Screeching wails!!
Everyone woke up from their sleep lazily as they prepared for the morning training.
Although Trevor was extremely tired having slept for only 2 hours after he got back, excitement filled his heart when he thought of the tasabar he had acquired.
That night, the wizard Barbech had given them a list of potions and items they needed to find in order to unlock the next seal.
"Bro....." Tony poked Trevor who was sleeping during class.
"Mm...." Trevor groaned lazily trying to keep his eyes open.
"Bro. Wake up....Isaac says that you weren't in the room most of the night. Where were you?"
"Hmm....?" Trevor tried to sit upright.
But like as if his ears had shut away from the world, he dozed off while seated upright. He couldn't even hear a single word Tony said.
"What the... How are you even sleeping in that position?" Tony wondered in frustration.
As Trevor slept, his brain lost control over his body making it prone to gravity.
His head fell forward and hit the desk real hard.
He pried his eyes open and pushed his head back upright while cleaning the drool on his lips.
Obviously, everyone in the class had noticed this which made them burst into a round of laugher.
"Oh, here we go again," Trevor said in disdain when the whole class laughed at him pulling the teacher's attention towards him.
"Young man. Are you sleeping during my lesson?"
Trevor didn't bother answering the question.
Cause if he did, he would surely lie.
And his reddened eyes would rat him out.
So all he could do was stare helplessly at the teacher.
"You say awake all night. Now see the results of your stubbornness." Tony scolded.
"If only you knew?" Trevor sighed helplessly.
The teacher didn't bother taking the topic further and continued drawing illustrations on the blackboard.
After the lessons, Trevor gathered up with Page and rest at the dining hall to have their meals.
"Why do you head to all night?" Page scolded.
"Yeah, bro.... Cause if I an to remember, you must have come back to our room past midnight."
"Relax, guys. I simply went to the library and studied a bit. There was a book I found interesting and it took up most of my time." Trevor munched on his dry bread.
"well, your studying is going to ruin your studying," Tony said with a serious face.
Which made everyone at the bench laugh.
"What? Is it something I said?"He asked not getting the joke.
" No.... It's nothing. "Rose said trying to hold back her laughter.
After the training later that evening, Trevor headed straight to his room to have some rest.
As Trevor took off his shirt, Issac noticed something when he accidentally activated a tasabar viewer spell.
"You have a tasabar?" he asked confused. Just yesterday Trevor's arm was completely empty without a NY stain of ink. But now?
"How? When? What?" he asked a series of shocked questions as he got close to get a better look. Even blinking twice to make sure he saw right.
"What are you talking about?" Trevor pretended and followed Isaac's gaze, "What the hell? How did I get that? I didn't have it yesterday!"
Seeing Trevor surprised, Isaac could only think of one possible reason. "Maybe your magic finally awakened. Wow, that's the longest time magic has taken to awaken in a mage."
"So you mean I can use magic now?" Trevor acted as if he were shocked and excited.
When he saw Issac look at his arm, he searched for excuses in his head.
And the best excuse was to act as if he were unaware. That way, Isaac wouldn't ask him too many questions.
If he had said he had woken up that morning and saw it, Isaac would have doubted him and link his disappearance yesterday to him acquiring a tasabar.
"Yes...! You can." Isaac said excitedly for Trevor, "This is amazing, Tony finally managed to break through to silver rank. I finally got to enter the second faze of bronze rank. And you've unlocked your stone rank."
"Killing two birds with a stone." Trevor thought to himself while looking at Isaac with a wide excited smile.
Not only could he avoid suspicion, but could also inquire about how to cultivate.
He had previously planned to visit the library and read books on cultivation in private.
Now he didn't even have to hide it.
"How can I cultivate?"
"It's simple..... Get yourself in a relaxed position. Like this."
Isaac demonstrated.
Followed by which Trevor imitated.
"Clear your mind. Try to integrate with the surrounding. You'll be able to see tiny elemental colors."
Having said that, the golden liquid could be seen pour into Isaac's tasabar filling it halfway.
Trevor could only widen his eyes as he looked at Isaac's tasabar.
How did that even happen? This completely defied any kind of sense.
Pushing away his doubts to the back of his head, he did as Isaac said, and immediately, he felt like he was one with his surrounding.
The air felt purer.
When he opened his eyes, he could see red tiny dots play around in the air.
It was like he had just entered a new world.
"Right, am done. I see red elements. What next?"
"Interesting.... So you're a fire elemental. Alright. Attract them to your body."
Trevor didn't know how to do that. So he tried as the wizard in the cavern did and breathed in.
But nothing happened.
"..." Isaac was bemused by what Trevor did, "Not like that dummy. Inhale through your body, not your nose."
"Through my body? Does he think I am a frog or what?" Trevor stared blankly at Isaac.
But without any other choice, he did as he said and the next thing surprised him.
He felt his body get lighter and it now felt like one absorbent sponge.
The fire mana around Trevor then penetrated Trevor's body and his tasabar started filling.
After it was filled to the brim, the fire elements disappeared out of Trevor's sight.
Ecstasy filled Trevor when he saw his originally black tattoo turn golden.
He then immediately practiced making an illusion and succeeded in making a clear butterfly.
Soon, sleep took him over since he was already tired.
Trevor stepped out of a train that had arrived at the station.
The place he had arrived was quite weird indeed.
As soon his feet touched the ground.
The train he had stepped out of gave off a departure whistle before speeding away.
Instead of following the tracks, it was on, it started raising into the air, and a set of new tracks formed as it sped away.
It was like it was forming its own tracks in mid-air.
In just seconds, the train disappeared into the horizon along with the tracks it moved on.
Surveying his surrounding, Trevor could only see the railway line behind him, and everywhere else on the other side of the track was an empty desert void of any life.
Looking in front of him, he spotted a 50 meter tall rusty black steel gate.
"Where the heck am I?"
Seeing no other place to go, he headed towards the gates.
But just as he was closing in on the distance between him and the gate, he noticed a person sleeping on a rocking chair.
He wore a worn-out straw hat and old country clothes.
He hadn't noticed him at first because the giant gates took away all his attention.
And compared to the giant gates, he looked like a speck of sand.
"Hello...." Trevor tried to get the gatekeeper's attention.
No answer!
"Hello..... Sir."
No answer!
"Si..."
"What is it that you want!" the man said in an authoritative manner.
His voice was as loud and vivid as the gods he watched on TV. Only that he spoke with a hint of teeth shattering.
"May I know where I am?"
Trevor's question made the gatekeeper burst into a round of loud laughter.
His laughter sounded like the devil who was about to open the gates of hell.
After a full minute of laughing, the gatekeeper finally raised his head to look at Trevor.
Trevor's heart clenched in fear when he saw the man's face.
Half of his face was that of an old man while the other half was a pure white skeleton with a raw round eyeball in its eye socket.
He held a piece of dry grass in his teeth on the skeleton side.
Now that Trevor noticed, one of the man's hands was void of any flesh.
"Where else could you be, Trevor," he said.
"Wait? You know my name?"
