When Choi Hun-ae was 6 years old, in the summer, her family returned from China to their motherland South Korea to visit some relatives, one of whom was Choi Jin-moo, a distant uncle of hers.
Choi Jin-moo and his wife Nam Bo-yeon had two children, the elder of whom was a daughter Choi So-dong. When Choi Hun-ae saw her, she was wearing a white blouse and a pair of blue of jeans for a little girl. Due to the hot weather in the summer of South Korea, her black and long hair was tied at the back of her head and therefore looked like a pony’s tail. Using her eyes that were not so big but clean, with a smile that was as sweet as honey, she looked at the relatives from China, where they were not the citizens but lived, worked or learned as foreigners.
Different from this cousin who was also born in 2000 but three months younger than her, Choi Hun-ae seemed to be not so lovely. She had an overly long chin, two abnormally big ears; each of her fingers, thin and long, had an expand fingertip and therefore looked like a drumstick. Meanwhile, she did not dare to open her own mouth to laugh, because her teeth was crowded and therefore not beautiful.
Choi Hun-ae was a patient of Marfan syndrome, a genetic disease that does not only cause deformities but fatal pathological changes of the heart. Actually, Choi Hun-ae’s great grandfather, namely her own father Choi Seong-hyang’s grandfather, died of this disease at the age of 39. Although Choi Hun-ae did not die yet, her illness prevented her from any strenuous exercise; as a result, Choi So-dong played checkers with her. Marfan syndrome does not damage the intelligence; therefore, Choi Hun-ae won every time.
“You’re so clever, elder sister!” Choi So-dong did not envy or hate her but sincerely praised her, who laughed, proud of herself.
Since then, Choi Hun-ae and Choi So-dong were friendly to each other. One day later, when they had to say goodbye, both of them felt sad.
As time went by, Choi Hun-ae became 15 years old. Having graduated from a junior high school in China, she returned to South Korea to spend the last summer vocation during her junior high school period. In Daegu, where her youngest uncle Choi Seong-su worked as an air force officer, she met Choi So-dong again. As she saw, the latter’s facial features did not fundamentally change, while there had been a significant increase in her height.
“Are you all right, elder sister?” Choi So-dong, who had already known many details of Choi Hun-ae’s illness, asked. “Is there any treatment to cure your illness?”
When Choi Hun-ae was 14 years old, a doctor in China told her: an operation was able to correct the deformity of her heart; however, it was at risk and must not be performed when she had been 18 years old, namely adult according to an international standard. If the operation had succeeded, her life would be greatly lengthened and therefore similar with the normal; if it failed, however, she would immediately lose her life.
Having told this thing to Choi So-dong, Choi Hun-ae emphasized: “Although the operation is dangerous, I desire to have it. I don’t want to die of this annoying disease.”
“You’ll be fine, elder sister,” Choi So-dong tried to encourage Choi Hun-ae, while herself could not help weeping. “The operation will necessarily succeed, and your life will be as long as mine.”
Moved by these words, Choi Hun-ae also wept and embraced Choi So-dong, who embraced her in reply. At this moment, their breasts were jammed together. As they were both 15-year-old young ladies, their breasts were compact and elastic; accordingly, the jam brought an unprecedented emotion to them. Although they were both fond of this emotion, they were too shy to continue; therefore, they released each other in a hurry, while their heartbeats became violent.
Three years later, as planned, Choi Hun-ae, who had graduated from a high school in China and then returned to South Korea, was performed an operation to correct the deformity of her heart. After the operation succeeded, she was in hospital for a long period, during which she always thought of Choi So-dong. As she knew, the latter dreamed to be admitted by Korean National Police University, because her grandfather, uncle and father were all polices. Worshiping these three seniors, Choi So-dong desired to follow their examples.
“No problem,” Choi Hun-ae wanted to say to Choi So-dong. “You’ll be an excellent police in the future.”
