here to hurt you, I just want to be your friend” He smiled.

“Hi” she greeted back. He melted at the sound of her voice. The voice was just as pleasant as she looked.

“Can I sit by your side?” He questioned, expecting an affirmative answer. She stared at him for a while before nodding. He smiled as he sat by her side.

“What is your name and why are you here?” He questioned, leaning further and slowly wiping her tears.

She smiled at his kind gesture.

Somehow, he felt an electrifying wave pass through him when his hands first touched her.

Not sure, he touched her again but felt nothing.

“My name is Jazlyn” She smiled.

“Princess Jasmine?”

“Jazlyn” She corrected.

“Okay Jazlyn, why are you here?” He questioned.

“I can’t find home” She began to cry the more. He embraced her quickly.

He knew what it felt like to be alone. He knew how saddening it was to not have love when you need it the most.

“How did you leave home and how did you get here?” He questioned further, hoping he could help out in a way.

“I do not know. I was taken away from my parents about three years ago by some strange people. They used me for their purposes only, not considering my happiness. I was...”

“It is okay” He embraced her again as with each word she said, she cried even more, her speech becoming inaudible.

“For how long have you been here?” He questioned, releasing her and this time, allowing her to wipe off her tears.

“Since I escaped from them two years ago” She tried to maintain her composure.

“You have been here for two years?” His eyes widened in shock.

“Of course” She nodded.

“All by yourself?”

She nodded in the affirmative. Staying all alone by himself was not something Lucian wanted to imagine.

No one to call a friend, no one to call family. Just him alone.

He would barely survive three days.

“I promise to be your friend from this moment on” He crossed his hands on his chest. “I promise to never leave you alone” He further assured.

“You promise?” A shimmer of hope radiated from her face.

“Yes” He smiled.

“Thank you” She smiled as she embraced him, not wanting to let him go.

Lily was not settled as she paced up and down in her room. She had to look for a way to find him. She cannot lose him for some stupid Alpha son who thinks he can get everything and anything he wants.

Just then, she heard her father call her name. He had returned. Lily sighed before walking out of her room to meet her father, not knowing what to expect.

“Yes, father” She walked to him.

“You are back” Her mother emerged from nowhere.

“Yes” He smiled as he dropped the bags with him. The Luna sent this to you and the children. All excluding Lily.

The Alpha son would her gift when he comes visiting tonight.”

“Tonight? What do you mean, father?” Lily asked in surprise.

“Well, the soon to be Alpha would be visiting tonight and he would bring your gift.

I want you to get your best attire and I want you to behave yourself” He instructed.

“But father…”

“You are so lucky, Lily. If I had such an opportunity, I would jump at it” Anna cut her short.

“But mother…”

“Is there a problem?” Her father asked, raising his brows.

“No” She sighed.

“Good. Now go to your room and get something pleasant to wear. The Alpha's son must not be disappointed.”

“Yes father” She bowed in defeat and walked back to her room.

“I have to go now, I need to do some cleaning” Anna stood up.

“Of course” He nodded as he watched her walk away.

If there was something Lily had always wanted, it was to make her parents happy but was she going to do it at the expense of her happiness?

She sighed as she brought out the bag that contained her wears.

“I...I have to go now” Lucian informed Jazlyn.

“But you promised never to leave me?” She questioned, disappointed boldly written all over her face.

“I promised not to leave you and I never will. I will always come to check you every day and ensure you are happy” He assured.

“Okay” she sighed in desperation. She had no choice.

“I promise to come back tomorrow” He assured her before turning to leave.

He really did not want to leave but he did not want to get his mother and siblings worried.

He transformed into his wolf form and ran home.

He tried to sneak in but unfortunately, was caught by his mother.

“My son” She called with pity. On a normal day, he would have loved the show of care and pity as he would need it but today, he was more than excited and for the first time, he did not want any pity from his mother.

“Mother, I am fine” He smiled but she was not convinced.

“Come here, Lucian” She beckoned to him. Left with no choice, she walked over to him.

“Regardless of what your father says, he still loves you. Do not listen to what he says. He loves you, I love you, your siblings love you, and we all love you.

You being different means you are special. You are a blessing from the moon goddess and we are blessed to have you” She placed a kiss on his forehead.

“Thank you, mother. I love you all too” He hurriedly free himself from her grip and tried to leave but she held him back.

“You are a blessing and a gift”

“Thank you mother” He managed to say before running off towards Lily’s room.

Anna could see the joy radiating from him although she did not know why but whatever the reason was, she was happy her son was finally happy.

Lucian gently placed a knock on Lily’s door as he anticipated her response.

He could not wait to see her so he could narrate what had happened to her.

On the third knock, Lily finally opened the door.

“Lucian” she faked a smile as she welcomed him in. He was closer to her than he was to his other siblings.

"Where have you been? Are you fine now? Listen, you do not have to listen to what father has to say, you are perfect just the way you are”

“I am not listening to what father says. I have something to tell you” He smiled as he excitedly jumped on her bed.

“Really? What is it?” She asked excitedly. What would have made him happy? What would have made him happy and forget all that had happened in such a short time?

“Well, I met a wolf today” He giggled.

“And?” She questioned, wondering what was exciting about that.

“A female wolf” He added.

“Oh” Lily smiled. “And you like her?” She questioned as she sat by his side.

“Not that. I really want to help her”

Lily gave him a questioning look, wondering why. He then went on to explain everything that had happened.

“That’s saddening” Lily sighed as she went back to her bag.

“By the way, what are you doing with your clothes? Are you.... where are you heading to?” He questioned with care and fear embedded in his eyes.

“Well” Lily sighed. “I am getting married”