Different from this distant cousin, Choi Hun-ae dreamed to be a diplomatist, similar with her grandfather that was her mother’s father. This was why she formally became an undergraduate at the Department of International Relations, the University of Seoul.
The same as a feature of America, many excellent universities in South Korea are private; different from them, the University of Seoul is public, while its quality is poorer than that of Koryo, Yonsei and so on. After knowing it was this university that had admitted her, therefore, Choi Hun-ae could not help feeling disappointed; however, Choi Seong-hyang was happy. In his opinion, as long as his eldest daughter could learn in an university that was not terribly awful, it was already enough; he never forced her to graduate from a leading one, although Choi Seong-hyang himself graduated from Yonsei University, when he was 24 years old.
To Choi Hun-ae’s pleasure, her classmates in the university were all friendly to her. Especially, after knowing that she was a patient whose heart function was weaker than the normal; as a result, they did not discriminate against her but did their best to protect her. Many of them, for example, were fond of climbing mountains as a sport; to avoid endangering Choi Hun-ae, however, they never organized this event. Understanding and thanking their kindness, Choi Hun-ae felt happy to have such classmates.
However, she did not live with them. After she clearly demanded, her father Choi Seong-hyang, who was the chairman of a large-sized Korea-invested enterprise and therefore extremely rich, rented a small-sized but complete apartment on the seventh floor of a building near the university for her. When she was staying in the apartment, she often missed Choi So-dong and therefore felt unbearable; to force herself to temporarily ignore this problem, she often went out of the apartment, standing on the corridor and let wind (if existing) blow herself, as if this method could cool the hot blood in her brain.
Exceeding Choi Hun-ae’s expectations, a Japanese boy Keiji Okazaki fell in love with her. Born in Chiba prefecture, he was an undergraduate in the Department of Music; having met Choi Hun-ae by accident, he desired to be her boyfriend and therefore bravely pursued her. However, as her own heart was full of Choi So-dong, Choi Hun-ae rejected his pursue. Howbeit this event caused her to notice a danger.
“I must tell my feeling to her as soon as possible,” guessed she. “If not, I can only see her plunging into the arms of others, not myself. This will be a nightmare of mine.”
As a result, in the forenoon of June 8, 2019, Choi Hun-ae went to Asan by coach.
Korean National Police University was founded in Seoul, 1979; four years later, it was moved to Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province. Before admitting Choi So-dong, however, as the best police school in South Korea, it was already moved to Asan, a city in South Chungcheong Province, and located in the southwest suburb. Before she went to the coach station, Choi Hun-ae had used her own mobile phone to consult a digital map and recorded the details; therefore, although she had never been therefore in the past, she believed that she would not lose the way.
As supposed, finally, Choi Hun-ae successfully met Choi So-dong out of the university’s gate. Because this day was Saturday, on the basis of a regulation, Choi So-dong was wearing a suit of casual clothes that were actually provided by the university, which did not allow the students to wear their own clothes at school.
As soon as she saw Choi Hun-ae, Choi So-dong embraced the latter and kept this action for a long time, as if the time had completely disappeared. Afterwards, when she stopped this action, Choi Hun-ae, who was also embracing her, found that she had wept again.
“I missed you so much, elder sister,” groaned Choi So-dong.
“So did I,” Choi Hun-ae replied and could not help laughing, “But now we met each other, didn’t we?”
Although she usually did not open her mouth when laughing due to regarding her own teeth as ugly, Choi Hun-ae did so in front of Choi So-dong, believing that she would not discriminate against her. As supposed, after seeing Choi Hun-ae’s teeth, Choi So-dong did not laugh at her but advised: “Let’s find another place to chat, elder sister. Standing here is tiring.”
“Can I visit your school?” asked Choi Hun-ae, who was interested in this question.
“You need to make an appointment,” answered Choi So-dong. “Without it, you mustn’t enter.”
It was never surprising that a police university had such strict regulation; meanwhile, as Choi Hun-ae did not make an appointment, she had to give up this plan and continued to ask: “Where can we go?”
“Did you come to Asan in the past?” Choi So-dong asked in reply.
“Never,” answered Choi Hun-ae.
“All right, let me lead you to the city center. There’s no interesting place near my school.” answered Choi So-dong. “As it’s the weekend now, we students are allowed to leave the school. But I must go back in the evening. Of course, acceptable is accompanying with you in the daytime.”
Choi Hun-ae agreed; therefore, Choi So-dong led her to a bus station to get on a bus that carried them to the city center of Asan, where they firstly had a stroll in a park. When they were behind a grove that could coincidentally cover them, and there was nobody else near this place, Choi So-dong stretched out her left hand to hold the right one of Choi Hun-ae, who was originally walking on the left but could not help stopping. Right after this, Choi So-dong snuggled her head onto her shoulder.
Having lived in China for so many years, Choi Hun-ae was familiar with numerous Chinese customs. For example, traditional Chinese people often ignited strings of small firecrackers for an important event, especially Chinese New Year, marriage or funeral ceremony. At this moment, Choi Hun-ae felt her own heart similar with exploding and sounding firecrackers, due to her own excitement. Having confirmed what Choi So-dong did to her was not an mirage, Choi Hun-ae, with an unprecedented courage, gave the former a kiss on the lips.
“Sick!” Choi So-dong pretended to become angry but could not help laughing. Before long, she and Choi Hun-ae, the same as other lovers, kissed each other until they heard the footsteps of some other tourists moving towards them.
After the first summer vocation during the undergraduate period started, Choi So-dong did not immediately return to her own home in Daegu but went to Seoul and visited Choi Hun-ae’s residence, where they shared a watermelon in the apartment’s parlor.
“Mommy, it is said that fruits in China are cheap, really?” Choi So-dong asked a question in which she was interested.
Since Choi Hun-ae and Choi So-dong kissed each other during a long time in the park, it meant that they formally became a couple of lovers; accordingly, they needed pet names to each other. Having considered for a long time, finally they decided: while Choi So-dong, who was younger than Choi Hun-ae, called the latter as “mommy” in English, Choi Hun-ae called Choi So-dong as “baby” in the same language, as if they were a mother and daughter.
“Really,” Choi Hun-ae answered and explained the reason. “But this isn’t a good thing, I guess. Because Chinese peasants are always poor. The government doesn’t allow them to earn much money. This is why many of them have stopped farming and go to cities to work.”
Choi Hun-ae, actually, was not fond of watermelon; as Choi So-dong was fond of it, however, she would like to demand herself to be the same as her lover on this issue.
The watermelon which they shared was not big but as small as a rubber ball; therefore, they finished it soon. According to the strict garbage classification system in South Korea, watermelon peel and seeds were all food waste and therefore essential to store in a kind of special garbage bag before thrown into a corresponding bin. Obeying this rule, both Choi Hun-ae decided to go to the kitchen to bring such garbage bag; however, knowing what she wanted to do, Choi So-dong advised: “Let me do it, mommy. As you spent your money in buying this watermelon, now it’s my duty to clean the food waste.”
Regarding this advice as reasonable, Choi Hun-ae supported it; as a result, Choi So-dong asked: “Where did you store the garbage bag?”
“In the space under the kitchen sink.”
Good at doing housework, Choi So-dong rapidly collected the watermelon peel and seeds into a garbage bag for food waste. However, as there was a specified time to throw garbage in Seoul, while it was not the time yet, she did not move the bag to out of this apartment but stay here to accompany with Choi Hun-ae, who tried to kiss her again. Although she was willing to be kissed by her lover, Choi So-dong suddenly noticed a problem and therefore asked: “Are you familiar with this apartment’s host, mommy?”
“Why did you ask so?” not understanding the reason, Choi Hun-ae did not answer but asked in reply.
“I wonder whether he hid a secret camera.”
While Choi So-dong looked extremely serious when speaking so, Choi Hun-ae, who could not help laughing, mocked her: “Oh dear, although you’re not a police yet, you have been with an occupational disease among many polices.”
Choi Hun-ae meant Choi So-dong was overly skeptical, because she believed the host Myeong Seok-woo was not so dirty.
Because of Myeong Seok-woo’s special family name, when she firstly met him, Choi Hun-ae asked: “Mr Myeong, you’re a descendant of Myeong Og-jin, aren’t you?”
“Yes, I am,” answered Myeong Seok-woo.
Myeong Og-jin was a Chinese politician at the end of Yuan Dynasty, when he founded a political state that was called as “Xia” or “Da Xia” in Chinese language. In 1366, Myeong Og-jin passed away; five years later, Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of Ming Dynasty, eliminated Da Xia and exiled Myeong Og-jin’s descendants then to Korea, which was a vassal of China. Gradually, these Chinese persons were assimilated by Koreans; however, they never forgot that their ancestors came from China. As a result, they returned to China regularly to worship their ancestor; Myeong Seok-woo also attended such event once. After knowing Choi Hun-ae lived in China since 4 years old, he talked to her about many details of this large country that had ever greatly affected Koreans. During this process, Choi Hun-ae found that he was a gentleman.
Therefore, when Choi So-dong demonstrated that she suspected Myeong Og-jin, Choi Hun-ae regarded this as unnecessary and even absurd. However, Choi So-dong insisted on her own opinion and did carry out a thorough search of the parlor. Looking at her action, Choi Hun-ae could not help guessing: “Necessarily, you’ll be an excellent police, baby.”
After confirming there was no any abnormal situation in the parlor, Choi So-dong return to Choi Hun-ae’s side. Unable to wait any more, the latter embraced and kissed the former, who acted in the same way to reply. Before long, feeling her blood with excitement pounding her brain, Choi Hun-ae started to take off Choi So-dong’s clothes. Knowing what she wanted to do, however, the latter suddenly prevented her and begged: “Don’t be so hurry, mommy. I’m not ready yet.”
Because of these words, Choi Hun-ae felt as if herself arrived at Pluto, which is extremely far away from the sun and therefore terribly cold. As she was not selfish, however, she decided to respect her lover’s willing and therefore gave up her own plan.
“Commonly you don’t have time to travel in Seoul, baby,” advised she, after sitting on the sofa silently. “Let me accompany you on your trip in our capital.”
“OK, mommy,” Choi So-dong, who remained shy, replied.
Next evening, after travelling in Seoul for hours, Choi Hun-ae and Choi So-dong went into a restaurant to have dinner. In this restaurant, the meals themselves were not unusual; however, an interior wall attracted both of them. Because there were at least one hundred small pieces of paper, each of which recorded a willing:
“I hope I can be admitted by an excellent university.”
“I want to afford my own residence.”
“I desire a girlfriend.”
This was a typical wishing wall. According to one story, if a person wrote down a wish on a piece of paper sincerely and pasted the paper onto such wall, the wish would be realized. Choi Hun-ae regarded it as merely a game; however, she would like to play this game with Choi So-dong. This was why she advised the latter: “Let’s write down our wish on a piece of paper and pasted it onto the wall.”
Choi So-dong agreed and did so with her. Before long, a new piece of paper appeared on the wall, demonstrating an English sentence: “Mommy loves baby forever; baby loves mommy forever.” If unaware of the unusual relationship between the two persons who produced them, a stranger would believe these words were merely about the mutual love between a mother and her child.
Having stayed in Seoul for three days, Choi So-dong returned to Daegu; in the next morning, carrying a small suitcase, Choi Hun-ae went home in China. As there was no any through flight between Seoul and that Chinese city in which her home was located, first of all, she flew from Seoul to Dalian, a coastal city in Liaoning Province, China.
The airline distance between Seoul and Dalian is less than 500 kilometers; accordingly, Choi Hun-ae spent only half one hour in arriving at Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport, from where she would transfer to her destination. As the plane that transferred her would take off about two hours later, she did not want to sit on a chair in the departure lounge to wait for this long time; therefore, she decided to have a walk in this place, pulling her own suitcase.
When she was walking, not surprisingly, Choi Hun-ae thought of Choi So-dong again. As the latter was not accompanying with her, the former felt a bit lost; as she would meet her lover again after the new semester started, however, this hope encouraged Choi Hun-ae, who could not help opening her mouth when laughing. Unwilling to let strangers see her teeth, which were believed to be ugly, however, she closed her mouth in a hurry.
After the transfer started and the plane became steady when flying, a moment later, it was time for lunch; therefore, an airline stewardess pushed an airline service trolley towards her and other passengers.
Several more hours later, Choi Hun-ae arrived at her own home in China. While her family members were all happy to see her coming back, she was also happy to accompany with them again. However, she did not dare to let them know the unusual relationship between her and Choi So-dong. After all, discriminating against homosexuals, no matter gays or lesbians, remained a general mood among Koreans. Although Choi Hun-ae never talked about this issue with her family members, especially her parents, she preferred to believe they could not accept the truth that she was a lesbian. Contrarily, if Choi So-dong were a boy (certainly this was impossible) in her clan, the blood relationship between them was so distant that both the morality and the law in South Korea allowed them to love and even marry each other.
To avoid divulging the secret, after returning to her own bedroom, Choi Hun-ae used her mobile phone to send a message to Choi So-dong:
“I have got home now, baby. To prevent others from hearing what we’re talking about, remember to merely send messages to me, the same as what I’m doing to you at this moment.”
A moment later, Choi So-dong replied: “OK, mommy. I’ve known.”
Next morning, Choi Hun-ae received a message from a classmate during her high school period: “Hello, Choi Hun-ae, did you come back to China?”
Choi Hun-ae laughed. Although her parents were both native citizens of South Korea, and she would never change her own nationality, she lived in China for so many years that the classmate used “come back”, not “come” or “get”, to discuss this event.
“Yes, I came back yesterday,” replied she.
“Great. You know, the day after tomorrow is my twentieth birthday. I’ll hold a party at home, and I hope you can come to it, if you’re in leisure then.”
“No problem,” promised Choi Hun-ae. “I’ll be on time.”
Two days later, Choi Hun-ae met this promise in the evening. As other guests of this party were also her classmates in the high school, one of them asked: “Do you have a boyfriend now, Choi Hun-ae?”
“No, I don’t,” answered the South Korean.
“Why?” the classmate asked with surprise and joked before Choi Hun-ae could answer: “OK, I have known. As your family is so rich, certainly you want a boyfriend whose family is richer than—or at least as rich as—your own family. This isn’t strange.”
Choi Hun-ae forced a smile. Although she was never conceited due to her own family background; however, she was certainly impossible to bluntly tell others: “No, the reason why I don’t have a boyfriend is my own having a girlfriend. In other words, I’m a lesbian.” Fortunately, the classmate did not continue to talk about this issue; as a result, she felt herself relaxed.
At the end of August 2019, when Choi Hun-ae was at home and preparing for returning to South Korea, Choi So-dong sent a message to her: “Mommy, will you come back to our country soon?”
“Exactly,” replied Choi Hun-ae. “I will get Seoul next afternoon.”
After knowing the specific time, Choi So-dong advised: “Let me come to meet you then. I missed you very much, during the whole summer.”
“So did I, baby,” Choi Hun-ae told her. “Your semester didn’t start yet either, did it? Just come.”
In the next afternoon, Choi Hun-ae did meet Choi So-dong in the airport. As she saw, the latter was wearing a purplish red blouse and a pair of shorts, due to which her legs, which seemed to be not thicker than her arms, was visible.
“You’re too thin,” Choi Hun-ae reminded Choi So-dong. “You should make yourself become fatter. If not, when you’re fight against a gangster in the future, you’ll be crushed very easily.”
Choi So-dong laughed. After she and Choi Hun-ae arrived at the apartment where the latter lived, however, she became shy, as if she desired to admit something shameful but did not dare to. Having noticed this detail, Choi Hun-ae asked: “What’s wrong, baby?”
“Mommy,” Choi So-dong stammered. “I...I want to make love just right now.”
Having been silent for a short while, Choi Hun-ae laughed with showing her own teeth. Guessing that she was unwilling, Choi So-dong continued to say: “You continuously desired to let this day arrive, didn’t you? Although I was too shy to agree with you last time, since you left Korea, I had been missing you. Especially, I often dreamed of making love with you; after waking up, I necessarily found the crotch of my own panties wet.”
“I completely understand, baby,” Choi Hun-ae, who already stopped laughing and embraced Choi So-dong, explained. “When I was in China, I missed you everyday, too. What’s more, I had the similar dream. I laughed because I was too happy.”
Because of this explanation, Choi So-dong was also happy.
“OK, let’s enjoy ourselves,” Choi Hun-ae said and tried to lead her lover into her bedroom. Choi So-dong, however, suddenly prevented her and said: “Wait for a while, mommy.”
“What’s wrong, baby?” in a hurry, Choi Hun-ae questioned. “Did you change you mind?” She was afraid that Choi So-dong had changed her own mind and refused to have s*x with her.
“No, I didn’t,” answered Choi So-dong. “I want to bathe.”
As a nation, Korean has a healthy custom: enjoying being neat and tidy. Choi So-dong was not an exception. Although August 2019 would end soon, affected by the global warming, the weather in Seoul remained hot; accordingly, Choi So-dong’s body was covered by sweat, which caused her to feel awful: this was why she desired to bathe and clean up herself.
“OK,” Choi Hun-ae replied. “The heater in the bathroom is gas-fired and therefore rapid. Well, are you carrying change of clothes?”
“Of course I am,” Choi So-dong answered and immediately noticed why her lover asked this question. “Mommy, if I weren’t carrying change of clothes, you would let me wear yours, wouldn’t you?”
“You’re really familiar with my thoughts, baby,” answered Choi Hun-ae. “Exactly, I planned so. All right, after the water has been heated enough, you can bathe.” Before Choi So-dong could reply, she mocked: “You should search carefully to ensure there is no a mini camera.”
Choi So-dong laughed again. As she found none camera in the parlor last time, she believed what her lover said was right: the host was not so immoral.
Although she agreed to have s*x with Choi Hun-ae, before she bathed, Choi So-dong subconsciously closed the bathroom’s door, which damaged the vision and therefore caused Choi Hun-ae to be merely able to hear the sound of water, as if it were raining. Listening to such sound, Choi Hun-ae imagined Choi So-dong’s nuke body, which she had never seen in the past.
Differently, Choi Hun-ae once saw a Chinese girl’s nuke body, although not personally.
At a weekend in May 2015, when she was surfing Internet at home in China, Choi Hun-ae suddenly saw a short video, at the beginning of which a Chinese girl with short hair was standing in a place that seemed to be a small playground surrounded by fences; due to her being with his back to the camera, firstly, Choi Hun-ae could not see her face.
Besides this girl, there were three persons in the place: two females much aged than her and a male who was responsible for video recording. After forcing the girl to kneel down, the two females started to take off her sweater and bra, causing the upper part of her body to be naked; right after this, they took off her jeans, which were moved and therefore became under her knees. The most seriously, one of the females took off this girl’s panties; as a result, the latter’s mons pubis, only the center of which was covered by pubic hair, was shown. Then the female abused: “f**k! While your pubic hair didn’t fully grow up yet, you gave the come-on?”
Other two persons also taunted this girl, who was a bit fat. Based on what they said, Choi Hun-ae knew the girl was born in 2001 and therefore one year younger than herself; the reason why she was humiliated in this way was her luring this female’s boyfriend. Reasonably, Choi Hun-ae knew such humiliation was evil and even criminal; however, looking at this girl’s body, she could not help being sexually excited.
